    Agreed.

    Let It Go. Just... damn.
    Wholeheartedly agreed.

While I liked Hans' portrayal, I did think it felt shoe-horned in for lack of having enough conflict and drama.
. . . Maybe a little - but at least it's different. Kudos to Disney for trying.

Very very solid 8.5 at least from me.
    Agreed again.

. . . And "Frozen" is now within $45 million of beating the initial theatrical run of "The Lion King" - so go see it, everybody!

    So I watched it.

The only thing I liked about it was Let It Go.

The rest of the movie was pure shit.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

On a more positive note, however, we have SUCCESS!

Fantastic news on the Box Office front. I attribute it to the massive marketing campaign the North Americas is experiencing.

    Levy is not impressed.

Actually, I haven't seen much marketing - merchandising, yes, but not marketing. And apparently, according to what I've read, a lot of it's been word-of-mouth: people going to see it because other people recommended it.

. . . Kind of like this thread, actually.

Can't find any of the images now. People were saying how the massive winter storms were just an elaborate marketing campaign by Disney.

    Levy is not impressed.

Ha, reminds me how last year amidst enormous snowstorm out here some Bond movie supposed to air on TV was replaced by "The Day After Tomorrow".

And on the flip side, it's kind of impressive that "The Lion King" held that record for almost twenty years . . . But if any movie deserved to take the crown, it's this one.

Yeah, which is amusing, but they're probably better-known in Europe . . . On a side note, translating titles back into English from other languages can be hilarious. For example, I've always been fond of reading the French edition of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers' School" - oh, wait, I mean "and the Sorcerer's Philosopher's Stone."

Fortunately, it's Disney, and they can afford the best - or build it, when they have to, as they did with Elsa's hair.

Over here those fairy tales are also very popular. Maybe even up to "old and busted" level. So we had "Tangled story" and "Frozen heart" for titles.
I always thought Andersen's "Snow Queen" was too boring and, to be fair, Frozen is pretty far from it plot-wise to confuse people by using the same title. Don't know about Tangled since I haven't seen it.

Not bad for the second, a little weird for the first.

Yeah - I mean, there's a reason it's credited as "inspired by Andersen," rather than adapted from or based on, but I guess it's a marketing ploy. The traditional name is recognisable, after all.

Don't know about Tangled since I haven't seen it.
It's closer, but not entirely accurate - of course, any version in which Rapunzel doesn't outgrow her dress as her pregnancy advances isn't entirely accurate, either.

Just saw it, liked it, actually felt a twinge of emotion there at the end. But don't tell anybody, I can't have them finding out I have an emotional spectrum beyond stoic/angry/forced-laughter.

I know I should watch this but I'm not sure if my pride as a fully grown man will allow me to walk into the theater alone to do so. Besides, the last time I tried to go to a Disney movie it was all kids and their parents who were annoying as all hell.

Going to DL and watch it that way instead.

I just took my sister so I'm completely immune to judgment, and also the theater was completely deserted except from some high(?) schoolers in the very back.

Must have been some High Schoolers with broken prides and shameless attitudes. Also, no respect for the law.

I think they just wanted to bang those chicks they came with and didn't think that gritty war movies or ghosts would get them there.

I don't know. A good horror flick can be a quick way into someone's pants, man or woman.

Not in the middle of the day.

I mean especially since it looked like there was a pretty good chance their parents would be picking them up afterward.
