    Frozen (Latest Disney animated film)

Got back from taking the little sister to this. I'd say it was alright, the main problem, and this will probably kill it for a lot of people, is that the music was pretty bad for the most part. There's 3-4 good songs and then the rest are terrible. That's not so much the fault of the performers though, annoying lyrics were the main issue, particularly for main character Anna (Kristen Bell).

Fantastic animation though, particularly for all the ice magic stuff. Also Ilsa, the MC's older sister/ice sorceress was really pretty. The main male character and his reindeer are every person you've ever known with a large dog and a guitar.

I enjoyed it, despite my complaints. I would say that in terms of straight up Disney joints, the only one since the Golden era that I've liked more is Princess and the Frog, but then I think the only other one I liked was Wreck it Ralph, which I rank below Frozen because bad music is less of a problem than having a lot of Sarah Silverman.

Have yet to see it, can't get this song out of my head.

I also heard it was close to Tangled tier. Is that even possible?

    That and this

are the best songs by a wide margin, really like both.

And oh yeah, Tangled exists, I always forget because I never saw it.

I really enjoyed the opening Ice Miner song. The Celtic feel always gets me.

I also really liked the digs at "true love" in first half of the movie. It's not often you see Disney saying that one day/look/kiss is not long enough to get to know someone completely.

Read the synopsis, looks like a nice movie to go with a younger sister on, lol. Would go with mine when it starts screening here.
We've had to endure much, you and I, but within the week there will be old men running the world

I did that and now she won't shut up

Ice Miner song is my favorite, I feel like they should have said "One hundred thousand men" instead of "one hundred men" because there's this awkward missing syllable.

Watched it. Eeh, didn't like it that much. Honestly, I liked Tangled better (speaking of which, Anna reminded me a lot of Rapunzel, from a visual point of view). Story was alright (actually, more original than the usual, I'd say), and hey, maybe it's just me, but SINGING EVERYWHERE, EVERY TIME. Even for Disney's standards! If felt alone and undisturbed for a second, they would suddenly burst into singing (and yeah, not any "remarkable" songs, but that might be just the Italian adaptation).

I do agree the ice and cystal animation looked pretty.

Finally got around to seeing this (and probably just in time, since it's been in theatres for a month) - I'd have gone with my sister, but she beat me to it. I have to say that for a change I agree with the majority opinion - this is one of Disney's best films.

Musically - yes, there's a lot of music (which I normally abhor; I prefer instrumentals), but most of it's quite good. The ice miners' song was a bit strange, since I was expecting a different vibe than the one I got, but "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" is achingly sad and sweet - and "Let It Go" is the power ballad, arguably their best work since as far back as "Part of Your World."

Visually, it's stunning. The effects of Elsa's powers are beautiful, naturally, but there's more than that. Both the girls do resemble Rapunzel a touch, but no more than Ariel and Eric resemble Belle and her beastly Prince. They also look similar to one another, but that's sisters, after all. (And ironically, where Rapunzel apparently had 27 000 strands of hair to animate, Elsa had somewhere around 400 000 - they had to invent an entirely new program to do it).

Story-wise, it's different, which is both good and bad. Good, in that you don't expect some of what you see, and it breaks new ground. Bad, in that it doesn't develop some of the depth that a few of the best Disney movies do. Which is not to say that it's all lightness and brainless fluff, at all - but more time and detail would've been nice. That said, good for them, and I hope to see more of things like this from them.

All in all, I'd rate this a minimum of 7/10 at its worst moments, and any scene with Elsa is automatically a 9.

It was that bad, or this looks that enticing (or both)?

They're not my favourite part, it's true - but they're also part of the "I wish this had been developed more," since they're just kind of there and gone when needed.

And I need to respond to this:

    With this.
