Turn 3: The Amazing Mahou Shoujo Lacie & Lovely Sidekick vs A Poor, Innocent Janitor

Not even speaking, I grab onto Demios as it moves rapidly back. It's wings flick out in response to my thought, and proceed to go berserk - but not at the janitor. Demios's wings carve apart the ceiling of the corridor and the floor ahead of us, bringing blocks of concrete down upon the now unstable floor in front of us.

Smashing through the floor, the blocks bury the janitor, hiding it from my sight. Now that the floor is unstable, and with the breaking ceiling, my only option is to go downstairs. Still retreating, I make for the stairs at the end of the corridor (or at least, the ones that I think are there). I can't tell what's happened to the janitor, but hopefully... it... went through the floor. Upstairs it is, then; I need to get to the infirmary, badly. As it stands now, though, I need to stop the bleeding.

    Name: Lacie/Max L. Rowan
    Age: 17
    Gender: Female
    Race: Enhanced Human

    Stats

    STR: 15/16
    DEF: 10/11
    AGI: 16/17
    SPI: 20
    EVA: 21/22

    SP: 95/120
    HP: 45/70

    Perks

Two for the Price of One
Since Max was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder, the two personalities that make up “Max” share equal time in his/her body. (???)
[When Lacie is on, STR and DEF are lowered by 4, and SPI, SDEF, EVA and AGI are increased by 2. ???]

Invocation: Demios, the Queen of Hearts
The Queen of Hearts takes the form of a bubbling, blackened shadow that vaguely resembles a tall woman before it physically manifests from that shadow. When physically manifested, Demios takes the form of a giant skeleton with the head of a goat, wrapped in rags. It has two large, razor sharp wings which it uses for its main method of attack. It can also defend Lacie somewhat, as it can be placed in front of physical attacks to deflect them. It must remain within a certain range of Lacie at all times. ???
[15 SP is used to summon Demios, which costs 5 SP to maintain. If Demios is hit with a physical, Max/Lacie receive damage as normal, but said damage is reduced by 10. Attacks with Demios sharpened wings deal SPI damage, and can cause level 1 bleeding, with smaller chances of level 2 bleeding. Demios’ speed, overall, is 20. ???]

“That… power… of yours, Rosary… Do you think we could go through the floors with it?” Jayden tried to get up and stand, but it proved too much for her damaged body to bear with, almost falling over. You went closer and managed to support her up, but it became very clear that she was still in no condition of walking with her leg.
“Definitely. Just… lead the way, and we can make it to the first floor together, alright. Take it slow, don’t make loud noises, let me look around every corner to see what’s going to be ahead. That should get us there.”

Am I trying to be an optimist? As she is now Jayden is dead weight to survival. The pragmatic side of me wants me to cut my losses, ditch her like Hayden. Then again, look where ditching Hayden got me. Out of the life. I guess it can’t be all bad, but…

Being nice has its perks. Like making you not feel like a cunt.

Turn 4: YOLO Team vs Faceless One

    Meanwhile, Marissa

The white-haired girl standing way behind the fight suddenly threw something at the ceiling, something that crossed the distance between her and the monster in an instant, a bullet of untold destructive power that crashed against the concrete above you. Such was the strength behind this single attack, that not even the reinforced ceiling above could resist it. Chunks of broken concrete rained down the battlefield, bouncing off your protective shell, and hitting the Faceless monsters that stood before you, which seemed incapable of avoiding or even detecting the debris.

Faceless One has lost 5 HP

Somewhere in your internal word, somewhere in the process of the instinct that had completely taken over you, you recognized this as a chance, and jumped into action. You created a single shield of glass below your feet as you pushed your body ahead. The shield of rejection hit the floor, rejected it… and flung you forwards at a speed you couldn’t have hoped to ever reach before.

Like a meteor, you crossed the darkness that covered the short distance between you and the creature, your claws hoisted towards it, the air screaming as it was ripped and rejected away by your weapon. Had this monster ever faced such a desperate attack, executed by a prey that should have been cowering in the floor while waiting for its turn to be devoured? Had this monster ever fought such a desperate pack of humans, who refused to give up even after being beaten down this much?

Because even as you flew towards it, as you crashed against it, you saw the boy from before, wielding two swords, running towards the monster from behind.

And then you saw nothing but the spraying of blood and the ripping apart of flesh.

    Battle calculation

    Marissa’s Speed
    -20 (Marissa’s SPD) > 18 (Faceless One’s EVA)
    Marissa’s Attack
    -20 (Marissa’s STR + impulse) – 12 (Faceless One’s SDEF) = 8 damage

Your claws tore through the creature’s chest, drawing three lines across it, causing a strange, horribly creepy noise as the flesh was rejected apart by your attack. It was not enough, not nearly enough, and you knew it… but it was something. It was the first damage you had accomplished in this fight, and you knew that you had caught the thing by surprise. As long as you could hit it… there was hope.

Then you looked upwards. And had not your brain been controlled by pure instinct, you would have despaired.

    Meanwhile, Taichi

Pain. Everything else but pain disappeared from your mind. For an instant, pain was all that you could feel, something that seemed to annihilate all thought and make everything vanish into a blank.

You had ran towards it, carried by the wings of wrath and despair. You had only wanted to inflict the creature the pain that you yourself were feeling now, the pain Kaitlin must have felt in her final moments, even though you probably knew such a thing was useless. After all, this monster did not feel pain. This monster did care not about bleeding, or about wounds. Blood was useless to it. The integrity of its flesh was useless to it. It cared not but to devour everything that came across its path, and to bring ruin to all living things. Indeed, it was a creature of hunger, something that wished to contain all life within its bulging gut, something that wouldn’t stop until it had devoured everything and it was standing alone in a bloodstained world, or it collapsed unto itself, whichever happened first. Pale reflection of that which the inhabitants of this world called Hundun, The Featureless One, the horror that crawled in some forgotten plains you did not know about. This creature was just an echo of what awaited ahead, should you wish to continue surviving in this Warped World.

You attack, that should have hit it less than a second after the strange girl’s… had been somehow preempted. Somehow, even within the rain of debris that rained down everywhere, the Faceless One had detected you. It knew you had been coming, it knew you had been moving towards it. You had wished to catch that thing by surprise, but instead you had been surprised in turn. Even as brutal claws slashed at its chest, the creature had spun, moving in that absurd, boneless way that was its trademark. It jaws had suddenly opened when you approached it… and buried themselves on your right shoulder, with such strength that they sunk deeply in your flesh, and crushed the bone below.

    Battle calculation

    Faceless One’s Speed
    -28 (Faceless One’s AGI) > 8 (Taichi’s EVA)
    Faceless One’s Attack
    -35 (Faceless One’s STR) > 17 (Taichi’s DEF) = 18 damage.
    -Surprise attack. 18 x 1.5 = 27 damage.
    Taichi’s HP. 96 – 27 = 69

And as you were momentarily paralyzed by the sudden assault, the thing had used its mouth to lift you in the air, much like it had done with Kaitlin before. You felt all notions of hope abandon you, in this moment of absolute darkness. Your vision wavered, your shoulder burned, the world shook, and everything was tumbling down. Kaitlin’s face appeared in the eye of your mind, and you understood you had no chance to avenge your fallen comrade.

    You have lost 10 Self

    You have gained 5 STR

You couldn’t let it end like this. You couldn’t let this monster stand. Not anymore. You gritted your teeth. You ignored the pain that had become your world. With one supreme, insane effort, the greatest you had ever employed in your life, you forced your body upwards. The teeth of the creature tore at you, but you did not care. This was Masaki Taichi’s essence: a genius of effort, and no creature under heaven or above hell could deny it. You released a strained noise, you teeth grinding against your will. You raised your left arm, the one which was unharmed, which still held that sword Rika had given you moments before. And with the last remnants of your will, the last effort of your battered, wounded body, you unleashed a single, devastating attack.

    Battle calculation

    Taichi’s Speed
    -Hit granted
    Taichi’s Attack
    -29 (Taichi’s STR) – 15 = 14 damage
    -Surprise attack. 16 x 1.5 = 21 damage

The Faceless One has lost 2 AGI and 4 EVA

Never since this creature’s short history had anyone defied it to this point. Never had it been faced by this much resistance and stubbornness. Never had anyone managed to deliver such a desperate blow to its body, not while they were trapped on the jaws of death, their flesh being violated by its powerful jaw. As the sword penetrated through its waist, cutting easily through the though muscles and the enduring flesh, it let out a gurgling sound of surprise and consternation, the first sign of weakness that it had shown during its short, hungry existence. Ran through by the sword, its body trembled. It felt no pain, it felt not the sword that was tearing through it, but it knew about it, and it scared and baffled it. Involuntarily, it moved, and the sword shattered apart, broken at the handle, but having served its function well. With a snap of its neck, the creature threw you away, sending you careening to a wall, and ripping apart a chunk of flesh from your right shoulder.

    Taichi has lost 5 HP
Taichi has received Wound (Level 2) and lost use of his right arm

You couldn’t feel your right arm anymore, and it hung uselessly from your body. But through sheer force of will… your hand had held into the sword, your only remaining one.

    Meanwhile, Marissa

Everything had happened so fast that you couldn’t conceivably have had time to react. The struggle between the boy and the monster ended in an instant, and your companion was thrown away into the void of darkness that seemed to surround everything. And now, the Faceless had its attention centered on you. Twice had you faced it, and twice had someone risen from the darkness to wound it and take its attention away from you. But the third time was the charm, and now there was nobody left to defend you. You understood that the attack was coming, and you understood that the only thing you could do was to brace yourself and endure it.

You saw the thing devour the chunk of flesh that it had ripped from the boy, with obvious gluttony. It disappeared in its mouth, and you saw its abominable neck bulge as it descended.

The Faceless One has recovered 10 SP

The Faceless one extended its two long, spindly arms to the side, and the gray aura surrounding it roared so powerfully that everything else was drowned away. The aura rose, rose, rose, rose in intensity, its cadences rising upwards in what seemed forever, and it climaxed in such a massive amount of power, that floor of the whole hallway trembled and cracked.

And then, an attack so superhuman that it surpassed humanity’s wildest dreams was unleashed.

    Battle calculation

    Rotten Onsalught’s Speed
    -15 (Rotten Onslaught’s SPD) > 5 (Marissa’s EVA)
    Faceless One’s Attack
    -75 (Faceless One’s SPIx3) – 38 (Marissa’s SDEF + Shield) = 37 damage.
    Marissa’s HP. 128 – 37 = 91

    Rot

    Rot
    -25 (Faceless One’s SPI) – 18 (Marissa’s SDEF) = 7 damage
    Marissa’s HP. 91 – 7 = 84

It hurt. It hurt like hell. You were hurled backwards by the sheer power behind the attack, and you felt your flesh decay where the gray aura had touched you. New wounds opened all over your body, soaking your clothes in red, and blood came out from your mouth. You found yourself in the floor, some meters away from the monster. The world around you seemed to have turned into a swirl of red and teal.

    Repel Shield

    Marissa’s Reflect
    -20 (Marissa’s SPI) – 12 (Faceless One’s SDEF) = 8 damage

The creature let out another gurgle of sheer surprise. Part of its attack had somehow bounced back towards it, and you could see a new wound open on the body already riddled by uncountable wounds. The monster had been damaged beyond any sort of measure it could have done beforehand. And as such, it was invaded by a rage that could be felt despite its lack of a face. Its demeanor had changed; its movements had become more crisp, more sudden and furious. The aura of gray around it whirled and roared, like a storm amidst a raging ocean. The rain of debris had ended, and now it was unhindered except for the broken sword buried deeply in its waist.

It moved towards you, slowly, cautiously. Had it decided you were the biggest threat left? Your body was momentarily unable to move, still processing the damage received in the earlier onslaught. Was it going to finish you off?

The Faceless One stopped, and stared ahead in curiosity.

After all… someone who shouldn’t be there had appeared between you and it. Someone who you had last seen trembling in fear in the corner, about to wet herself from sheer terror. Someone who was not even an element in this fight, someone who, by all means, shouldn’t be defying the monster before her.

“L-l-leave Mari a-alone!” Rowina Besley stepped forwards, both arms extended to the side, her body trembling like a leaf as she stood between you and death. Around her, a purple-colored mist of poison hung like a veil, a mist so dangerous that you knew by instinct that even nearing it would put you in peril, shield or not. But a mist that was meaningless against this monster, whose body had already died a long time ago. Poison would do nothing against it.

Yes, like a small animal who stood to protect its fallen companion from a threat much bigger than it would ever be, Rowina had decided to protect you with her own body, blocking the path of the abomination, invaded by a fear so deep that she was shuddering and twitching by just being near it. Even though this fear was enough for anyone to lose their mind and lose themselves to the depths of madness, she gritted her teeth, trying to stop the trembling of her limbs, and faced the creature. She wouldn’t let it pass.

    Meanwhile, Rika

You had seen everything happen from afar. However, you were also the only one far enough to notice something: Jane’s aura had faded. You looked towards her with worry, and saw that the aura had condensed itself around her, and had taken into a green color.

    Jane has recovered 15 HP

She opened her eyes, still dazed and looked towards you.

    “Rika… are you… alright?”

    SELF Mechanics

Self: The number that represents the integrity of your soul. Defined by your own sense of identity, your own ego, and the recognition of others, as a warrior fueled by the power of your own spiritual energy, the Self could be called your lifeline, your most basic and most precious characteristic, as your very spirit depends on it. If your Self is in a low value, hits zero, or hits negative values, many bad things may occur, although there may be the possibility of getting benefits out of it, depending on the situation.

Self Loss: Ther exist many events in Titanomachy that can reduce your Self value. Ranging from a direct interference in your soul, as happened at the end of the Prologue, to attacks on your mind, to certain kinds of insanity, to the loss of someone precious to you. Enhanced Humans, beings that have achieved a measure of control over their own soul, can control the loss of their Self somewhat, and are able to voluntarily reduce it, converting it into an enhancement to their own body, which has become deeply connected to the soul. Half of the Self voluntarily lost can be converted in stat points for a single turn.
As an example, Taichi lost 10 Self, and converted them into 5 points of STR for this one turn, which he used to hit the Faceless One even harder.

Self Gain: Self can be recovered by certain events, as well as by augmenting the Relationships of your character, both in depth and in number. Also, like with SAN in Onigokko, you can attempt to transfer some of your own Self (for a maximum initial value of 5) to someone else, although this must be roleplayed, and in the case of the NPC, whether he or she will accept the Self points is up to how you do it, and the GMs decision. Each rank in a Relationship with someone else allows you to transfer an additional 2 Self to him or her (25 becoming the maximum at Relationship 10).

    Wise up!

    Name: Faceless One
    Race: Undead
    Attributes: Unliving
    Spiritual Rank: -3

    STR: 35
    DEF: 15
    SPI: 20
    SDEF: 12
    AGI: 28
    EVA: 18

    Perks:

    Painless One [Unliving Trait]
As an undead being that has abandoned the realm of the living, this creature is now a shambling monstrosity, a decayed spirit moving the decayed husk of what used to be its body. Due to this, undead beings are unable to feel any pain, no matter how much their body is battered. Breaking their limbs is useless, as only complete destruction of said limb would be able to stop them from using it. Their body will keep going no matter how gruesome or severe the wounds are, until it is damaged enough to become unable to serve as a vessel for the decayed spirit.

    Abominable One
The ghoulish, uncanny visage of what used to be a living being is able to terrify even the most valiant of creatures, as is the now eldritch appearance it has acquired, reducing everyone’s physical stats by two, and augmenting the difficulty of combat rolls against it by one. Only those who possess defenses against mental attacks of the Terror type are able to focus enough on their own survival to ignore the sight before them.

    Unfeeling One
Due to the lack of eyes, ears and nose, the Faceless One is unable to see, hear or smell. However, its remaining senses are heavily enhanced, and it is capable of feeling the presence of prey through the vibrations they make when moving. Other details are unknown, but it is clear that there is more to this.
Due to this ability, if someone unaware of how his senses work tries to catch it by surprise via means that trigger them, he’ll be able to override the attack by means of unleashing a devastating counter-attack. It will also be able to act as normal during the same turn.

    Rotten One
Its body having decayed to the point it cannot be said to resemble a living thing anymore. Due to this, and the cursed soul hiding within, it also has started to emit an unholy aura that causes living things within to start rotting as well. The Faceless One is capable of manipulating this aura at will. Anything that is affected by its rot suffers SPI damage afterwards, and all HP taken off by rot cannot be recovered by normal means, and cannot be naturally regenerated.
[Rotten Burst – Concentrates the unholy aura in a single burst of power that hits a maximum of two people if they are near each other. Deals SPI x2 damage. Speed = 18. Costs 15 SP]
[Rotten Onslaught – A massive amount of unholy aura is concentrated and used to attack a single target. Deals SPI x3 damage. Speed = 15. Costs 20 SP]
[Unholy Enhancement – By concentrating the unholy aura in its body, it can augment its STR by 5 for one turn, and make the attack check against SDEF. It can also be used to augment any other stat by 5. Costs 15 SP]

    Hungering One
Whenever biting an enemy with its powerful maw, the Faceless One rips off the flesh of the enemy, causing debilitating wounds each time. Will always cause Level 1 Wound, and has high chance of causing Level 2 or Level 3 wounds. When eating the flesh ripped from its prey, the Faceless One regains 10 SP.

It was a pickle. That was the best way to describe his situation without going into too many details. Jordan was in a pickle. He couldn't stay there, with the unstable ground and slowly approaching noises promising death and destruction. He couldn't leave, because that would be abandoning his friends, and he couldn't jump down, because he was liable to break a leg doing so. The added knowledge that Lizzie would be subjected to his decision as well only served to make it more difficult. Part of him resented the girl for leaving the difficult choice to him, a part that was quickly shushed by the rest.

"Guys!" he called down, projecting his voice as far as it would go. "Run! Get out of here! There's something big coming; it's not safe here! We'll meet up with you later!" Whenever 'later' was. Jordan wasn't keen on abandoning his friends. In fact, reducing his number of companions was the last thing he wanted to do. He was a team player, someone who worked best when surrounded by allies.

But still... difficult decisions had to be made, and there was no way for him and Lizzie to get down there safely.

It was a sick kind of fortune that brought even more familiar faces to replace those that had been lost.

"Hold it! You have to spread out!" he yelled to the newcomers. "The floor isn't safe; it broke a while ago. Gabe, Ray and Jozefa fell."

Shit. Why were they even there? Had they come from above? Were they the source of that creepy-ass noise?

"...please don't tell me you're running from some kind of giant monster. There's no way to go back down without jumping, and it's not the kind of fall you can walk away from."

It's the voice of a friend that draws me out of my reverie.

Watching half of my plan fall apart, watching as Taichi was flung across the room, the thing swallowing a chunk of his arm, as if it was the most natural thing in the world to do. My emotions flare up, it's only been a few moments, but in these few moments, so many of my classmates, my allies, had been harmed and tossed aside by this thing. I'm angry, angry enough to just charge forward and tear at it with my hands, willing to toss aside logic just to make sure that the damn thing suffered at least as much as it had made us suffer, but-

Jane's aura had changed, a green light where the light had once been azure, and it seemed like she was talking better, the wheezing sound of her breathing fading away into her usual manner of speech.

"Yes, I'm alright," responding to her without really thinking about it, for a moment, I want to cry, "You shouldn't have tried to catch me though..."

My attention split between Jane and the monster, who was staring down the girl who had once been shaking in the corner, and was now exuding some sort of toxin, my thoughts are torn about my next course of action.

    I have to do something.

The president had gotten hurt fighting this thing, Taichi had gotten hurt fighting this thing, and...

Looking back at Jane, my protective instincts flare up.

Someone I could call a friend had gotten hurt because of that thing as well.

"Listen... Jane, please don't be reckless like that. You scared me..."

I can't just watch this anymore.

A section of the wall, a reflection pulled from the Mirror World to protect me, appearing in the air in front of me, hovering, as my absolute last resort to defend myself, I turn my back to my friend, not to ignore her, but because I will definitely protect her without fail.

    (BGM On)

"...I'm tired of just standing back and shooting. I'll distract it, you go try and wake up Kaitlyn, alright?"

It's not a fool's errand. Taichi and the President, as well as the two new girls, had all done their part to bring this bastard down. Their efforts weren't meaningless, although this thing seemed so much like a tyrant, it had made a sound, a gurgling noise of surprise when Taichi had cut so deeply into it's body.

The movements of the creature were off.

    Taichi had definitely weakened it.

It sensed movement through vibration, and while it had caught me off guard last time, it had only been slightly faster than me.

    A deep breath.

The creature is focused on the trembling girl, the poison won't work on it, it's been dead for a long time, but still, that girl stands tall to protect her friend.

Everyone was giving it all they had, betting their lives to help each other.

    Name: Rika Griffin
    Age: 16
    Gender: Female
    Class: Enhanced Human

    Stats

    STR: 11
    DEF: 8
    AGI: 21
    SPI: 19
    S.DEF: 8
    EVA: 21 -> 25 -> 35

    Techniques

    -Accel Strike-
While the strength of Rika’s legs is at an excessively high level, her arms do not share this strength, and consequently she is not much of a fist fighter normally. Unwilling to just run from bullies and the like however, she developed a method of attack that put her momentum behind her attacks, turning the speed she specializes in into the physical strength she lacks, and making her attacks far more powerful than they appear.
[+10 STR for a single kick, and adds 5 AGI. Place to gather momentum is needed. Higher exhaust rate than Elora.]

    -Elora/Light-
The culmination of Rika’s physical ability, and a technique that greatly resembles the fabled “flash step” of anime. It is not actually teleportation, as Rika does in fact travel through the area to reach her destination, but because of her borderline superhuman physical ability, as well as her in-depth knowledge of how people ‘perceive’ speed, she has managed to create a technique that allows her to move ‘instantly’ from one place to another in short bursts, thus fooling the human eye completely. Named in gratitude after her cousin, who not only possesses a name that means ‘light’ but also consistently pushed for Rika to better her abilities, it is a familiar technique to Rika, who downplays it as “just moving really fast,” (It’s a pseudo-flash step and she knows it) and probably her favorite, with her using it to not only intimidate bullies (“You missed because I’m behind you, jerk.”) but also as a party trick of sorts.
[Gives +10 EVA for a single turn, when avoiding an enemy attack.]

    Perks

    -Acrobatics (Heavy Parkour Influences)-
While officially labeled as a form of acrobatics in the school, Rika's most impressive abilities lie within the field of parkour, and she is a master when it comes to getting her body to do what she wants it to do, no matter how difficult the task may seem. Rapid-fire flips, handsprings, wall runs and cartwheels are child's play for the girl, and she's practiced enough that "unconventional" movements such as those come as naturally as breathing to her, allowing her to recover seamlessly from positions and terrain that would leave others scrambling on the floor.
[Allows creation of two speed-centric techniques or maneuvers that are set permanently once created. Also allows to recover from falling-or being hit within a single turn, and penalties due to unfavorable terrain are greatly reduced. Further allows to travel through unstable and otherwise unreachable- terrain]

    -Uncanny Reflexes-
The ability to react to changes in the environment almost as soon as they occur, and thus become able to taking advantage of the 'delay' that exists in all actions. While not something Rika has really refined over the years due to living in a somewhat stable environment, it is still something that she was born with, and has been quite useful in mundane things over the years, such as sports, or crossing the streets during rush hour. [Effectiveness of surprise attacks is reduced. AGI and speed of enemy attacks that can be predicted due to the reflexes are reduced by 1.-If put on a situation where falling from an high height, or similar, chances of grabbing into something or recovering are increased]

    -Marksmanship-
The ability to accurately strike targets from a distance. Contrary to what the name of the perk implies, Rika has never even held a firearm, let alone fired one. Her prowess with projectiles actually stems from things that she is able to throw, and was born from a "game" she used to play as a child, where she would try to knock fruit from a tree from the back porch of her house, using only rocks as projectiles. Eventually extended to dart throwing when she was forced to move to a different foster home, but she still finds pleasure in being accurate in her throws, and is rather proud of her impressive accuracy.
[When throwing an object, whatever that is, damage +3. Chances of causing status effects with the thrown object are slightly increased.- Also, speed of thrown objects is increased by 1]

    Awakened Power

-Replication Eye ~ Shattered Mirror Gaze-
The power to bring forth flawless replicas of objects, and control them with her thoughts. Given it's name because it can only bring forth things that have been “reflected in her eyes,” it is a mistake to think of the objects as simple replications, rather they are a manifestation of their mirrored selves, shards of a mirror that can all reflect the same object individually.

    Use 1
[Physical attack. Creates small objects that are thrown towards a target from Rika’s direction, and cause SPI damage on impact. When-created, or in-flight, said object can be created up to 5 times in a turn. If only a single object is thrown, it has speed 25 and deals SPI x0.5 damage. If more are- thrown, it becomes an AoE attack with 20 speed, that still causes SPI x0.5 damage. Each object costs 5 SP to create, and a total of 25 is spent to create five. Depending on the object, level 1 status effects have chances to happen]

    Use 2
[Physical attack. Creates a medium object that is thrown towards a target. It causes SPI x2 damage, and has high chances of causing a-level 1 status effect, depending on what it is. Costs 15 SP and has speed 17]

[Spiritual ability. Creates a medium sized shield that can cover her partially, and reduce incoming damage by half, receiving the other half- of the damage itself. The HP of the shield is the same as the SPI stat. SP Cost: 20]

Even if the author is silenced, the performance is stilled and the actors leave the stage, the story will never truly end.

Regardless of the form it takes, as long as there are memories of it's existence, the story will continue on.

In a small ward in the heart of a once devastated town, life carries on as it always has...

    Please, remember it warmly.

Johnny grinned, clenching his fist. It was time for something better, something that would be so, so much more interesting then whatever Mister President's Kid was doing.

"You take one, I take the other two, alright Coach? No need to worry about me. I've got all the strength I need, right here in this arm!"

He almost ripped himself from the ground, hurling his body, the empowered hand first, towards one of the slimes, almost laughing as he neared it.

Whatever Johnny fought, he learned from. And here, he was learning something different from what he had before - there were no movements or steps that were oh-so-easy to learn. It was more hulking, less of a dance, and more of two predators stalking each other.

In the real world, Johnny had learned to be a master of himself.

And here, Johnny was learning how to become a beast.

    Time: Day 1 – Evening
    Turn 1: Ghoulnomachy

You charged ahead, ignoring the protest of Pierce and the girls. Taunting the Ghouls, calling their attention towards you, you stepped forward. The monsters stared at you for a moment, and then ran towards you, clawed hands extending towards your figure.

You ignored that. Like a raging bull going into a rampage, whose eyes could only see red, you lowered the stance of your body, and then burst ahead. Charging like a behemoth, you aimed at the nearest one of the creatures.

    Battle calculation

    Adam’s Speed
    -8 (Adam’s AGI) < 14 (Ghoul’s EVA)
    Attack failed.

However, the Ghoul moved aside with a speed you wouldn’t have suspected from its appearance. Pierce shouted something, and you heard a detonation.

    Battle calculation

    Bullet’s Speed
    -35 (Projectile’s SPD) > 14 (Ghoul’s EVA)
    Bullet’s Attack
    -30 + 5 (Projectile’s ATK + Sidearms Training) – 15 (Ghoul’s DEF) = 20 damage

A bullet ripped through the monster’s back, and while you couldn’t see the wound from where you were, you knew it was big from the sound of splashing blood, and how the Ghoul had stumbled when hit. It had received great damage… but it ignored it. Unaware of pain or wounds, the Ghoul moved towards you inexorably.

“Be careful!” You heard one of the girls, the black haired one, scream to you. The ghoul’s arm rose, and fell towards you like the Grim Reaper’s scythe. Out of the corner of your eyes, you saw one of the two girls you had recognized from the group, the one who you knew as an idol singer, take a deep breath.

Then, she unleashed a screech so loud that you flinched out of pure instinct. It was like the scream of a banshee, only that it was actually beautiful. You saw that from her mouth came waves upon waves of spiritual power, and they traveled forwards towards the Ghoul at great speed.

    Battle calculation

    Screech Alpha’s Speed
    -22 (Screech Alpha’s SPD) > 14 (Ghoul’s EVA)
    Shelia’s Attack
    -24 (Shelia’s SPI) – 15 (Ghoul’s SDEF) = 9 damage

The sonic waves crashed against the Ghoul before its claw could reach you, and almost instantly the creature disappeared from your view, flung away by the force of the attack.

And at the same time, when those energies went past you… you felt something strange from them, something that seemed to awake in your soul, in your brain. Information appeared where there had been none, flowing freely into your mind, telling you about who you were, and what you could do.

    Your spirit blazed.

In this very moment of despair, in this very moment of chaos… you changed. You evolved.

    And surpassed the animal realm.

You have become an Enhanced Human
    Stat cap is now 40
    Spiritual Power Awakened

You had been just saved by the quick action of your junior… but you had forgotten the other ghoul.

    Battle calculation

    Ghoul’s Speed
    -24 (Ghoul’s AGI) > 8 (Adam’s EVA)
    Ghoul’s Attack
    -30 (Ghoul’s STR) – 22 = 8 damage
    Adam’s HP. 156 – 8 = 148

You felt the claws tear at your side, scratching at you and causing a small groan of pain to escape your lips. However, that was as far as the Ghoul got, because between it and you, Lizbeth appeared, her hands closed into fists as she took on a stance that you recognized from having seen it many times on TV. Right… this girl was also the captain of the Boxing Club.

    Battle calculation

    Lizbeth’s Speed
    -19 (Lizbeth’s AGI) > 14 (Ghoul’s EVA)
    Lizbeth’s Attack
    -25 (Lizbeth’s STR + Boxer) – 15 (Ghoul’s DEF) = 10 damage

So strong was her punch, that even the though body of the Ghoul was smashed away by the impact. The sound carried clearly over the air, singing of broken bone and bruised flesh, and then the monster was sent away in a cloud of blood, like a bus had ran it over.

At that moment, you noticed you were bleeding… but not from the newly opened wound in your side. You looked under your shirt, and saw a small patch of your flesh decaying. You could see something similar in Lizbeth. Those gray aura-like emanations that came from the Ghouls… they had caused this.

    Adam has lost 10 HP
    Lizbeth has lost 5 HP

The two zombies stood up, looking towards you with intimidating hostility. They felt no pain, nor fatigue, and they gave no quarter. You couldn’t negotiate with them, talk with them, or understand them. All they had was their overwhelming hunger. Your blood partly boiled with adrenaline, yet partly froze with sheer terror as you understood that these monsters were on a category above than the ones you had fought before. However, Pierce stood to your left side, expertly wielding the pistol he had been using all the time, and Lizbeth stood to your right side, crashing one fist with the other. Blue-green fire appeared on her fists, then surrounded all of her, as she stared fiercely ahead to her adversaries.

“There is no way I am gonna leave these guys all for you, Adam! Gimme one to play around with, you greedy ass!” The red-head smiled like she was having the time of her life, her fire reflecting on her eyes to create one hell of an intimidating figure.

“Seems like I don’t get some superpower of my own, eh?” Pierce mumbled to himself, then stared back at the three girls that had been left behind. “You ladies got powers, right?”

“Yes…” The one who had answered was the second girl you had recognized. Wasn’t that Lavrenti’s little sister, Gennadiya? Her clothes were torn apart, specially her shirt and her jacket, and you saw a very nasty wound on her side. She looked pale, and like she was not feeling very well. Her hands seemed to be working feverishly with some plastic bands you had no idea of what they were for.

“Okay, then you three stay behind and support us. Don’t get near these monsters for anything in the world.” Pierce looked back at the Ghouls.

“I only have three bullets left. Well…” He grinned, a thin, almost predatory grin that made him look like a wolf who had found a specially appetizing prey. “It is gonna have to be enough.”

    Wise up!

    Name: Ghoul
    Race: Undead
    Attributes: Unliving
    Spiritual Rank: -2

    STR: 30
    DEF: 15
    SDEF: 15
    AGI: 24
    EVA: 14

    Terrorize II
The ghoulish, uncanny visage of what used to be an human being is able to terrify even the most valiant of humans, reducing all their physical stats by two. Only those who possess defenses against mental attacks of the Terror type are able to focus enough on their own survival to ignore the sight before them. Only affects those with Human Attribute.

    Aura of Rot
The Ghoul’s body has decayed to the point it cannot be said to resemble a living thing anymore. Due to this, and the cursed soul hiding within, it also has started to emit an unholy aura that causes living things within to start rotting as well. Anyone who penetrates the boundary of the gray-colored aura that surrounds the Ghoul will lose 5 HP regardless of defense, and any attack by means of something organic will be slowed down by 5. All HP taken off by rot cannot be recovered by normal means, and cannot be naturally regenerated.

    Intimidating Presence
There is something about Lizbeth’s presence that seems to, in combination with her brash attitude and hot-headed stubbornness, causing most people to feel slightly intimidated by her. Precision rolls directed towards her are reduced by 2, but Relationship advancement is lowered. Only works on those beings capable of feeling fear.

    Cyrus Ferdinand
Location: Sea of UNKNOWN – Zeus High School (The Lobby – 1st Floor)
    Time: Day 1 – Evening

You entered through the hallway, following Alexander. Behind you, Cecily and Craps entered, then Henry closed the door. Alexander stepped towards the door, and put his hand on it. Something gray appeared from his hand, and ran over the door, doing something unknown to it.

Then, he exchanged some quick words with Henry, and moved forwards through the hallway, guiding your ragtag group. The boy who had been at the door remained behind.

“Johnny Justice? No, I haven’t seem him yet, but he is a though guy. Wouldn’t surprise me if he makes it here anytime soon.” With Alex’s words, you moved through the hallway, opened a second door… and finally found yourself in the lobby.

It was a big, spacious room, in which a lot of chairs, desks and tables had been piled around, probably carried from other rooms in the first floor. Many doors seemed to go to the lobby, twelve in total, although some were blocked by chairs and desks. The whole room seemed sort of wonky, the floor rising upwards and falling downwards on irregular intervals, but it seemed to be structurally sound, and did not look like it was going to crumble down anytime soon.

And there were students. You counted them with you eyes, but then gave up. There were at least upwards of sixty students, maybe seventy, give or take. Unsurprisingly, most of them seemed to be wounded, and covered in makeshift bandages. Most of them were looking in surprise at you and Craps, and soon the room was invaded by the voices of the students talking with one each other. You however, ignored the rumors and looked around, to see who you recognized and who you did not.

Suddenly, a shout silenced all the sounds and rumors, and you looked at a section of the place where the survivors of Zhong’s gang seemed to have concentrated into, and where Cecily had walked off to. One of them seemed to be arguing loudly with Rosalin Lovell and Rose Deschamps.

“It is my cousin, damnit! You fuckers don’t have the right to get in my goddamn way!” Jason Lockwood shouted in pure anger, his muscles bulging as he closed his fists, looking like he was about to punch someone.

Alexander sighed, and walked towards the fight the moment Rosalin had started to scream back. “Then go and get killed you fucking idiot!” it seemed that she had reached her boiling point.

“Calm down, everyone.” Alexander stepped between them, and faced Jason severely. “Look, going out there like you are right now will get you killed. If your cousin is still alive, then she is very probably in the dorm building. Trying to search this big school as we are right now will get us nowhere.”

Jason looked at Alexander, and for a moment, you thought he was going to punch him. However, someone put a hand on his shoulder, as if containing him.

“Be reasonable, Jason. It is no use to get into a fight right now.” One of the calmest members of the gang, Zack Brown, had stepped on, and stopped him before things went further to hell. The boy looked at his companion, then shrugged his hand off before stepping away.

“Whoever made you guys kings of the apocalypse in any case?” You heard him grumble. “Where the fuck are Zhong and Stacy? They wouldn’t let themselves be ordered around by this bunch of pussies.”

At that moment you felt someone stand behind you. “Cyrus! I knew you were going to make it!”

You turned, and you saw Joaquin, grinning at you. He was covered in blood, and you saw that one of his arms was a mess of bandages, as was his chest, but he seemed to be taking it pretty well, judging from the way he walked.

“And I see you picked up something interesante out there.” He nodded towards Craps, who put on its best slimeface.

    Lacie
Location: Sea of UNKNOWN – Zeus High School (Distorted Hallway – ?? Floor)
    Time: Day 1 – Afternoon
Turn 3: The Amazing Mahou Shoujo Lacie & Lovely Sidekick vs A Poor, Innocent Janitor

Lacie loses 7 HP due to bleeding and wounds

Demios aimed above. Its incredibly sharp wings cut through the air with a sharp sound, and hit the ceiling. An uncountable amount of cuts appeared on it, your attack slicing through the concrete like it was butter. Enormous pieces of debris started falling down on the Janitor, and then the whole roof of the hallway collapsed unto itself.

The monster tried to run towards you, only for a big piece of concrete to fall on it, crushing its feet. Other pieces of debris fell on its surroundings, cutting off all of his available paths. It extended its clawed arms towards, but another falling stone impacted it, snapping it like a twig. More and more pieces of the ceiling starting pelting it, burying it within its cold, stony embrace. The undead monster looked upwards for the last time and let out a massive roar of defiance, its muscles bulging as its body pushed against the debris around. For a single moment you thought he was going to make it out…

And then more pieces of the ceiling fell on it, burying it completely and taking it away from your view. A series of crunching, blood-curling sounds followed… and then it found its demise.

Decayed Being (Human Adult) has been slain

You tried to run out of the hallway, but the floor gave below you. You lost your footing, and fell into the abyss.

    You have lost 5 HP

Location: Sea of UNKNOWN – Zeus High School (Distorted Hallway – 1st Floor)
    Time: Day 1 – Afternoon

You blacked out for a moment, and when you came to, you were thrown in the ground of what seemed to be, judging by the windows, the first floor of the school building. Ahead, you could see where the floor above had collapsed, and noticed that the Shadow Goblin had pulled you out. You also noticed you had stopped bleeding, and your wounds had also stopped aching. However, you were covered in your own blood, you had practically lost your shirt, and the world seemed to waver around you. You were near the end of your line, and you knew it very well.

“You are going to die next monster we find if we don’t get you to safety.” The Goblin said nonchalantly.

    Rosary Flowers
Location: Sea of UNKNOWN – Zeus High School (Distorted Hallway - 4th Floor)
    Time: Day 1 – Afternoon

You advanced, supporting Jayden with your body. Peeking on every corner, advancing carefully, making no noises… you spent what felt like half an hour looking around the labyrinthine hallways, and ascertaining in which floor you where in.

“I don’t want to die…” You heard Jayden mumble. “I don’t want to go like my big brother did… I…”

You finally found a path below. It seemed that part of the floor had given way here, creating a makeshift ramp. It mirrored the one Tomomi and her group had found much below just moments ago. Quickly, you decided to descend downwards, and found yourselves in the second floor.

Location: Sea of UNKNOWN – Zeus High School (Distorted Hallway – 2nd Floor)
    Time: Day 1 – Afternoon

Just as you arrived there and ascertained your position, you found yourself in what seemed a crossroad of hallways, with six hallways in total crossing there, counting the one you had come from. There seemed to be a door in each of the walls of the hallways, that conduced to the other, linking them, along with another door that seemed to go to a classroom.

You saw a faint glow in the corner of your eye, and pulled back, taking Jayden with you, and hiding on a crevice of the hallway you had come from.

You couldn’t believe it, but… you saw what seemed the ghost of a girl, crying sadly, penetrate through the crossroads.

    Encountered Decayed Soul (Human Student)

    Johnny Justice
Location: Sea of UNKNOWN – Zeus High School (Odyssey’s End – 1st Floor)
    Time: Day 1 – Afternoon

    Turn 1: Slimepocalypse

You hurled yourself towards the nearest slime like a meteor, your fist shinning like a falling star as you neared it. It was like the fist of a vengeful god, coming down from the heavens to right wrongs and dispense justice.

And this green-colored slime was standing straight in your path.

    Battle calculation

    Johnny’s Speed
    -20 (Johnny’s AGI) > 12 (Green Slime’s EVA)
    Johnny’s Attack
    -40 (Johnny’s STRx1.8) – 5 (Green Slime’s DEF) = 35 damage.

It had no chance to avoid you. It had no way to react to you. A massive glow blinded you and everyone nearby, and a big gap opened in the slime’s body as your fist went through it. The creature let out a pained, surprised screech, not expecting its prey to show such strength. The acidic slime fell on your hand, burning it.

    Johnny has lost 5 HP

The slime lashed down back at you, its whips aimed at your body, like a creature that when surprised by a bigger predator, went onto a mad, frothing rampage.

    Battle calculation

    Green Slime’s Speed
    -21 (Green Slime’s AGI) > 16 (Johnny’s EVA)
    Green Slime’s Attack
    -24 (Green Slime’s STR) – 12 (Johnny’s DEF) = 12 + 5 (Acid Constitution) = 17 damage.
    Johnny’s HP. 60 – 17 = 43

Your vision wavered as the whips battered your body. Combined with the damage you had received fighting Anderson earlier, and the exhaustion of fighting the zombies and running around the whole damn school, you understood you were reaching your limit. You had some fuel left, but you weren’t sure if it would be enough.

You saw Rebecca run towards her assigned slime, at such a speed that she seemed almost a blur to your eyes. “Leave my students alone!” She shouted, and elbowed the slime with all her strength.

    Battle calculation

    Rebecca’s Speed
    -25 (Rebecca’s AGI) > 12 (Green Slime’s EVA)
    Rebecca’s Attack
    -25 (Rebecca’s STR) – 5 (Green Slime’s DEF) = 20 damage.

The slime trembled and shuddered, like if it had been hit by something much larger than the teacher was. You couldn’t help but to be surprised at her sheer strength, which seemed to be just at the very limit of what a human could accomplish. She did not look all that muscular, but she sure was a physical beast.

    Rebecca has lost 5 HP

The slime lashed back at her.

    Battle calculation

    Green Slime’s Speed
    -21 (Green Slime’s AGI) < 25 (Rebecca’s EVA)
    Attack failed.

However, she moved with the same speed as before, and managed to avoid them somehow, although her arm had been harmed by the acid of the slime.

“Hey, Johnny… what the hell did you do just now? I… I have become something different, evolved or… whatever. B-but I got no superpower for myself…” She seemed really disappointed.

Meanwhile, the third slime attacked the yellow slime, its two whips uniting into a joint attack to finish off its weakened opponent.

    Battle calculation

    Green Slime’s Speed
    -21 (Green Slime’s AGI) > 14 (Yellow Slime’s EVA)
    Green Slime’s Attack
    -24 (Green Slime’s STR) – 10 (Yellow Slime’s DEF) = 14 damage.

And that was it. The green slime’s whips viciously carved the yellow slime, which seemed to desperately use its body to protect the girl. But it was too much, the damage was too much, and with one last, lamenting screech… the slime lost its form, crumbling down into a rain of acid that quickly seeped into the floor.

The red-haired little girl let out another scream, and started to cry, quickly backing down and trying to run away from the slime that had destroyed her protector, and which seemed to have chosen her as its next target.

    Time: Day 1 – Afternoon

Tomomi had been unsure of their safety once she felt the unsteadiness of the floor, but just as she had been about to express worry, they had managed to run into company. They were still a moderate distance away, so Tomomi couldn't truly ascertain their identities- However, it was clear to her that her older brother was not among the two people.

Looking a little crestfallen, she was surprised when it was Lavrenti who shouted. "That is Jordan! Hey, over here!"

So the dark-skinned man was an acquaintance of Lavrenti's. It made sense- She had seen the football team play games before, the sport being one of the most popular ones in the country and attracting large crowds to its games. She definitely recalled an announcer stating the name and associating it with a person very similar to the blurred figure she could see at a distance.

It was likely then that this person was Jordan J. Jones, seeing how he was acquainted with Lavrenti and had played in matches with him, had a similar skin color to that of the distant figure and was absurdly tall. Beyond that, she did not know much about him. He wasn't part of her brother's club, after all.

The other girl, however, was someone Tomomi couldn't recognize from such a distance. There were so many blonde americans that it was hardly a damning feature, and the girl's hairstyle was not particularly odd. Still, if the other person was acquainted with Lavrenti, there was probably no reason to worry at all.

Tomomi smiled at Shinoko, glad that the three of them had managed to find company. However, that smile quickly turned into a frown on Jordan's words. "He's right, let's spread out a little." Tomomi imagined that even though the three of them together could be compromising, she was so light that combining her with Shinoko's weight would probably not even be enough to break the floor. She didn't know if Shinoko would be able to stand on her own without injuring herself.

However, she froze as Jordan went on. Glancing at the hole, she felt a slight worry, but at the same time relief that neither Rumiko, Taichi or Genna were among those who fell. She then looked at Lavrenti, gauging his reaction to the news. More importantly, she couldn't help the bitter smile that grew on her face. She wondered if she should tell Jordan how spot-on his incredulous comment was.

"It isn't safe here." Tomomi didn't answer Jordan's question, choosing to leave it to Lavrenti who had actually met the monster, and instead focused on the present matter. "I'm sorry about your friends, but if the ground is uneven then we should get moving! If we fall, then..." Her grip on Shinoko tightened in worry. If she took a hit like that...

No- There was no point in worrying about something like that. It would make them even more stressed. Tomomi instead tried to calm her thoughts, as she waited for the two others to approach them. If all five of them started to move with the hole so close to them, the vibrations might actually cause it to widen as a result.
Still, she was curious as to who the blonde girl was. Though she didn't have many friends, her memory did make her acquainted with many more people than it was the norm.

"It's okay," Jordan replied to the girl he couldn't quite recognize. "Well no, it really isn't, but they're still alive, so we'll definitely meet up later." He hoped so.

"Lizzie," he said to his sole remaining companion. "We have to go. You're lighter, so you first; I'll be right behind you."

He looked back up to the newcomers. They probably had their own story to tell. Lavrenti had a heavily bandaged hand, and the girl that had spoken was carrying another, much the same as he'd carried Lizzie. Exchanging stories could wait, though, until they were away from the unstable ground and whatever the hell was making that damned noise. "Lead the way," he said.

The moment Jordan pronounced the word ‘Lizzie’, Tomomi’s eyes couldn’t help but to snap towards her. After all, even though there were so many girls named Elizabeth, and nicknamed Lizzie, just merely hearing that name was enough for her to react. And as both groups came closer, both girls saw each other clearly amidst the darkness that pervaded the hallway, a bitter surprise for them both.

Because when Elizabeth Jones, called Lizzie by the friends her former self had a long time ago, recognized the only girl she could not face, the girl that reminded her of her greatest regret and her greatest shame, she was invaded by a terror unlike anything she had felt in her life. Her eyes widened in fear, and she let out a small scream, that expressed a mix of many, many emotions: surprise, fear, shame, despair and consternation.

In the blink of an eye, she moved, and hid herself behind the only companion she had in this hallway: behind Jordan. And as he looked back at her, he could see her eyes full of tears, as she trembled like a rabbit in front of a ferocious hound. The girl was at the border of a nervous breakdown.

Everybody else just looked at her with eyes full of surprise, incapable of understanding the situation.

    Turn 1: Slimepocalypse

"Teach, it ain't like I'm always this strong. It's only the strength located in my arm!"

His eyes glinted with something vicious as he stared at the scene before him, and watched the slime die for that girl cowering in the corner. She was his 'ticket' to that fabled train away from boredom. And if she died, well that just wasn't an interesting way to go, was it?

"Well?! What are ya gonna do!?" He roared, his voice as loud as a lion's roar as he stared at her with burning eyes and a savage grin on his mouth.

This was what it meant to 'be alive' for Johnny, the heat pumping in his veins, the blood rushing through his body, the sheer pain of being hit. That was what living was; knowing once and for all that you were truly there.

"That thing died for you! Ya just gonna let it die fer nothing!? Don't you want some payback?! Show'em that you're not just another piece of prey, girl. It's a dog eat dog world out here, and we've got nothing but the power of our own two hands to carve our place in the landscape!!"

He stared down his own opponent, panting, and felt something burn in his heart. This wasn't just a normal fight anymore, it was showing someone what it meant to live in this world. This place was amazing in more ways then Johnny had even dreamed, and he wasn't about to let anyone bring down his mood by dying.

Johnny looked at his enemy, and pitied it - it was about to experience the raw animal power that his right arm could muster. He didn't have any need for 'aiming'. The boy known as Johnny Justice had always been strong - but now he was an unstoppable force. He smashed his right arm - the God Hand - into the mouth of his enemy and, ripped.

[Precision Roll: Rip Slime In Two]

    Spoiler:

    God Hand
    Spoiler:

    Specialty: Offense

Spiritual Power: (20 SP) God Hand takes the form of a tattoo on Johnny's right arm. The tattoo glows with an awesome power when Johnny activates it, and it increases the power of his punches, but only temporarily.

    Cyrus Ferdinand
Location: Sea of UNKNOWN – Zeus High School (The Lobby – 1st Floor)
    Time: Day 1 – Evening

Seeing Alexander and Cecily drift off to where they were needed Cyrus quietly continued with his tour of the lobby, making his way to a table full of bloodstained rags, ripped bandages, and a bucket of water with a wet rag hanging over the side. Dipping the rag into the bucket and then wringing it out Cyrus lightly dabbed the wet rag over his face, cleaning off some of the dried blood from the wound on his cheek that he had gotten from the crows in the courtyard clearing.

Setting the wet, now bloody rag down in front of the bucket Cyrus looked down to his chest with a detached gaze, brushing the tattered remains of his shirt aside as he inspected the bloody X carved into his chest. Looking back up Cyrus eyed the contents of the table, searching for any suitably clean bandages. Finding none Cyrus turned around and began to scan the room for anything else he could use as a bandage, until finally he had turned enough to face Craps, still looming behind him. Even without a face or eyes Cyrus could see that the slime was staring at the wounds on his chest, though Cyrus doubted it was out of any sense of concern.

After all, Cyrus would have been annoyed if the slime’s defeat had suddenly awakened some feeling of regret over the wounds it had given the young man. The overlapping scars on Cyrus’ chest were to him the price of his loss, a wager that he paid in full. In all of his life Cyrus had never, and would never feel any regret or remorse for the things he had and would win from others, and in turn he expected nobody to ever offer those kinds of feelings to him.

    In fact…

“Looks pretty cool,” Cyrus bragged, spreading the tattered shirt to show the scar off to the slime, “doesn’t it?”

A strange gurgling sound was all that Craps managed in response.

“You have no taste.” Cyrus said, turning back to the table. Taking the rag again Cyrus began wiping off as much of the blood from his chest as he could, occasionally wincing in pain as he pressed the fabric over the still fresh wounds.

At that moment you felt someone stand behind you. “Cyrus! I knew you were going to make it! “And I see you picked up something interesante out there.” He nodded towards Craps, who put on its best slimeface.
Turning, Cyrus checked out the sudden arrival. Bandages, blood and more bandages accompanied a familiar voice coming from a familiar face. Following Joaquin’s nod Cyrus looked up to Craps, giving the rag in his hand a light toss to his friend as he spoke.

“He’s my latest prize.” Said Cyrus in the distinct tone he took when introducing one of his new trophies for the first time. A tone that Joaquin and Johnny had heard more than a few times, but only heard to say the same thing, only sometimes dressed up in different words. Nonetheless, the message was always the same. “I call him Craps.”

    ‘Check out my new toy.’

“Looks like you haven’t bit the bullet just yet.” Leaning back Cyrus sat himself on the table, brushing away a couple of rags and bandages to make space for him to sit. Lifting his cap slightly to look Joaquin in the eyes Cyrus relaxed his shoulders, releasing all of the tension he had built up over the day. “So, what’s up?”

    Turn 2: Slimepocalypse

You launched your fist ahead, rocketing towards the enemy’s body. You smashed your fist, shinning like a star, straight to the only noticeable feature the enemy had: its massive, gaping maw. Betting on it being its weak point, you went ahead and struck with all your might.

    Precision roll

    Difficulty = 18
    Roll = 4
    Failure!

    Battle calculation

    Johnny’s Speed
    -20 (Johnny’s AGI) > 12 (Green Slime’s EVA)
    Johnny’s Attack
    -35 (Johnny’s STRx1.8) – 5 (Green Slime’s DEF) = 31 damage.

The slime managed to close its mouth before your fist reached it… but such a thing couldn’t matter less. Your fist crossed the distance between you and, creating a path of brilliant light amidst the darkness. And so strong was the impact, so overwhelming was the power you unleashed, that not only was the slime destroyed, but it was instantly disintegrated into a rain of acid. Over-killed by your insane strength, whatever strange power had held the monster together was now gone, and the blob of death had disintegrated itself into a pool of acid.

    Johnny has lost 5 HP

You looked at your fist, and you were surprised when you saw the damage it had received: the skin had melted in many places, and the acid seemed to have made its way to your bone. The sleeve of your uniform had melted away, revealing other wounded spots alongside your arm. You calculated you had two or three hits left on a slime before you lost use of your arm.

Nearby, you saw Rebecca attack the slime again, slamming her leg against it with all her strength, in a kick that would have easily sent any normal human straight into the hospital.

    Battle calculation

    Rebecca’s Speed
    -25 (Rebecca’s AGI) > 12 (Green Slime’s EVA)
    Rebecca’s Attack
    -25 (Rebecca’s STR) – 5 (Green Slime’s DEF) = 20 damage.

    Rebecca has lost 5 HP

It was not enough to kill off the slime, but combined with the earlier attack, it was enough to heavily wound it, though, and send it towards one of the walls. A big gap seemed to have opened on the thing’s body, and as it recoiled backwards, you understood its life would be over in Rebecca’s next attack. However… none of the monsters in this world seemed to be the type that would just roll over and die: from the depths of the slimy body, came a bullet of concentrated acid, aimed straight towards Rebecca’s left shoulder.

    Precision roll

    Difficulty = 16
    Roll = 13
    Failure!

    Battle calculation

    Slime Bullet’s Speed
    -25 (Slime Bullet’s SPD) = 25 (Rebecca’s EVA)
    Green Slime’s Attack
    -20 (Green Slime’s SPI) – 10 (Rebecca’s SDEF) = 10 damage.
    Rebecca’s HP. 130 – 10 = 120

Luckily, the bullet just barely missed its mark, and instead of melting Rebecca’s arm off, it only damaged her shoulder, causing her to grit her teeth in pain.

Meanwhile, the little girl seemed to have stopped her run upon hearing your words. Her face and eyes were full of tears, but she tried to face the enemy by herself, standing before a monster that was two or three heads taller than her. And that was an horrible mistake.

Because even if this world had made her into something different, something that was not human anymore, she was still a little girl, and her strength was still not enough to represent a threat to the monster in front of her. The Green Slime feel upon her like a tidal wave, its tentacle like whips wrapping themselves around her limbs as she screamed in pain and fear, and taking her towards its maw.

    Battle calculation

    Green Slime’s Speed
    -21 (Green Slime’s AGI) > 12 (Marie’s EVA)
    Green Slime’s Attack
    -24 (Green Slime’s STR) – 7 (Marie’s DEF) = 17 + 5 (Acid Constitution) = 22 damage
    Marie’s HP. 45 – 22 = 23

“Help me…” You hear her plea as the monster dragged her into its body. Blood dripped from the wounds opened in her small body, the acid burning her clothes and her skin alike. Soon, it would go further, melt through her muscle, internal organs and bones, and then she would be devoured by the slime.

    Marie has lost 5 HP

Amidst her own wails of agony, Marie found the strength to let out a last desperate scream. “HELP ME!” her voice echoed again, as she struggled in vain with the mass of slime that she seemed to have been attached to. Then the monster turned towards you, the wailing and crying girl firmly entrenched on its front, and started moving slowly towards your position. At that moment you understood how bad your position had become: any direct attack towards the creature at the front would hurt and kill the girl first, and even if you tried to move normally to the sides or the rear, the slime had the speed to react and move its front towards anywhere you moved.

Marie will die in three turns

Most of the people in the lobby looked at you weirdly while you spoke, evidently just plain old not knowing how to react to this situation, although after a bit of time, upon seeing that Craps was inoffensive for the moment, they turned their attention elsewhere. Joaquin, however, did not seem overly surprised, and nodded to you as was his custom every time you presented your friends with your new winnings. Rather, this scene pretty much wouldn’t have been out of place in the everyday life you had led until now, despite the… details.

After this, you asked Joaquin what was up.

“Oh, you know, fighting crazy monsters, getting superpowers…” A shadow fell over Joaquin’s face for a moment. “I was with a group of six persons when we were attacked by some sort of… weird dragon monster that I couldn’t understand.” His stare fell to his arm.

“I think I was the only one who made it. I’d also bet my pants it is the monster that is making the building shake like it was made out of shitty jelly.” However, soon the shadow passed, and he looked at you with a certain level of interest.

“So, what do you think, Cyrus?” He smiled slightly. “Of this weird-ass eldritch world?”

My eye fluttered open, and almost immediately I felt a wave of nausea. The world was wobbling, and it wasn't going to stop anytime soon. Looking down at myself, I see that the bleeding has stopped, although I have so little clothing that it might as well not exist. Demios loomed over me, its goat-skull of a head wavering in and out of my field of vision. I stare back at its eye sockets, watching as it slowly dissipates back into my shadow.

"...on second thought, I'll go first. It'd be easier to react in case something happens."

That wasn't it. That wasn't it at all. It was just that it didn't take an idiot to realize his newest companion had some bad blood with one of the new students; the tiny Asian chick of all people. Jordan had no idea what it could've been. He'd shared perhaps a dozen words with Lizzie, and about that much with the new girl, so there was no way he could know what had happened between the two in the past. One thing was clear, though: The feelings from then were still sticking around even in a life-or-death situation.

He didn't feel right, but then again, he hadn't felt right ever since he'd woken up on top of a giant street light. Jordan's instincts were to keep the shuddering girl hiding behind him safe from harm even if he had no idea why, so he simply obeyed. He sent a reassuring smile her way before turning back to the newcomers.

"You guys go ahead." he said lightly, while moving the slightest bit so that he was completely between Lizzie and the target of her fear. "We'll take the back."

Damn he got here faster than I was hoping well guess that kinda screw that plan. Oh well now that I’m in front of the doors and my little friends are in position the little trap still works even if it can recognize it. Not like I really have a backup plan anyway and doubt I’ll think up a new one with this thing breathing down my neck. Fighting intelligent things sure is annoying.

Ahaha really, why do these undead monstrosities have to be actually scary in real life god if I wasn’t so good at keeping appearances the fact that I'm probably scared out of my mind would show. Honestly never would have thought I'd be bad with the undead when I meet them face to face, must be the ugly and the horrible smell.

Though really why did he have to be wary, now we’re just going to end up in a standoff and those are so lame, if you’re going to pull the whole monster act then either don’t pick the fight or just charge head on, god doesn’t he know how to act? Well I suppose I can at least try to use his hesitation against him, and now here goes nothing. Putting on a wonderful display of confidence I address the creature in front of me.

“Really, really after all your boasting is this the best you can do? Well honestly it’s probably the best choice after all humanity strength is numbers you know. So after I woke up I decided to gather as many people as possible, a wonderful little group of superpowered heroes. Why in fact I think I’ll name us the super friends! and this would be the answer telling me that their close by so since you hesitate so much against me you’d obviously stand no chance against several of us so why don’t you do us all a favor a walk the other way, it’s the best course of action for all of us don’t you think." I say as I give a confident smile as I bring up my phone waving it at the monster while also nonchalantly checking the contents of the reply.

    Time: Day 1 – Afternoon

Tomomi could not have denied she was scared of the world she had woken up to, barely some time ago. Monsters whose existence Tomomi still could not completely accept had risen to haunt them, and for the first time in her life she didn't know her brother's whereabouts. Just a few minutes into this vestige of their former school, a classmate of hers had almost been snatched by the claws of death. There was no apparent end to their grim situation, and there was no guarantee that they would survive even a single day.

But even so... Tomomi had not broken down at such a revelation. Knowing that her brother was still alive out there somewhere and conscious of his great strength, she had been overcome by the desire to survive and make her way to him. It was the knowledge that she had not been alone that kept her moving forwards.

With such thoughts in her mind, Tomomi had been able to weather even the dark, suffocating nature of this strange world.

    -However.

Though these feelings had spurred her onwards, she had imagined that they would eventually lead her to Taichi. The possibility of meeting other people was also acceptable to her- Knowing that her other two teammates were also siblings, they had a good chance of running into somebody important to them.

She had never imagined, that in seeking the path with the highest chance of a fated encounter, the world would play a cruel joke on her.

Tomomi's body froze the moment the other girl's face was cast with light. Her hair bristled in shock. It took her about half a second before memories of middle school started shooting obvious qualities that the girl in front of her shared with the one person who had made her life as a student hell.

"Elizabeth... Jones...!" It was barely a whisper, almost imperceptible to anyone who was not focused on her. Tomomi's heart sank in confusion, panic... And even despair. What was this... The possibilities of the girl standing next to her being present were close to zero, yet there was no denying that this girl walked in the body of Elizabeth Jones.

Tomomi flinched when Elizabeth directed her glance towards her, her eyes widening in surprise as her teeth sharply sucked in air. Memories of the girl's previous deeds flashed through her mind, and a dark feeling spread through her body. Her free hand balling into a fist, she felt the anger rising up inside her, the familiar disgust from seeing the actions of a bully rising up her throat-

    Until she heard the scream.

The events happened before her before her mind could process it- The girl that Tomomi had once associated with a starving lion shook in fright before her glare, her eyes turning tender with terror as she reeled back. The sound that escaped Elizabeth's throat left only a dumbfounded expression on Tomomi, breaking her composure.

"...Wh-wha...?" A soft voice escaped from Tomomi's still body. She could not believe what had just happened. In the first place, she could not begin to accept that Elizabeth Jones was in this world, but what had shaken her even more was that the girl had not reacted violently towards her at all. Instead, she had acted like... like Tomomi was the one to be feared.

The whole idea was inexplicable. In the eyes of Tomomi, Elizabeth Jones had been a demon- A nightmare that had isolated her and ruined her chance of truly connecting with her class through the use of fear-mongering and cruelty. There was no way... There was no way that somebody like her could have become the victim in any way...!

"As of today, Elizabeth Jones will not be attending class with you. After what happened yesterday, and having shown signs of mental instability... The headmaster has decided to expel her from the school."
    No... It can't be. No...!

When Jordan stepped between her and Elizabeth, Tomomi started as if she had been slapped on the face. A myriad of emotions ran through her face... Until they finally settled into an exhausted, resigned look. If her mind tried thinking any harder, it would probably explode.

The situation was completely alien to Tomomi, and her feelings were all over the place. A dark thought suddenly came to her- that the incident back then had not been as obvious as it had seemed to her, and that perhaps Elizabeth had truly been affected more than her by it. Even so, a year of constant harassing and torment would not so easily fade away- Tomomi... Could not forget, she could not forgive what had been done to her back then.

That was why it was hard for her to accept... That the person in front of her was even someone she knew.

"...I see. Yes, maybe that's for the best." Tomomi answered in monotone as Jones stated his intention to stay in front of Elizabeth. She nodded, and directed her gaze to Shinoko. Her eyes looked muddled, an expression that couldn't be described as anything but bemusement. "Let's go, Shinoko. Watch out for the holes, okay?" She clutched the girl tightly, careful not to press against her ribs as her mind drifted off in thought.

This world she had landed on... Was truly a nightmare. How else could she have run into a situation which she truly had no idea how to handle in the slightest? She didn't know how to face the girl behind her, and she knew that at some point she would have to give an explanation for her actions.

As she started to walk, her free hand clutched tightly at her breast. Big brother... Where are you? I... need you...

    ...

She closed her eyes in pain, but all she could see was the expression of horror that had been permanently burned on Elizabeth Jones' face.

"What I think?" Cyrus tilted his head, thinking back to everything he had been through today. The classroom full of corpses, the labyrinthine hallways, his jump down into the courtyard, the game of rock paper scissors with the ghost, the monster crows, Stacy Tirrel, the awakening she gave him and Craps. Death, madness, danger, chance, surprises, mysteries and truths. Every turn was something exciting, something dangerous, something unpredictable. An entire day set to the rhythm of his own adrenaline powered heartbeat. If Cyrus had to describe this world based on what he had experienced, it would be...

"It's the most exciting casino I've ever been to."

Something like a glint of light passed through Cyrus' eyes when he said those words, perhaps the first and last time such a thing had ever happened. But that flicker of spirit, that flash of visual emotion passed as quickly as it was unexpected and the hawk-like stare from before grew in intensity and Cyrus quickly moved onto his own questions.

"A dragon? The building shaking?" In his normal, unfeeling tone Cyrus parroted Joaquin's words, pondering them. "I've been outside for most of the day and never noticed any shaking, but I don't care about that. What was that about a dragon? And... while you're at it, let's hear about those superpowers."

    "... Around."

My body is all battered up, my legs are numb and I cannot feel my right arm at all. The victor of this match has been decided and there is nothing that can be done to change that fact. At this point, standing up again wouldn't make a difference: I am going to die either way. Since I'm scared, it's only natural for me to choose the one option where death arrives the last. I am out of air and the pain becomes unbearable whenever I try to talk, but I still try to force words out of my mouth. There is a part of me that doesn't want to admit defeat and tries to finish that sentence as if my own life and honor depended on it.

    "Don't..."

Pressing my back against the wall harder than before, I slowly lift myself up. Once again my strength falls short and I fail to complete the sentence that is meant to bring back what I've lost. My right hand maintains its tight grip on the sword, in spite of the fact that I no longer have control over it. To be honest, I can't see a thing... It's all a blur. 'It doesn't matter', I tell myself and shake the worries away. Since I am half-dead already, it's surprisingly easy to convince myself of anything. So I just close my eyes and convince myself that both Tomomi and the President are there encouraging me to give it my best. From the very beginning, Einherjar has never been an ability that requires sight to be utilized. Whether I lose my eyes, an arm or a leg, it doesn't matter. As long as the sword remains under my possession, my skill with it will be infinite.

    "Don't joke around..."
I make a short pause to test my balance and switch my sword to the left hand, as well as to muster the necessary strength to carry on. "Don't joke around, damn it...!" And yet, though it initially looks as if I had managed to regain my composure, I frown and yell in anger, not at the creature that can't hear me but at the pathetic me who, minutes ago, considered the possibility of giving up. "This... Is nothing..." I can still go on... Even if it honestly hurts like hell, I can go on... "This is nothing compared to what president had to go through-!"

    "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-!"

Without even thinking twice about it, I break into a sprint. For every step I make towards the monster, my body is struck by 'lightning'. I am pushing this body way past its human limits in order to keep fighting, so it's only natural that I must pay for each effort or else it will shut down. Good thing the given currency is pain, because I have plenty to spare if it means taking down this bastard. It seems Griffin shares the same though, as she discards her safety behind the front lines and rushes at the Faceless one as well. Although, she is the first to move by a considerable margin, I somehow manage to catch up to her mid way towards our destination.

    "... I'll match your movements."

So long as Einherjar is active, my body will adjust to all changes and persevere. My technique won't suffer if my eyes remain closed. It's as if I had been a blind swordsman to begin with. Accelerating, I take the lead for a few moments, before swapping places with Griffin. Like cards of a deck being shuffled, our positions constantly change, but it doesn't make the essence of what we are different at all.

    In other words...

    "... But he's mine."

A girl charging towards the beast with nothing but her speed and a shield to defend herself.

A boy defying the monster with nothing but a sword in hand.

---Despite being two different individuals, we've become a single opposing force.

The shield is raised. The sword is swung.

Different speeds, different outputs. But just for this once, amazing coordination.

Right now our will power is stronger than anything this creature can muster.

    Nothing will stop us now.

    There's no escaping this attack-!

    Turn 2: Ghoulnomachy

Feeling the rotting sensation in his chest, Adam feels his adrenaline overpower his pain as his vision goes red. He was angry, fear and fury fueling his body as he readies his body for yet another charge. He hears more protests but he ignores them: these monsters... Even in his plebeian mind, Adam knew that none of this should be possible. It was impossible and yet everything was happening. The two monsters could fight and kill....

Ignoring the stinging pain in his body, Adam runs yet again towards the two Ghouls howling curses and taunts at them. However, his lumbering form was slower than usual. The rot of the ghouls' power was slowing his attack. But he didn't care.

All that matter was that these two things should not be and Adam would kill them back to death.

    ----------
    Skill used - Taunt: Ghoul A/Ghoul B
    Attacking: Ghoul A
