    Titanomachy (IC)

    Location: UNKNOWN
    Time: ???
    May the Titanomachy begin.

In this seemingly timeless space a single witch sung. Surrounded by trees of stone, in a clearing on the forest of marble and obsidian, the witch happily sung a song in which she put all of her heart, as she moved her hands in the air. In front of her, stood a single, massive circle composed of pure green-colored light, the fluorescent phenomena giving an eerie glow to her surroundings.

In this seemingly endless space a single witch sung.

“They say that once Eight reached the Truth.”

“One saw the Truth for what it was, and vowed to oppose it until the ends of the world”

“One saw the Truth as its ideal, and decided to become its slave”

“One saw the Truth as inconsequential, and it rampaged carelessly”

“One saw the Truth as useful, and decided to take advantage of it”

Without caring much about trying to rhyme, the witch kept singing with all her heart. Her hands, reaching inside the magic circle, stirred it, causing a visible disturbance in its surface.

“One saw the Truth as a means for improvement, and wanted to stand at the very top”

“One saw the Truth and found it scary, transforming it into a throne of Lies”

“One saw the Truth as a constant, and decided to become the means of its existence”

“One saw the Truth, and denounced it. One saw the Truth, and it raged against it. One saw the Truth, and decided to become its antithesis”

The girl made silence all of a sudden. Her eyes pointed upwards, and her hands fell downwards, shattering the delicate magic circle in the process. Her rhyme-less song had been rudely interrupted by a tremendous sound that made the earth shake below her.

She now was staring at the eldritch skies before her.

    And they cracked.

    PROLOGUE

    Washington Irving Small Government (Leo)
    Location: Zeus High’s Roof
Time: Morning of the first day

You had no way of knowing it, but today was a special day. Today was the day everything changed, and you could probably feel it somehow. The air felt uncomfortable, a bad sensation crawling around your body.

But of course, any bald eagle worthy of be called such does not pay attention to any of these ominous signals, and rather, seeks a way to get fed.

Just now, you had seen through the window of the sixth floor the principal, Sir Darion Charles Parsons, having a somewhat discussion with the Athletics Director and bro extraordinaire, Robert Karl Dawson. You had seen the other teachers, including the vice-director, reunited in the room.

If you weren’t a bird, you’d be able to deduct by now that a staff reunion had been called today. You, at the very least, understood that classes were off by just watching the school itself, and the quantity of students moving around aimlessly.

This was, of course, a good opportunity to get fed. You suspected that any student of those moving around would be able and willing to give you some food, so it was more of a question of who you would choose.

With a mere flap of your wings, you were in the air again. You could feel a small, dull throbbing in the back of your little bird mind, but you shrugged it off (or did the bald eagle equivalent of shrugging it off) and kept looking towards your potential objectives.

    It was elections time.

    Location: Hideout
Time: Morning of the first day

Ever since you had entered Zeus High, this small room had been what you could only call your hideout. In the east wing of the fourth floor of the building, a bit out of the way of the rest of the floor’s rooms, too small to be a classroom, but big enough for ten persons to fit comfortably. It had a window that gave a very good view of the outside, and with the passing of the time, you had been adding a lot of things to the small room, customizing it to your tastes with items acquired by a certain contact of yours. It now included a very small and crappy TV, a mountain of assorted comic books, bonafide books, and generalized reading material. A laptop was in a table to the side of the room, alongside a bunch of DVDs with some games.

And the certain contact that had acquired half of these items for you was sitting in front of you two.

Ever since you had been separated in different classes, Johnny being in class 404 and Cyrus in class 406, this ‘hideout’ of sorts had started to be used with increased frequency, although the both of you had to admit that the change had contributed gretly in bettering your scores. It hadn’t, however, done anything to avoid you making trouble, and that is what was afoot today.

The half-spaniard half-american boy smiled as he noticed he had your undivided attention. Joaquin Woods did not seem like the smartest man around, and he probably wasn’t, but he was actually pretty effective at getting this kind of stuff. Probably had to do with his gambling habit, which was the main reason you were acquainted with him.

“It is just like I say! There are sophomores, juniors, and even some seniors around. They basically made an entire gambling rig in the basement of the male dorms, and have games there every two or three nights!” Joaquin declared enthusiastically, prompting another exchange of glances between the two of you. The school was staunchly against gambling, mostly thanks to vice-director Roy Lakes, and it was hard to think something like that had been going on without any of you two getting invited over… but then again, a lot of people in this academy had the bad custom of just keeping to themselves and their small circle of friends.

Ever since you had joined, it had been very obvious that you had underestimated the rich kids. Or rather, miscalculated the kind of crowd that would be attending the school. When the old man principal had talked about talent, he had been really talking about talent, and that had become more obvious the more time you passed in this school. This was one hell of a though crowd.

But this gambling rig sounded promising. The dorms were big blocks of ugly cement created somewhat recently near the beautiful main facilities of Zeus High, but they had a metric ton of unused rooms and circuitous passages that could be used to reach rooms not many people knew about. And the basement was always unused and free… yep, the more you thought about this, the more plausible it seemed.

Now, you’d probably need some sort of plan. Seeing that now the both of you were believing him, Joaquin hummed happily, as he got a hold of the remote control and started to do some zapping in the crappy TV, only to get a cavalcade of static every time he changed channels. The boy frowned slightly.

“The antennae must be fucked up again…”

A common sight wherever there is gambling on-going, and thus acquainted with certain two troublemakers.

You still insisted this was way too similar to dropping away cadavers.

It couldn’t be helped. Zhong’s gang seemed to have made itself a name in the state of Iowa, so it wasn’t weird for other gangs to come to challenge them one after the other. Even small gangs like the one you had just fought against attempted to make themselves a name by bringing you down.

Well, you were well known for your silver tongue, but when it came to brass tacks… or better said, brass knuckles, you weren’t a slouch either. With the help of two of your fellow gang members, you had easily knocked down the six weaklings, and were now in the tiresome process of dumping the idiots out of the school. With the staff on meeting, and the appropriate care, there weren’t many chances of you being caught, but it was still a tense task.

And your partners in crime weren’t doing this any favors.

Timmy “Heracles” Bolton dragged four of the unconscious bodies with apparent ease, taking his sweet time to move forward. He was the strongest man in your school, someone whose strength surpassed human limits, and could easily get into a fistfight with an Olympic weightlifter and come on top. Sadly, what he had in muscle, he lacked in brain, which was a complete shame, since he even managed to have some bad boy looks that got him the admiration of a lot of girls. Who were instantly repelled by his appalling lack of any sort of social smarts.

He was, in summary, dumb as a wall of bricks, and was built twice as hard.

Behind him, you walked, forced to keep his slow pace, and barely managing to carry the other two unconscious idiots with you. A furious voice kept hissing past you, and with a look behind, you saw the red-haired girl direct a glare capable of withering the balls of any man towards Timmy. Remembering how she had dropped the biggest member of the enemy gang with a single kick, you couldn’t help but feel relieves you weren’t the recipient of said stare.

“You idiot! How long do you want to take? Days? Weeks? Months? Centuries? The entire fucking millennium? Start fucking moving ahead!” the girl couldn’t help but curse towards the boy, as she walked behind you and did nothing useful at all to contribute to this little expedition.

“Maybe you could help us carry them, Bitch? We’d do it faster this way…” Timmy innocently suggested, only to be immediately rebuffed.

“No way in hell I’m gonna be touching those dirty idiots!” Cecily Ridley, nicknamed Bitch by most of Zeus High, erupted into roaring rage “And don’t call me by that fucking name! From where did that come from anyway?! Shit, everyone is calling me that nowadays!”

“Well, one girl told me it is because you blew some boys behind the school’s backyard forest…”

“WHAT? Who the fuck told you such a lie? I am going to fucking kill them! Who was it? Tell me this fucking instaaaaaant!” You could already imagine the magnificent blush that was covering Cecily’s face.

“I dunno. Don’t know her name.”

    “Then describe the fucker!”

“Wasn’t really paying much attention to her, you know?”

“Then why didn’t you smash her to bits? She was spreading bad rumors about me! You should have done something!”

“B-but… Mom told me to never hit a girl!”

    “WHAT? YOU FUCKING IDIOOOT!”

“She said it was okay to send boys to the hospital, though.”

“Isn’t that just way too fucking sexist no matter how you look at it? Next time a girl starts saying these kind of lies about me, just… crush her, got it?!?”

Between Timmy’s glacial pacing, and Cecily’s constant shouting, you were sure to be caught by the school’s security. You were now in a serious crisis.

If only because you could feel your neurons screaming in agony as you listened to the idiotic conversation.

A super-strong boy whose strength goes beyond human limits. He might not look like it, but he is a literal mountain of muscles. Sadly, he is not very smart in comparison to most of the people in Zeus High. A loyal member of Zhong's gang, usually partnered with Cecily Ridley. His bad guy looks have earned him the admiration of many girls of the gang, but his attitude couldn't be farther away from what they would expect.

Memeber of Zhong's gang, and infamous between the alumni of the school. Her extremely acidic personality, combined with how easy is to make her angry, have gained her the nickname of "Bitch", which most people even call her to her face. Despite how much this fact angers her, she seems to have no intention of changing her irritating attitude, much to the sorrow of her own gang. If she has a more gentle side to her, nobody knows.

Rosary Flowers (Katie) and Rika Griffin (Airen)
Location: Zeus High School – Classroom 306
Time: Morning of the first day

Staff meetings like this were rare, but not a completely weird event, in any case. It had happened before, and most students were happy about the free day this meant. They were allowed to do whatever they wanted during morning, as long as they didn’t go outside the school terrains. Some had gone to practice to their clubs, and some had remained studying and taking with classmates.

Rosary Flowers, who only was in the Videogame Club, belonged to the latter category.

You were sitting down in your desk, taking a look around you. A lot of classmates were studying like mad, probably because their grades had been on a downward curve. This school was pretty harsh on the smarts-oriented students, and you were glad you weren’t included in that.

You saw Lara Klein talking animatedly with her classmates. The redheaded girl was the captain of the Acrobatics Team, and a well loved figure in the school. To her side, there was a little girl with the uniform of some unknown middle school, sharing the same hair color as Lara. That was Mari Klein, her little sister, which had suddenly come to visit her at her school. You didn’t know if that was even allowed, but seeing the little girl sticking to the side of her big sister was enough to make anyone not want to voice any concerns.

Nearby, in a seat to the side of the window, sat Ray Claude, another of the famous figures in this school. The rich kid of a family of actors from Holywood, with the looks and talents to be envied by anyone. However, like many in this school, he did not seem to like his fame very much, and seemed to keep to himself. He now was staring outside the window with an air of melancholy, so he did not seem to be a good candidate to talk with right now.

At the end, you managed to strike up a conversation with some of the girls next seat. You had already started sharing some gossip, when the girls suddenly frowned, and left. You turned around, and…

A creepo was staring at you. Or rather, was staring at a point of you in-between your neck and your stomach. You knew this unpleasant, sad idiot very well, like all the girls in the entire school. His name was Robin Gardner, and he was, in simple words, a complete and utter hopeless pervert that was always creeping on girls, and had already been rejected by every single girl in the whole academy. Yet, this persistent guy did not know how to give up.

Pushing his brown hair aside in a gesture that he probably thought full of what he liked to call ‘swag’, he approached you dramatically, in a strut so… weird that you thought the guy would fall over at any moment. He finally was at the front of your desk.

“Hello, Rosary” He said with a voice that tried very hard to be smooth, and managed to sound shaky and raspy. “I see yours are as big as ever.”

.. Was this what this idiot considered a pick-up line...?

    Meanwhile…

Rika Griffin was in one of the seats besides the window.

Having noticed that your captain, Lara Klein would be busy for the remainder of the day, you though of heading over to the Team’s room, and direct the practice of the members as the vice-captain of the acrobatics team. However, the moment you were about to head out, you were approached by one of your classmates.

“Hey, Rika! Wait a moment! There is something I need to talk you about.”

You recognized that assertiveness quite easily. Bryanna Halls ran the newspaper of the school all by herself, except for some help from part of the previous editor. Before you had managed to understand what was happening, she had pulled you aside, a bit away from the rest of the students.

“I want to make some interviews about the Acrobatics Team.” Bryanna explained herself, pushing aside locks of her pink hair. “It seems your captain is going to be busy today, so, do you mind answering some questions for me? I am sure our readers would be interested in knowing what you have to say, after the prizes the Acrobatics Team got last year.

An average student. So average, in fact, that nobody knows how the hell he ended in something like Zeus Academy. The only thing he seems to be good at is at being a pervert and creeping on every female in the whole school. Due to his weird attitude, other people tend to avoid him, and not even bullies seem to be willing to approach him. Masaki Taichi (hero)
Location: Zeus High School – Swordmanship Club
Time: Morning of the first day

You stretched a bit, having finished your warm-up exercises, and stared towards your club’s president, waiting for her to start. The beautiful girl in question was calmly drinking tea in the table on a corner of the club room, as befitting for an English lady.

You and Kaitlin Walterson seemed to be the only two students that had attended the Swordmanship Club today. Alexander was busy with student council matters, and neither the twins (thankfully) nor the other usual members were anywhere to be seen. At first, you had thought of challenging the president to a practice match, but then she had proposed for you to do your usual practice in front of her. She was very knowledgeable about the way of the sword, and many sword-styles, and her advice had been useful to perfect your unique way of using kendo, so you had relented and started your usual warm-up.

Now, you were grasping your bokken, about to initiate the practice, when…

    “”HELLO SEMPAI!””

The aforementioned twins arrived into the classroom like a storm, or rather, a natural disaster, filling the ambient with noise in an instant, and nearly giving you a heart attack. Komiya Rumiko and Shinoko had been fairly recent arrivals from Japan to the USA, so while they could speak English pretty well, they seemed to not have quite let go of some Japanese customs, like using honorifics. And calling you Sempai, which had started to become sort of your embarrassing nickname of sorts in this school. Even your precious little sister had called you ‘sempai’ jokingly the other day! You needed to do something about this some time soon.

“Oh? Sempai is practicing?” Having noticed that, Rumiko sat down, her ponytail swinging behind her, and then jumped back up, a new idea having occurred to her. “Then, we can have a sparring match!”

“I think you are a bit too far from his level to be a good match, Nee-chan…” Shinoko replied to her sister, patting her in the head as she did so.

“Then let’s fight him both at the same time!”

“I don’t think that would be very fair for Sempai.” Shinoko replied once again.

“Uuu… stop patting me in the head Nee-chan!”

Kaitlin giggled as she watched the two sisters interact with each other noisily. “Well, it seems that we aren’t going to be able to do your practice today, Taichi.”

You had to admit, concentrating in your usual forms with the sisters causing noise like this was not something you would be able to do, and trying to silence them was like trying to stop a tsunami.

“By the way, how is your little sister doing?” The red-haired girl asked you while returning to her tea with an elegance that would make anyone confuse her with the princess of a country.

The president of the Swordsmanship Team, and one of the most influential students in the school, rivaling the likes of Zhong and Rose. Daughter of an English Lord, she has been educated like a noble since birth, and this shows a lot in her demeanor that brings up the image one would have of a member of royalty. If there is one thing that seems to go beyond this, is her passion for the way of the sword, and the immeasurable talent she shows at it. Her beauty and determination have attracted many an admirator, although she couldn't be less interested about such things.

Twin sisters born in Japan, now living in the USA. Two cheeful girls that can be seen always together, studying or practicing kendo. Since they came to the states fairly recently, they possess many speech quirks like still using the honorifcs every time they speak, and talking in Japanese between each other. This makes them outcasts in their class, but they seem like they couldn't care less, enveloping everyone in their storm of cheer, which seems to make it impossible to hate them. Rumiko, the yellow-eyed one, is the more wild, rowdy and loud of the two, always doing something, and being generally considered the most tomboyish. In exchange, Shinoko is the most calm, tranquil and collected, acting more ladylike than her sister.

You concentrated in the math problem before you with no avail. You were fairly sure that this was a bunch of levels before you, but it was still frustrating.

Finally, you relented in the assault towards this problem, deciding that you needed some sort of rest. You had caught up with almost all the homework anyway, so you could deal with this later.

Around you, your classmates made small talk or studied, each in their own business. Near the side, you saw the school idol and mascot, the singer Shelia Hathaway talking with her best friend. Rachel Raeburn was an extremely smart and closed off girl, and how she got along with the cheerful and open Shelia was something you couldn’t answer.

Gabriel Redworth, the vice-captain of the Soccer Team, was reading a History textbook, probably in preparation for the upcoming exam. You had already memorized it completely, so there was no much use for you to cram into it. In these kinds of thoughts you were, when someone approached you.

“History textbook. Please.” The one who had spoken such curt words was the white-haired girl in the seat next to yours. Gennadiya Petrov, the president of the Sewing Club, always talked like this, no matter what. Contrary to what her inexpressiveness would tell you, she was actually pretty sociable, and easy to get along with… as long as you got used to her particular way of talking.

You supposed she had forgotten her history textbook back in her room or something. The question now was, what did you do? Tried to talk with her, or with some other of your classmates? Or just went out to do something else? It was up to you.

Adam Baumer (MssrNeko) & Jordan J Jones (Bloble)
Location: Zeus High School – American Football team Room
Time: Morning of the first day

Most of the American Football team was reunited in the clubroom, thinking about the strategy for your upcoming friendly match.

Lavrenti Petrov, captain and quarterback of the team, had finished presenting the opponent’s data. The Silver Sharpshooter had done his usual analysis of the enemy team’s strengths and weaknesses, pointing them out with incredible precision. This time, you would be taking on the sub-champion of the past tournament that you had barely defeated by a single lucky touchdown. Like always, Lavrenti searched for the hardest possible opponents to practice with and maintain the team’s level.

The emotions of the team ranged from competitive spirit, to disbelief, to sheer terror. A lot of the underclassmen, despite their talent, showed little in the way of temple and dedication, and you suspected that once this year’s season was over, and the seniors graduated, the Zeus High team would fall down from the throne it once held.

Taking a look to your classmates, all of them seemed to be focusing on Lavrenti’s words, except for, of course, the single girl of the team. No, not the manager, but a player. Nobody had ever contested Lizbeth Moores’ place in the team ever since you had seen her push through the whole enemy line in the tryouts, and go toe to toe with the A-Bomb himself in a lineman contest, with the victor remaining undecided. Shame that even her brain seemed to be made by muscles, and that she was drooling all over the bench. With how busy her schedule was, did this girl ever sleep?

You were pondering such questions, when suddenly two persons burst into the club running as fast as they could. The last two persons of the football team had arrived, looking like they had ran from the other side of the school to the clubroom. The ones who would get so late to an important meeting couldn’t be anyone but the two troublemaking Rain brothers.

William Rain entered boisterously, his jacket dragging behind him as he approached the team. “Hey there! A-Bomb, Triple J! How are you guys doing? And you capt-“ he shat his mouth up once he saw Lavrenti sending him a glare that would have made a lesser man cower in terror.

“You are late, William. Care to explain yourself?”

“Ahaha… you see, Captain, me and my bro had to go help our little sis with something…” Everyone’s stares went from William, to his older brother, Nathan Rain, who was conversely staring at his younger brother with clear disgust.

“… You will clean up the clubroom after we are done, William.” Lavrenti sighed as he went back to the files he had been reading.

“What? That is not fair! Nathan also arrived late!” protested William, but another glare from his captain was enough for him to drop the matter.

“I know you just drag Nathan into whatever idiocy you are up to. Anyway, just sit down, and keep silent. I’ll have someone inform you two of what you missed later.”

Sighing once again, Lavrenti closed the files, and stared with intensity into the eyes of each one of the team’s players. “Lane High has not changed their lineup at all during the break. Their players are bound to have improved, but it is still the same team we fought last time. We have new additions, and we have trained regularly without break. Tomorrow, our training will begin with Coach Kian’s special schedule. Today, you are free to do what you will, but remember to be available for tomorrow. This meeting is dismissed, someone please wake the knucklehead up.”

With these final words, the meeting was over.

It is known that most football teams of the nation are now clamoring for him when he finishes high school. It is rumored that his relationship with his sister, Gennadiya, is very strained. Lavrenti himself is a very serious and calm man, that is always thinking of training and his next match. Is widely respected in the Zeus Academy, and is often used to mediate disputes between students due to his tranquil disposition. He has been seen angry once, and at that time, the one member of Zhong's gang that tried to laid a finger on his little sister woke up on the hospital.

Captain of the Basketball Team, and a runningback for the Football Team. Calls himself an expert at ball handling, and always ends up being made fun of because of that. Quite arrogant and with a big mouth, but his earnest attitude makes him well-liked, If only he didn't get into fights all the time with anyone who calls him out on his hubris. Makes a perfect team with his brother, Nathan Rain. Jane Rain is their little sister.
    Relationships: Adam: 1. Jordan: 1.

    Lizbeth Moores
    http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1122996
A well known figure within the school, Lizbeth is the one girl in the whole of Zeus that participates in almost all of sport teams, normally dominated by male figures. With the physical toughness to rival any boy of her age and beyond, Liz is not only the Captain of the Boxing Club, but also an ace of the Soccer Team, a linemen in the Football Team, an important figure in the Baskterball Team, and one of the best members of the Track Team. An extremely hotheaded person that seems to burn with neverending fire, she always seems to pursue her objectives with all her strength, and accomplish them without fail. Shame her grades are so low...

Part of the Basketball Team, and a runningback for the Football Team. William's older brother by 10 months, he is much more calm and reserved than his brother. Seems to avoid having any deep relationship with anyone, and is affected by some sort of unlucky streak that has been going since he entered the school. His avoidance of others makes him a big unknown as a person, but he is famous as one of the two troublemaking Rain Brothers.

Today had been a fairly boring day. Most of the soccer club members seemed to be busy with an exam or other stuff, so you had no club practice to attend today. Most of your classmates were also stuck in the classroom with nothing to do, and thus a card game had somehow managed to start. You thanked god that Cyrus Ferdinand wasn’t around the class, or this would have turned into hell pretty fast.

Of the most notable classmates around, only two had remained behind. Krystine Winfield and Ida Lockwood were inseparable as always… although for once, Krystine had managed to put Ida in a pretty embarrassing outfit.

Krystine was a very well known member of the Acrobatics Team, the Drama Club, and the Sewing Club. The girl was in charge of making most of the costumes for the Drama Club… and also loved to put some of her creations in her best friend, Ida. Not that seeing Ida in a Gothic Lolita outfit was something you disliked, but it was hard to not wonder how many school regulations that was violating.

You were busy in such thoughts, when the door of the classroom was violently opened, and lo entered a boy whose hair was died deep red. With a few long strides, he pushed a pair of classmates aside, and started to talk to Krystine in a furious whisper, a very threatening expression in his face.

There was no doubt this guy was a member of Zhong’s gang, and going by Krystine’s face, who had now stepped in front of a cowering Ida, his intentions of intimidation were pretty noticeable, even if you couldn’t hear what he was talking about.

    NPC info!

    Krystine Winfield
    http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1468083
A member of the Acrobatics Team, and also part of the Drama Club and the Sewing Club. An expert at creating various kinds of costumes and disguises, and also possessing incredible athletic ability, it seems that there is nothing that Krystine Winfield cannot do. Always greeting everyone with a smile, she is considered the most wanted girl of the whole school, although she keeps rejecting anyone's proposals, be either from boys or girls. Does not get well along with Lara Klein, her captain, for unknown reasons.
    Relationships: Max 1.

    Ida Lockwood
    http://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1454426
Member of the Drama Club, and their poster girl. Can always be seen wearing some weird costume or the other that was forced in her by Krystine, her best friend. Her timid attitude makes her popular between the students, but she shuns all contact with boys, and mostly spends her time with Krystine. A strange figure that can be seen in the rooftop at times, staring at the distance.

“Hello, Rosary,” He said with a voice that tried very hard to be smooth, and managed to sound shaky and raspy. “I see yours are as big as ever.”
Is this dumbass serious? He can't honestly think this is a way for him to get any kind of chick, he has to be 730 as fuck. There ain't no way he'll get any kind of girl like this, making blatant comments on the size of their breasts and telling them about it straight to their face. If I could lift I would sock him in the face already, what a loser.

I haven't heard a pickup line this badly OD'd until I worked with that subset of dorks in that unfortunate part of my life when I got that stupid-ass promotion. Like, damn, those kids would make pickup lines that would make you try to jump off Lady Liberty.

Also, the fact he hasn't hit on me until now is mildly insulting. It's implying I'm a low-tier kind of gal, and now I'm offended. I ain't that bad lookin'.

    Great, my day is ruined...

Right, Rosary. Calm the hell down, this ain't something to be too worked over.

"'Ey, Boy Wonder," I say, before noticing it the New York accent is leaking in. Stay calm, Rose, you'll be fine. "My eyes..."

I click my tongue twice, and point up, just to drive the message home. I'd lift the numbskull's head up for him, but I'm afraid of getting some kind of God forsaken disease. Bet he has some sort of STD despite never laying hands on a girl.

"...Are up here. Got it? Good. Now fuck outta here and leave me alone, I ain't got time to deal wit 'cha sexual harassment."

...Nevermind. Damn, this dude is pushing buttons, and I went full Brooklyn on him at the end. Great, great, good job reinventing yourself Rosary. Ten outta ten keeping it subtle.

    But seriously, fuck this guy.

I had always had a bad habit of staring out the window.

It wasn't like there was anything particularly interesting going on outside the classroom, the school grounds were the same as they had always been, and yet I had always found that it was surprisingly easy for me to get lost in the world outside. Watching the wind blow through the trees, the delinquent students moving around on the front lawn where they didn't think anyone could see them, and even the late students, reluctantly moving towards the front door to accept their fate.

It was funny, I hadn't liked this school very much at first, but it had really grown on me these past few months.

My gaze drifting from the outside world to the classroom, I can't help but raise an eyebrow as Robin crosses the floor to Rosary with his usual... uh... elegance...

    "..."

I...I think I might have to hurt him.

I'm sure Rosary can handle herself, but the sheer... Shamelessness of it all makes me want to stand up and do... something...

But if I let him get to me every time he acted like a freak to one of my classmates, I'd die an early death from stress.

Just ignore it Rika, you've got a team to help lead...

    "Oh."

    That's right.

The captain seemed pretty busy talking to her friends this morning, and she worked hard enough that I didn't want to take away whatever free time she had, but the other members of the Acrobatics Team were probably waiting for some sort of instruction...

And by that I mean they were probably slacking off.

As the new Vice-Captain of the team, that was a sin that I could not allow-!

"Alright," rising to my feet with a smile, I punch the palm of my left hand with my right as I start towards the door, "I'm coming to train, so those guys better be in the middle of drills-"

Without waiting for me to finish my response, the familiar girl yanked me out into the hall, a bit away from the other students.

The news had always been a bit pushy though, so I didn't really mind.

"Ah sure, no problem," smiling again, I put my hands in the pockets of my uniform, "Ask away, reporter girl."

    Jordan J Jones (Bloble)
Location: Zeus High School – American Football team Room
Time: Morning of the first day

Jordan spent most of the meeting sitting smack dab in the center of the room, arms crossed and face scrunched up in a serious expression. He listened intently and nodded a few times whenever Lavrenti said something particularly eloquent. He only broke his vigil to grin and wave hello to William, only to flinch and frown in sympathy when the captain glared the newcomer into submission.

Eventually, though, the meeting ended, immediately bringing a smile to Jordan's face, who was pleased as punch to have weathered the storm without getting yelled at, which hadn't been an uncommon event in his first few days at Zeus High.

"Hah!" he laughed, suddenly expelling all the tension in the room in one moment. "Cap, you can make anything seem like the world depends on it, but I think you're just concerned that we won't take these guys seriously just because we've already kicked their asses once." He stood, spinning a spare ball on his finger, even though it wasn't even a basketball. With a twitch, he flipped it up and caught it in one hand. "Well don't worry!" He said. "The team's more afraid of the Coach's special training plan than they are of some second string nobodies," in a direct dismissal of their hard earned victory a year ago, he confidently insulted one of their most fearsome opponents. A few of the team who had been swinging between hope and despair brightened up at the runner's self assured words.

"Look, even the Liz hasn't bothered giving 'em them her attention," he lightly tossed the ball, and it fell square on the head of the most powerful girl in the school. "Hell, I'd bet we could outplay these guys even with half our players wasted and Banana Head stuck in the locker room trying to fit the helmet over that ridiculous hair of his."

    Small Government
    Airspace
    Morning

A large bird ruffled its feathers, like a cat with a large number of packing peanuts locked on it with static. It hopped from one foot to the other, decided a thunderstorm was not coming, and flopped into the air. Holding out its wings, the eagle wung onto a draft of warm air bubbling up from the baking corn fields of the middle of the middle of nowhere of America, working upward in a lazy spiral.

It spun on the thermal, cranky from an itch in the head it couldn't quite place, and couldn't shake the feeling. He flicked his wings and rolled faster, rolling sideways until he was thoroughly dizzy and slightly less itchy, although that was probably because he was now more worried about being dizzy than being itchy. So, he ended his roll even crankier than he had been when he took off, and wung over to look for something more productive.

Below, he sighted a group of yellow students, gathered around their lunches, chattering. They didn't look cranky, and the cranky bird went for a dive at the center of their group. But the cranky bird wasn't exactly intending to make another few days cranky, merely fix his own day, and so he pulled out of the dive and flew vertical loops, their bottom squarely placed in the middle of the yellow group.

Coming in in a dive, it took him quite a few loops to get down to a reasonable speed, and he flew them without deviation square in the middle of the group until he ran out of energy and slapped to the ground in their circle. He flapped his wings and whistled crankily, trying not to let his crankines show through, which it did anyways. Most of the problems in his life had been caused by a lack of food, and this itch was a problem. He should eat. Eating solved problems. Students were pretty good at food.

    Cyrus Ferdinand
    Location: Hideout
    Morning of the first day

Cyrus sat in his usual spot in the hideout, leaning back on a well made rocking chair that never so much as uttered a squeak no matter how hard you rocked in it, feet kicked up onto a small table he used to organize his cards and other assorted gambling essentials as well as being the makeshift "desk" for their shoddy laptop. It was a small table, only big enough to accommodate three, maybe four people at once, but seeing as the hideout rarely had more than three people in it at a time its size was never an issue. The table itself was hardly anything of importance to Cyrus; he and Johnny hadn't picked it up in any interesting way, instead dropping some spare cash for it on one of their usual expeditions off of the campus grounds during school hours. Rather it was the four chairs around it that Cyrus was fond of.

Set up in front of the laptop was an expensive leather desk chair, perhaps $250 or more fresh from wherever it was originally bought. It was a nice chair, Cyrus thought. Hardly worn at all, excellent for browsing the net off of someone else's wi-fi, and most importantly of all, won by the duo in a game of black jack against someone from the computer club. To its left was a desk chair, straight from any classroom of Zeus Academy, no different in appearance from any other chair that the students spent most of their day sitting in, but what made it special was that Cyrus had won it in his first poker match since arriving at Zeus, making it an important part of the hideout. The third chair was a bar stool, snuck into the boy's dorms by a kindred soul who enjoyed sneaking off of campus and getting into trouble. Cyrus and Johnny claimed the stool for themselves after besting the guy in a game of spades on the school rooftop at 2am. Lastly was Cyrus' own rocking chair, which he won after betting that Johnny could beat the other guy in an arm wrestling match.

While Joaquin went on about the secret gambling setup in the unused parts of the dorms Johnny flipped through a deck of poker cards, inspecting each one. The original owner of this particular deck was one of Cyrus' classmates who had bought it as a souvenir while on vacation in France, and the extra card with the deck that read "Rue du Temple" made that story seem more likely. When he first saw the deck Johnny was immediately intrigued, and wagered his own favorite deck against his classmate in the most simplistic of games, where the two let each other shuffle the decks and draw in turns until someone drew the Joker card. Twelve turns in Johnny drew his Joker, and claimed the foreign deck for himself. After that particular game, most students had made it their mission to steer clear of Johnny and Cyrus' gambles, everyone except for Joaquin, who always seemed to want in on the action.

Reaching the last card, Johnny stacked the deck back together and placed it in a clear plastic box on the table, alongside all his other cards. Adjusting his cap, Cyrus looked up at Johnny, who stared right back at him with a face that was all too easy for Cyrus to read.

"Aguila, do you know if they're playing down there today?" Cyrus asked, letting his feet down from the table and leaning forward in his prized chair, hawk-like eyes locked intently on Joaquin. "And do you know if anyone we should know about is a regular down there?"

'Anyone we should know about' was, in the case of Cyrus and Johnny, a vague term open to just about any kind of interpretation. Anyone dangerous was no concern to the two, Cyrus trusted Johnny could handle things if anything went awry, and Cyrus trusted his own experience and luck to get them through any kind of rigged games. Really, Cyrus just wanted to know if anyone down there was noteworthy enough to have any kind of reputation, because those kinds of people were always the kind who would present and accept the most interesting kinds of bets.

    Masaki Tomomi
    Location: Class 208
Time: Morning of the First Day

Tomomi's eyes shifted their focus from the complex math problem in her desk, towards the Russian girl that stared intently at her. Tomomi didn't really consider herself a sociable person, as her initial distrust of people threw many people off from getting to know her. However, Gennadiya Petrova was a different case. The girl had once approached her completely out of the left field, asking her for help on something in barely a sentence. Somehow, Tomomi had gotten use to these occasional burst-ins, and if not friends, they were at least on good terms.

"Here." Tomomi grabbed the History textbook under her desk, whose contents she could recite like they were a Bible, and handed it over to the Sewing club president, smiling faintly. Everyone was busy, either studying or talking about their daily happenings without a care. Tomomi didn't mind this, as her class lacked the annoying gossip circles that she dearly reviled from her past school.

However, Tomomi couldn't find anything to talk about. Her daily routine was well-known around her class- Whenever the lunch bell rang, Tomomi would rush straight for her lockers and take out a boxed lunch, which she would dutifully carry through two floors and give to her older brother. Many of her classmates teased her for it, but she shrugged it off. They didn't- couldn't understand the fate Taichi had saved her from.

Falling silent after giving the girl her textbook, her eyes idly glanced at her unfinished math homework. I wonder if Onii-chan is having any trouble... As her brother became the focus of her thoughts, Tomomi's smile grew in size, as if she was daydreaming. With the staff meeting going on, he was probably working hard at the swordsmanship club. Even though Taichi had an incredible diligence, in opportunities like these he would no doubt try to brush up on his sword skills. They were her father's precious gift to him, after all.

"I want to go see Onii-chan." The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them. She blushed faintly, looking a bit sheepish. Why was she saying this? Perhaps it was because Tomomi felt she needed to tell Gennadiya something so as to not look bad- However, with comments like those, it was no wonder she was teased.

Nonetheless, her mind was set. They were free to do what they wanted all the way until lunch, so she would go see her brother practice. Seeing him so focused might inspire her determination and let her finish that pesky math problem once and for all.

Tomomi stood up from her desk, then. She grabbed the rest of her textbooks, and placed them inside her bag. Her boxed lunch was in the lockers, alongside the tissues and the dry towel she brought every day her brother had to practice. She would go there and store her textbooks, and replace her bag's contents with the dry towel and boxed lunch. It was likely she would end up spending the entire morning watching her brother train.

    Before that, though...

"Umm, Genna..." Tomomi looked at the girl standing before her. "The history homework is not that hard. If you want..." Tomomi wondered what else she could do for one of the few people she could enjoy being around in school. Her eyes brightened as an idea sparked on her mind. "...I can lend you my notebook too- There's a timeline I made there, so it could help with that." Tomomi took her notebook and offered it to the Russian girl. She didn't mention it was something she'd done after she got bored of memorizing the book, because even Tomomi knew not to be rude.

While she extended her arms, notebook held forwards, she realized just talking about schoolwork wasn't perhaps very good for establishing a friendly relationship. "How is your brother? Onii-chan told me the Football team has been somewhat stressed lately..."

Of course it would be brother talk. Inwardly, Tomomi blushed. She knew so little about this girl, and she wasn't used to talking to enigmas- Or being approached by people in a non-teasing nature. Generally her brother told her everything, and the other person in class right now that she got along with was an idol- They were open about their thoughts naturally.

I go down the little checklist of players I keep in my Art notebook, next to a doodle of one of Krystine's dresses (I thought it was good, even if she says it looks like a banana). It was just a little doodle, anyways.

"Let's see... Gabe's studying, Aguila's off doing whatever he does in his free time, Liz is at Football..."

I start checking off players absentmindedly. Looks like we won't have practice today after all, then. Hmm... I'll go down to the field after school and practice on my own if I can...

Flipping to the next page in my notebook, I see a single line written in flowing cursive.

"Don't forget to finish your math homework~"

Tha-that's-! Crap, why does she put things where I won't see them until it's too late! Groaning, I reach down, pulling my math book out of my red backpack. Sure enough, there's a piece of paper there that's covered in eraser marks and mathematical scribbles.

Looking at it up close, it's not so bad. I only have one problem left, so I write something quickly without even pretending to make sure it's correct, then quickly check around the classroom to make sure a teacher didn't see my frantic writing.

Things seem pretty dull right now, actually, with a card game having started in a corner; I might join that, if things keep dragging on a little. Good thing Cyrus isn't here - if he was, half of that group would have already lost everything from their money to their shirt. The guy's a real card shark, alright.

Krystine's over with Ida, having gotten her into one of her costu- is that a Goth Loli dress? Well, I can't say it looks bad on her, not bad at all… I need to draw this. Reaching over for my notebook, I put it in front of me just as the door slams open, a guy with dyed red hair in the entrance. He walks quickly over to Krystine. From the expression on their faces, and the tone of his whispering, it doesn't seem like a confession.

Well then. I can't say I've ever liked bullies, and especially bullies who threaten my classmates. Ida's cowering now, hiding behind Krystine, who's moved to stand in front of her protectively. I get up from my desk as soon as I see that, walking over to where the three are, quickly stretching my arms on the way to make sure they're limber.

"Hey, is this guy bugging you two?"

My voice is cheerful as I speak, like it almost always is, even as I prepare for the fight that's probably about to start. I can't say this situation is uncommon, so I'm ready to act if it goes south.

    The name is Masaki Taichi.

With little ambitions and no outstanding qualities, I guess you could say I'm your average seventeen year old Japanese student. Except I am not... There is one thing that makes me different from other Japanese students my age. Or well, to be honest, three things. First, I attend to an exclusive school called Zeus High. It's reserved solely for talented individuals around the globe. There was initially no way for me to be part of this prestigious institution but, after my little sister Tomomi received an invitation, I worked hard and managed to get in as well-!

Which brings me to the second thing... I've got a talent. It's not something special like having super strength, being a figure of influence or doing super good at tests. Nothing like that. My talent is growth... I can get better at anything if I spend time and effort into it, and if I am really motivated. Like I've said, it's nothing outstanding... As far as I know, it's not a rare skill. It's something anyone is capable of. But if the people here say that's a noteworthy talent, then I'll play along. I came to Zeus with one purpose: To stay together Tomomi. So long as the two of us are together, I can't really complain.

The third? I don't want to talk about that one, although once you hear about this school you'll probably notice. Yeah, that's right, Zeus High is located in Iowa, USA, far from my homeland. Although my family came to America before we got the invitation to join the school, that doesn't make this place any more likeable. The kind of people you see here are no different from the ones you see in Japan: There are the greedy, the kind, the prideful and the humble... You see all kinds of people both here and there. But there is a cultural barrier here that doesn't allow me to get along with Americans. It's something I cannot describe with words... For now, I'll just say that Americans and I are not compatible.

With my warm-up exercises done, I stretch for a bit before moving forward to the real thing. I am may not be the best, but I am a proud member of the swordsmanship club. I practice a rare kendo style taught to me by my father whom I greatly respect.

The beautiful red haired girl drinking tea on one corner of the room is Kaitlin Walterson, the leader of this club. I don't know much about her or her origins, but there are three things I like about her: She's polite... She's always full of grace... And above all, she's amazingly good with the sword. Not just Kendo, she's knowledgeable in several styles. Having a stronger opponent to fight against... It's one of the reasons which keeps bringing me back to this room.

Since only the president and I came for practice today, I thought of challenging her to a sparring match. I was a little disappointed when she suggested doing my usual practice in front of her, but I guess it's not so bad. Kaitlin is more experienced than I, and she has a different point of view... If there is a flaw in my stance or my movements that I'm missing, she'll definitely find it, and that will help me improve in the long run.

    "Yosh-!"

My body pumping full of energy, I tighten the grip on my Bokken, focus, and prepare to initiate practice. At that exact moment...

---Two lightning devils storm through the door.

    ""HELLO SEMPAI!""
Rumiko and Shinoko, the Kumiya twins from Japan. Like the president and I, they are part of the Swordsmanship Club. Those two are always together, always in sync, and personally I think they make a funny duo.

    "... Hahaha."

As an spectacle literally unfolds before my eyes, I can only laugh heartily. They call me Sempai and, although its rare to see Japanese honorifics being used around these parts, I can't say I don't like it. In fact, it's both refreshing and invigorating, with two exceptions. One, when people who use it don't know what it truly means and two, when your little sister jokingly uses it on you. Honestly, that was kind of embarrassing...

“Well, it seems that we aren’t going to be able to do your practice today, Taichi.”
Kaitlin, the president, announces. I can't blame her for it, with all the noise the twins instantly generate, it becomes hard to focus. However, I am not going to give up on my club activities so easily, and I'm definitely not going to let down one of my kouhais either. Fortune favors the red haired girl, though, and I quickly lose in a contest of speed. Before I can even think of revealing my master plan, Kaitlin has already made a move and asked me a question:

“By the way, how is your little sister doing?”
"Tomomi? She's fine. It looks like she got sorted with a pretty nice class and is adapting pretty well." I reply with a smile. It's a pleasant surprise to know that some people are interested in her well-being. "We're still close as always. Bet she'll be here as soon as she gets the chance to."

Tomomi always brings me boxed lunches at noon every day, but I no longer find that embarrassing. We have learned to treasure our moments together as brother and sister.

    "Oi, Rumiko-chan."
After playing with my Bokken for a bit, I point the tip of the wooden blade at the wildest twin. Putting on my best grin, I challenge her. "You said you wanted a sparring match, right?"

It doesn't matter if our skill levels are different. It's like my father says: 'One day you learn from the master, the next you learn from the student'. At first I was going to suggest going back to the original plan and having them train with me in front of the president... But given their noisy nature I quickly decided against it. I'll have a sparring match with them one by one, and teach them a trick or two while I'm at it. Naturally, I've chosen Rumiko as my first opponent, as she's the more eager to participate. From past experience, I know which of the two twins actually has the patience necessary to wait for her turn.

"I'll take you on after that, Shinoko-chan. Okay?"

Having said all that I had to say, I put on a strong front and shoot a sideways glance towards the president.

    "Watch how much we've improved."

Ah the wonderfully annoying and tedious job of dumping idiots trying to make a name for themselves. Oh how I totally and completely didn’t miss you and to make things worse my wonderful partners are either being tortuously slow or shouting at the top of her lungs, and yet not making a single effort to help. How I wish I could tell her to shut up and help but that would probably just piss her off some more, oh well.

Well at least their conversation is almost entertaining in a mind-numbing way, Tim with his rather comical lack of grace and Cecily with her cute hostile excitability, hmm there was a Japanese term for that wasn’t there, ah that’s right it was called being tsun. Hmmm if she’s tsun I wonder if I can make her go dere, heh well I’ll just have to pick and see, now that certainly sounds like a fun and interesting side project.

Sigh, if is this keeps up we’re not going to get anything done and we'll get in trouble. Sooo, let’s see if I can do anything about this situation because unless I change the dynamic my amusing friends will probably squander all our precious time with their antics.

“Really Tim you shouldn’t use such cruel words against our spirited lady even if you’re just repeating words others have said and Cecily you shouldn’t worry so much about the petty words that others heap upon your artful self for they are obviously untrue. You are not some common cur; you are our sweet lady, a glorious and beautiful rose that we adore, and your potent thorns simply show your considerable prowess that we so depend upon.”

“Yet I fear we are beginning to dally when we should be making haste as we could be seen and harassed by our wonderful security team who might mistake us for some no good scoundrels. Soooo let’s get this shit over with and find something fun to do, I’ll even pay for food or something if you guys get this done quicker and quieter."

“Okay then, let me see…” Bryanna fished on her pockets a bit, and extracted a bloc that seemed to be worn out and very used. Within a second, she also had managed to produce a BIC pen, and seemed ready to start the interview.

“Well, let’s start with the standard questions, if you don’t mind. Let’s see… do you want your name published, or anonymous? There are a lot of students who contribute but don’t like their names published, so you can go with that if you want to.”

    Meanwhile…

Upon being rejected as rudely as he had approached you, it was easy to see Robin’s face contorting into a grimace, anger flashing in his eyes, his attitude becoming more aggressive. You had seen something like this many times around the street, and it was the signal of someone getting way too carried away by something stupid and getting violent.

    “Why you…!”

Your body tensed, sensing the incoming danger. You were about to react, when…

“Drop it, Robin, won’t ya? You are bothering the lady a bit too much.” Another voice interrupted the exchange, and both of you turned to see Ray approaching your seat. Robin fell silent, and sent another angry glare towards you and the boy, before stomping out towards the door of the classroom, with all the gracefulness of a battered hyena.

“Please forgive my friend…” This time, Ray talked to you, glancing sorrowfully at where Robin had been standing a moment ago. “He is just…”

But apparently, he did not know what he just was, so he ended up shrugging.

Relationship with Robin has become -2

    Meanwhile…

You were about to answer Bryanna’s question, when Robin stormed out of the classroom, his fury very noticeable in his expression. It was clear that things hadn’t gone very well for him.

Your stares met, and almost automatically Robin’s eyes went down and checked out Bryanna and you. To this, the reporter reacted with fury on her own, instinctively grabbing you by your arm again, and pushing you behind her. Then, she faced the brown-haired boy down with a stare that would have caused chills to anyone.

“Fuck off, creepo!” Upon being confronted by a furious girl brandishing a pen like it was some sort of sword, Robin apparently decided that discretion was the better part of valor, and skulked off as fast as he could before Bryanna could say more.

“Ugh! What is that guy’s problem anyway?!”

The group of nerdy Asians you had made your way in was probably part of the Computer/Videogame Club. You expected them to feed you, but apart from part of some snacks, it was obvious they didn’t have their lunch with them. You were about to get more cranky, when a savior angel appeared.

A white-haired girl had been making her way through the courtyard, but upon seeing you, she made a detour. You smelled fish, and waited patiently until she reached you.

“Hey there, SG!” The girl greeted you happily. “What is this? You seem pretty angry. Did they forget to feed you?”

With these words, she extracted some carefully wrapped fish from her pockets. A lot of students had taken to carrying that kind of food around to feed you when you were around, and apparently the girl was of that type. She quickly gave you the food, and watched while you contentedly ate it.

You saw her glance up, towards the windows in the sixth floor. “I sure wish I knew what was going on up there. Last time I managed to overhear some pretty juicy info there, so I wonder… although I doubt sub-director Lakes will be as light with the punishment.” The girl talked with you, although she seemed to be mostly talking to herself.

    ...

There ain't much to say. I might've overreacted to the wrongdoing of a dumbass. So, where does the point where I've crossed the line begin so I can figure out how much wrong I've done?

    I can't really say I know that.

My eyes analyze Ray's face for reasons other than his generally handsome features. There's obviously a twinge of sorrow at where that perv was... So they are friends. Noted, taken. The real question is why you would be friends with anyone as shameless as that, but life is life. I can't really say that there can't be a good reason, because I've been the victim of such impossibly bad reasons that certainly good ones exist to cancel them out.

So I suppose. I dig into my bag and grab one a pouch of Kool-Aid, and casually toss it between my hands. Strawberry kiwi. Pretty nice.

"Yeah, I guess I am in the wrong here for cussing him out like that. But, at the very least, can you confirm whether or not that, if I apologized, he wouldn't think he has a chance to even hit first base with me? Because he's striking out faster than Michael Jordan at bat," I say, trying to not say "he totally fuckin' deserved it". Obviously, he did, but I really can't say that in front of Mr. Hollywood, who, miraculously, considers a dumbass like that as a friend.

Because I've been friends with worse.

Seemingly pleased with my response, my blonde haired classmate had started digging around in her pockets for her things, the usual BIC pen emerging as her face grew serious. It wasn't the first time I had ever seen the girl do an interview, but it was the first time I had been the main target of the the interview, so I found myself to be a little bit nervous even though I had no real reason to be.

"Hmmm, well," thinking about it for a moment, I eventually just shrug in response, "I don't mind having my name published-"

Before I could finish, Robin stormed out of the classroom with an uncharacteristic huff. His eyes were lived, his body was shaking, and practically everything about his stance made it clear that Rosary had not only rejected him, but had done so in a pretty damaging manner. To be completely honest, I can't really say that I feel sorry for him, after all...

    "..."

Now he was staring at me and Bryanna... And his gaze definitely wasn't directed at our eyes...

    ...Pervert.

At least have the decency to try to be subtle about it, you little-

Before I can turn my thoughts into words, Bryanna grabs my arm, and pushes me behind her protectively.

My eyes widen a bit at the action, and the words that I would have used to drive off our perverted classmate never come to be, however-

    But again.

Even though its kind of sad that he's become universally disliked by the girls here, I can't find it in myself to really feel sorry for him.

That is not how you approach a girl.

Undressing me with your eyes is not okay, Robin.

"I... Honestly have no idea," stepping out from behind Bryanna's back, I smile thankfully at her, "Guess he's just the clueless type? It's his second offense in the past five minutes, so I would've chased him away, but you beat me to it." Giving her my admittedly useless input, I shrug once more before continuing, smiling now, "Still, it was nice of you to shield me, so thanks." Feeling suddenly awkward, I flush slightly and look to the side, "Anyway, now that the pervert is gone, we could go ahead and finish that interview, right? Or well, start it, hahaha."

    Johnny Justice
    Location: Hideout
    Morning of the first day

Sitting on the table, Johnny glared at the TV, his eyes piercing through the static like a sword through armor. The TV was one Cyrus was disinterested in; after all, it had come with the hideout, and hadn't been taken off some poor bastard. With half an ear, Johnny listened to the conversation going back and forth between Soccer Kid and Cyrus, before growling in frustration.

"I swear, this thing is as crappy as a meatball sub down on twenty-third!" he vaulted forward, his fist already clenched and going forward as he jumped, slamming it into the television.

    One. Two. Three.

"And we've heard reports that the weather down by Zeus is..."

Johnny grinned. That's what he liked to see - everything reasonable would fold before the power of a manly punch, no matter what it was. It was just like one of those whatchamacallums, a whozits, metaphorical tendencies having to do with fishes. Yeah, that.

The boy turned, running a hand through brown hair and grinning widely. "So, you've got a gambling ring set up for us? Aquila, man, you're a real stand up guy! Setting us up like dominos and handing us the trick card during the game! I can already tell that you and me?" he tossed an arm over the boy's shoulder. "We're gonna get along like a couple'a gang members who've only got a pack of smokes and a lighter to go between them." He laughed, a boisterous loud sound and turned to Cyrus with a grin as he headed for the door.

"Well c'mon Cyrus! Ain't no point waitin' around like a couple'a clowns without a pie! We've gotta take this down to 'em, can't let any of those brown nosers have all the fun!"

Johnny liked Zeus just fine. It was different, definitely, but it was the kind of different that made you blink twice and rethink your life, and then lose all your money gambling because you realized that your life really didn't mean all that much in the grand scheme of things. Zeus was truly a school for talented folks, not just 'music' or 'art' or 'I'm good at math stuff', but actual real talent. Like his own.

Johnny glanced out the window of their hideout, seeing the people on the front lawn. A boy did a backflip as he stared at it, memorizing the movement idly, like it didn't mean much to him. And it didn't. That's what it meant to be 'Johnny Justice', one of - if not the - greatest fighters at Zeus Academy!

"Don't worry Cy," he drawled with a wink, "Me and my fists can do the talkin' if we run into any wise guys 'long the way. I'll teach'm that two plus two equals stars." Johnny mimed a few jabs in the air, his fists firing off like shots from a gun. "Baddabing, baddaboom, out like a light!"

He bounced on his feet like a boxer would, grinning widely as he did so, fists idly floating in front of his face. Cyrus' realm was gambling, Johnny had a better one.

Fighting. He could punch with the best of the crooks in Brooklyn, and he was good at it too, made it easy to identify them after he was through, and never fired a single shot in all the time he'd run his gang. After all, his fists were better then a gun.

His fists were justice. The sheer power in them was absolutely unnecessary, but that was what they were - a single punch would send a crook to the floor, and a follow up would send him into the ceiling. It was as simple as that. Any two-bit gang member knew his name - he'd run his own gang at the age of ten, after all. Nobody could top him in terms of criminalism; at least in his past.

He was on the straight and narrow now, side of justice. Well, whatever side was against those damn Mafioso who'd taken his gang from him. He may have been a crook, but he was an honest crook, not like one of those guys. Who wore suits all the time anyways? It was weird.

"Well Cy? We don't need ta know any sp'c'fic names. Any gambler worth his chips oughta be able to at least get you to go more then one round with 'im right? We'll figure out the worthwhile ones when we get there!"

Johnny’s punches had the effect he expected. The TV started working again after the third hit… for all of five seconds. After that, the static reappeared, the noise changing this time around. Instead of the extremely loud and nerve-wrecking loud blaring you were accustomed to, it was a very subtle and very annoying sound, something that seemed to get under you skin, and caused an uncomfortable feeling to crawl up your spine.

This made Joaquin finally turn the damn thing off, mumbling under his breath about getting a replacement already. Turning his attention to you, he started answering the questions asked.

“I am sure they are playing there tonight, but I got no idea of who’ll be participating in the game. I got the info from Chamellia, so I bet she’s gonna be there. Zhong’s gang of idiots is also sure to show up and get into the action too. Probably a bunch of the Computer Club who still think of themselves as a big deal… but nope, know no names there.”

El Aguila moved away his locks of blonde hair, carefree as ever. He, much like Johnny, did not care much for who was in the gambling, ad long as there was some gambling going on. He was in mostly for the thrill of it than to win anything, so asking him for more info would probably net no more answers.

The guy turned towards you, leaving his back towards Krystine and the cowering Ida, his eyes narrowed with clear anger as he stared you down. You were sure that anyone else would have just backed down upon being confronted with such aggressiveness, but you did not bat an eyelid, accustomed to this kind of attitude from Zhong’s minions.

This guy was at least one year younger, which made it odd that he had came up here to threaten a senior classmate. Still, he was imposing enough to make anyone think twice before getting in his way.

“What is it to you?” he grumbled, clearly annoyed by your intervention. You noticed that the class, already tense, had fallen in complete silence in preparation for the brawl that seemed about to start. Krystine pushed Ida a bit away, before standing in front of her, ready to protect her from any incoming harm. They tension in the classroom skyrocketed.

Your next words would define what would happen next.

Gennadiya accepted the books with a thankful nod, and didn’t react to your comment about wanting to see your brother. However, it was obvious by how her expression had softened that your gesture had greatly increased her opinion of you.

Relationship with Gennadiya has become 2

When you asked about her brother, she tilted her head slightly, and seemed to think a bit on what to answer.

“I envy you,” she finally said. “Sempai is cool. My big bro is still a big idiot.” There was some noticeable bitterness in her words this time around.

But more importantly, you imagined your brother’s face if he heard this. Would the whole of the second years end up calling your brother Sempai, if this continued?

“Ah, that is so nice… I wish my little sister was as well behaved as your Tomomi is.” Kaitlin sighed slightly as she finished her cup of tea, and watched with interest as you challenged the older and wildest twin to a match.

“Well, if you are going to go with it… I have an idea to make it more interesting.” Both you and Rumiko turned towards the club’s president. “Rather than the usual contest of strength, why don’t we make it so the one who hits the opponent three times wins?”

“That is alright by me!” Shouting excitedly, Rumiko did not even wait for a signal to start, or to hear your agreement. Grasping her usual practice bokken, she moved with her insane agility of always, approaching you in an instant, and launching a strike with the clear intention of lightly touching your side.

    Challenge!
Defeat Komiya Rumiko by touching her with your bokken three times before she does the same to you.
    Wise up!

    Name: Komiya Rumiko
    Race: Human
    Attributes: Human, Unbound
    Spiritual Rank: 1

    Stats:

    Agility: 21 + 4 = 25

    Perks:

    (Focus) Kinetic Kendo
A seemingly traditional style of kendo that has been slightly altered to focus on the user’s speed and movement. This style of swordsmanship abandons the concept of defense or parrying, instead allowing the user to move freely to evade, and attack with great speed.
[When attacking with a sword type weapon, a +3 bonus is added to the normal STR bonus of the weapon. The user’s AGI also goes up by +4. One technique can be created]

“Guh…” it seemed that your words, at least, had managed to make them shut up. Timmy, of course, probably hadn’t understood anything of what you said, but you had managed to appease Cecily a bit.

“Just… go faster, you big idiot!” She moved to you side and lightly kicked her partner’s rear, causing the strongman of the group to finally speed up. It did not take long for the group to dump out the unconscious bodies, outside the walls that separated the school’s terrains from the rest of the world, and go back in.

“Boss said she wanted us to come to the usual place today, I think she wants the whole gang there.” Cecily informed you, and started walking towards the hideout at an accelerated pace, still fuming. You and Tim exchanged glances, then shrugged and followed behind her.

Location: Zeus High School – The Usual Place
Time: Morning of the first day

Some minutes later, you had entered the ruinous side-building that was in the back of the school. Built five years ago to house some clubs that had never took off, the building had been abandoned, and with it being in the back of the school, it had not been maintained or cleaned during five years. It was the only building in the whole of Zeus that was in such a state, the only blemish in its otherwise beautiful exterior.

So it had been a very appropriate place for Zhong’s gang to make theirs. No less than fifty delinquent students were around, sitting on the trashy chairs and talking around, although you could see that there was a bunch of missing members around.

In the center of the room, to the side of a big desk with a cushion on it, sat Stacy Tirrel, doing what Cecily liked to describe as ‘giving a blowjob to the lollipop’, which was a tad unfair, but maybe a somewhat accurate description. This girl consumed lollipops like others would consume cigarettes, and would always be seen with one in her mouth.

“You are late” her refined voice rang out, instantly cutting off the on-going conversations between the gang members, and making them pay attention to the situation in front of them.

“Punishment~” One girl, the only one on the whole group whose hair was blonde instead of red, happily muttered some terrific words. “Tell me it is punishment time! I want to have some fun with Bitch again!”

“You goddamned fucker…!” Cecily grunted, her hands balling into fists as she seemed ready to just leap at the blonde girl and smash her into bits. However, the girl did not seem intimidated in the least, and smiled wickedly.

“What? Forgot what happened last time you tried this? Maybe I can repeat that in front of everyone as a punishment. Want that, Bitch?” The taunts had the somewhat unexpected effect of stopping Cecily, who gritted her teeth and looked away, as if remembering some past humiliation.

“That won’t be necessary, Gratia.” Stacy’s voice rang again. “We can hardly punish them for being late if even the boss herself is late, you know?”

And indeed, Zhong was not taking her usual space atop the desk, and was nowhere to be seen.

“So… anything to report? Dealt away with those gangsters as asked? Something unusual happened today?”

A member of Zhong's gang. The closest thing she has to a friend. Apparently comes from a rich family, and is pretty spoiled, doing whatever she wants whenever she wants. Despite her appearance, she speaks with unexpected refinement, and is knowledgeable about many things. This does not stop her from being as violent as any other member of the gang.

Member of Zhong's gang. A girl born in germany, she is somewhat of a mystery between the students of Zeus High. Her weird attitude makes her an outlier, someone who doesn't belong with the rest of her class, or even the school. It is no wonder that she has found her way into Zhong's little gang of misfits, but the oddities seem to follow her even there. She is the only one in the gang that hasn't dried her hair red, and even Zhong seems a bit freaked out by her. It seems that she does not mind being different from the rest, but even embraces it.

Ray shrugged again, probably trying to think of an answer, and coming up empty. “It is not your fault, don’t worry about it. He has been just… acting weird ever since he entered Zeus. I don’t think he will approach you again, so I think it is better to leave him alone.”

That was not much of an answer, but Ray seemed clearly troubled by the problems your friend was causing you.

    Meanwhile…

"Guess he's just the clueless type? It's his second offense in the past five minutes, so I would've chased him away, but you beat me to it."
“Yeah but that is not the only thing” Bryanna mumbled, clearly displeased. “His past is a complete blank, and no matter how much I look I cannot find anything about this guy. I’d interview him, but he’d just spend the whole thing hitting on me.”

"Still, it was nice of you to shield me, so thanks."
The instant you said that, Bryanna also flushed and looked away. “Don’t thank me, it wasn’t intentional. Comes from having two little sisters to take care of.” The topic seemed to make her uncomfortable, because she immediately switched gears towards the interview.

Muttering her trademark ‘let’s see” she moved some pages on her bloc, evidently searching for the questions. “Here it is, now… okay. What are your thoughts on the club after winning last month’s competition? What are your objectives to the future? And if you don’t mind some personal questions, there are some readers who are curious about you as the new vice-captain to the club, so could you give us some small summary on who you are? Ya know, things like your tastes, etc.”

You did not know someone could even talk so fast.

    Small Government
    On The Deck
    Morning

A slab of fish dropped to the ground, and the bird pounced, scrabbling over the pavement in a clawed dance to pin down the immobile flesh. Rip, tear, gulp, and the fish disappeared in strips, unchewed. Eagle worries melted away like thin strips of fat in a warm mouth, which he didn't really have, since all he had was a beak, but it was good anyways. Fed, he turned and stood, following her gaze.

Eagles are some of the most ancient and legendary subjects of falconers, and not especially clever, but clever enough to understand when people want something, so Small Government saw that Rhodes needed something, and where he needed it. And this was the kind of thing he did: being helpful, within his capacity.

He whistled from his position, calling attention to himself; as she looked down, he flopped upwards, unsteadily keeping himself airborne with great flaps as he began to gently strike outside pockets of her backpack with his beak. Soft, he moved on, but in a few pockets, he clicked a hard surface, and chirped, tapping it again.

Rhodes pulled her phone out of the pocket, and the bird whistled on a rising note, winging off for a few feet towards the staff room window before looping back and going back around, going farther each time like a feathered shuttlebus or tennis ball. Flop, flop, flap.

    Cyrus Ferdinand
    Hideout
    Morning of the first day

Cyrus locked his eyes onto the inanimate TV, giving it a stare that could burn a hole into the old screen. The TV was his least favorite part of the hideout, a piece of junk that had no story or weight to it, simply there. However, this grim reminder of the inadequacy of the duo's garbage box of a television came at a perfect timing. If there was ever a good opportunity to replace it the right way, it was now. With the Computer Club having a possibility of showing up there was a chance Cyrus could provoke them into betting some nice electronics, and from there it was easy pickings. Of course, whether the Computer Club owned any half decent TVs was uncertain, but a decent enough PC would suffice.

"Well," Cyrus began, leaning back into his chair as he spoke. "Someone with a reputation usually has self perceived reasons to defend that reputation. Those kinds of people usually bet more than they should when they think about their reputation." Cyrus adjusted his cap as he spoke, raising the bill slightly to prevent it from obscuring his vision too hard. Having leaned back as far as the chair would go, Cyrus rocked the chair forward, planting his feet onto the floor and standing up.

"But it doesn't matter. We're going either way." Cyrus said, finally looking away from the TV. "Question is, what do we do until then?" Cyrus asked, looking up toward Johnny. "Classes are out so we can do whatever we want on campus today. We've played hooky plenty of times, but we haven't really wandered the school when we're actually allowed to."

"Whaddya say we go for a little walk and see what the Computer Club is up to?" Cyrus looked from Johnny to Joaquin as he spoke, then turned back to the table. Cyrus picked up a pair of unopened playing cards, pocketing each deck, then swiped a dollar coin from the edge of the table, tossing it into the air with a flick of his thumb. "Who knows, maybe we'll bump into something interesting while we're out." Catching the coin on its return fall, Cyrus tossed the coin over to Johnny without missing a beat, not even bothering to check what side it landed on.

"Yeah. I'm feeling pretty lucky like that today. Heads, by the way."

The guy turns around to face me, his face full of aggression. It doesn't bother me much, though - this is something I face on a regular basis. Jeez, this gang is annoying. My old school had problems with bullies, but this is just... it pisses me off. I won't let threatening my classmates, my friends, go, but I'll give this guy a single chance to back off.

He's pretty young, now that I think about it; at the very least he's about a year younger than everyone else in the room. With lean muscles, a fierce stare, and the signature red hair, this guy is definitely a part of Zhong's gang.

It's a little odd that he would come up here to threaten a senior girl, of all things. He might have a history with Krystine, or something; I'll ask her about it later. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Krystine getting in front of Ida, ready to protect both if (well, when) the fight breaks out. I respond to the guy's question, my voice less cheerful than it was before, and becoming more serious.

"What's it to me? Well, these two are my classmates. More than that, they're my friends. I won't stand for anybody threatening my friends."

    Woah, calm down reporter girl.

She was asking questions at an alarmingly fast pace.

While a small part of me had wanted to tease the blonde reporter about blushing, I had to admit that it was probably for the best that she had gone ahead and put the topic back on it's original path. Of course, I hadn't expected the sudden torrent of questions that came flooding out from young woman in what seemed to be one breath, and consequently, that small feeling of nervousness once again emerged in the back of my thoughts.

"My thoughts on the club, huh," deciding to just answer the questions in the order she had given them to me, I smiled, "Well, I'm definitely proud of everyone. We trained hard, harder than we had ever trained before, and because of that, I believed that there was absolutely no way we could lose. The road to being the absolute best starts here, and I'm confident that we'll reach it very soon."

    Did that sound overconfident?

I hope that didn't sound overconfident...

Ugh, don't worry about it Rika, just keep going...

    What was the next one...?

"As for my own future objectives, well," pausing, I raise a hand, one finger lingering on my chin, "Well, I hope to do a good job as Vice-Captain of the team this year. Lara does an amazing job at inspiring and directing everyone, and I think I'd be happy if I manage to be even half the leader she is," glancing at the captain, I flush as I realize I'm smiling fondly, and hurriedly go back to the interview, "Anyway I'll do my best guys, so hang with me! As for the team's future, I believe there is another Gymnastics competition coming up next month. Not as big as the last one, but that's no reason to lose speed now. Once we win there, I guess we'll see what comes up in the future."

Now for the more tricky ones...

"As for a summary of who I am..." Eyes lowered in thought, I cross my arms, "Well, before I joined the Acrobatics Team I was a big fan of parkour. My family moved around a lot, and I liked to explore, so I guess you could say I got into the sport on accident? I was a bit infamous for climbing around on buildings a year ago, it was apparently one of the main reasons why Zeus found out about me," coughing once, I hurriedly abandoned that train of thought, "I don't have any siblings, but I consider my younger cousin to be my little sis. I enjoy watching Kendo matches, dislike spicy food, listen to pretty much every genre of music, think video games stopped being good after the N64 era, and find myself cloud-watching far more than I probably should..."

Feeling a bit weird again, I stop, once again looking to the side.

"That's a small summary of me I suppose, although the video game club is gonna give me hell now," laughing lightly, I close my eyes, shake off the embarrassment of rambling through sheer force of will, and then meet Bryanna's eyes with my own, "Was there anything else you wanted to know?"

A lightning swing brings time to a halt.

Kinetic Kendo is a variation of the traditional style which focuses on speed and movement over anything else. It's Komiya Romiko's preferred combat form and the reason why she studies here. I've faced it a couple of times before but this is the first time we fight under these conditions. It goes without saying that I am looking forward to seeing the outcome of this challenge, however, it also goes without saying that I won't be holding back at all. When it comes to sparring matches I am merciless no matter who's my opponent. Ask Tomomi if you don't know what I'm saying.

The biggest advantage I hold over my high-spirited Kouhai is my strong physical build. We both use styles that rely on speed, but I am tougher and, believe it or not, that often makes the difference in the long run. Even if the rules of the game have changed, that basic concept still applies. Rumiko will go all out from the start like she often does, seeking to end this as soon as possible using her superior speed. Meanwhile, I'll focus on taking the least possible damage from her initial attacks and deliver the finishing blow once she starts running out of fuel.

I might not have enough time to get out of the way, but thanks to the starting distance, parrying is still possible. Following the basic principles of kendo footwork, I gently slide my right foot forward through the wooden floor and quickly follow with my left foot, all in a swift motion. At the same time, my arms carry my bokken to the side in order to block the incoming attack. A moment later, the two wooden blades clash with a marvelous sound.

    "Not bad."

With technique and a little bit of luck, I've managed to keep Rumiko's weapon away from my body. She cleverly aimed at my side because she's shorter than me and she knew that it would be harder for me to block an attack like that. While I've managed to parry this time, there is no guarantee that the same will happen the next. Doing so is certainly uncomfortable, especially when faced against a speedy opponent, and if Komiya keeps aiming low I am going to be in trouble.

That's why I intend to put some pressure on her from now on.

---My sword will be my shield; my offense will be my defense.

The style I am about to use is like a 'top'. It cannot spin on its own; it needs something else to start its own movement. But once it starts spinning it won't stop until all of its velocity and momentum are lost. In other words, this is a supplementary style which relies on my original kendo style. Using it from the get-go is nothing but reckless. However, thanks to Rumiko's last attack, I am in a favorable position to switch into it: My bokken now acts as a 'wall' between me and my opponent's weapon and, since I've taken a step forward towards her, it's now hard for her to disengage. By 'following' her sword with mine, I'll ensure a clean hit.

But that's simply the beginning. My 'free-flow' combat will allow me to adapt my offense in accord to whatever comes next, so it's not like I am not ready if she has a trick under her sleeve that I haven't seen yet. Granted, if I score a point I'll simply disengage. It would be outright cruel of me to keep hitting my Kouhai over and over.

Well, here we go, don't disappoint me-!

    "Hah-!"

    Wise Up!
    Strength: 18 => 19
    Defense: 19
    Agility: 19

    Sword Dancer
The brutal sword style favored by Taichi, one that isn’t unique but at the same time isn’t common. It follows the principle of ‘free-flow’ and combines it ‘offense is the best defense’. The result is a style which attacks the enemy relentlessly with speed and power, abandoning all defensive moves, thus leaving opponent's with no opening to attack. The 'free flow' aspect allows the user to connect one attack to the next, creating a chain which allows Taichi to move and keep pushing forward as he performs different kind of attacks. Despite its ferocious nature, it retains the grace which has given the style its name.
[When attacking with a sword type weapon, a +1 bonus is added to the normal STR bonus of the weapon. If Taichi’s AGI is higher than the enemy’s EVA, a dice is rolled to determine if another strike in the same turn is possible. The difficulty of that roll is reduced by the difference between Taichi’s AGI and the enemy’s EVA. A maximum of two of these die can be rolled per turn]
