The plan to beat Excalibur by using Aius to boost Bellerophon was him too I think.
I was slightly wrong on location, its just after saber climbs the step and begins the fight
…Actually, there is a way.
There is only one, but there is a way to defeat that golden knight.
But for that…
It will not succeed unless several conditions are met.
Even if she defeats Ea, he will be able to defend against her attack if he has energy left. And the method to defeat Ea will remain unknown until she takes a direct hit from it once more.
Take a hit from Ea…? No way. Even with the sheath, I would not be able to get up after being hit.
But there is no other way to win.
It is a matter of how to grasp that slight chance.
Usually, she selects the best choice by instinct and follows that view.
But right now, she cannot even feel it with her instincts.
Probably because the probability of victory is so low and the chance of a comeback is pretty much zero.
basically, Saber needed to take a hit from EA without revealing Avalon could block it so she could see the correct distance/moment to counter attack with avalon and kill gilgamesh.
later, that actually happens when she (barely) manages to do just that. after that happened, she suckers gilgamesh into using EA again and was able to win the fight.
follow up to what I said a moment ago, it was specifically the distance to gil she had to learn before she could beat him with her own batman gambit
"!"

About eight meters to Gilgamesh.
She places herself at the best range she found earlier.
I actually thought thats what it was before, but for a while I couldnt find the line
Gilgamesh is so kingly that when his beloved Shinji runs towards him complaining about how he lost an arm, he goes the extra mile to bestow him with plenty of arms to spare.
it's been a while since i read the vn, but i thought shirou didnt beat gil because he was better at swordfighting, he beat him because in the reality marble he was simply faster at pulling out his swords than gil was
i mean technically shirou didn't beat him anyway. the grail thingy got to gil before that. although i'm pretty sure shirou thought he was about to beat him (unreliable narrator might come into play here though)
...Deal with it

Win the day, punch your crush. All in a day's work.

若布のバクダンですよー!
Spoiler:
He still beat him though! He fired a sword between his eyes!
Spoiler:
Shirou traces the invincible Oreo blade, the only sword with sweet cream filling!
It has a cool name at least, not a really suitable name for cookies brand though.

How will you guys think the fight with gil and the mana tranfer thing with Rin will turn out?
Spoiler:
Well the mana transfer thing will probably just be the RN version but they could modify Shirou vs Gilgamesh a bit, who knows.
