Finished Erased. I do agree with some reviews that the second half falls short.

Kinda wish it was more than 12 episodes, that way it could have included more from the manga. And, by that, I mean more Airi (best girl). Her and Satoru's (the MC) relationship was the best thing about the story (other than Satoru and his mom), only to get side-lined to rush finish said story inside 12 episodes. Also suffering from this was Satoru and the killer being each other's foil. Chunks of it were skipped, and the parts we got were dumbed down.

But, overall, I enjoyed it. The OP and EDs were great. Both the Japanese and English casts were good, etc. Dat Asian Kung-Fu Generation doe:

@Ymir: yeah, pretty much. I'm buying the manga volumes, though they're at a hefty 30 dollars a piece. I just wait for Prime to reduce the price.

Im done with Classicaloid and it ended pretty well. Glad there's a second season but wondering if they will start off with a new crew.

Just finished Tokyo Ghoul. Put off reading it because I thought it was something that my pre-teen self would read. It was a surprisingly well written story with characters I could really get behind. It's still something my younger self would read, but it was really good. Time to read Tokyo Ghoul:re

Indeed, I was so disappointed with how they handled the anime adaptation. I just don't understand people who say the anime was better than the manga.

I don't think they will. There's still plenty of room for the characters to develop and more importantly, the fact that they held back on several of the composers' other famous songs has me convinced that they were saving them for a possible second season.

Been reading Smokin' Parade, a shonen/horror manga by the author of Deadman Wonderland.

Basically, the plot is that super prosthetic limbs invented by the shady bioengineering firm Ame No Tori occasionally go haywire and turn their owners into berserking fleshy abominations with cutesy stuffed animal heads (and I promise this part is way more disturbing then it sounds). An equally shady group called the Jackalopes consisting of people with steampunk animatronic limbs (as opposed to Ame No Tori's more organic creations) that transform into weapons make it their job to fight off these monsters (called "Spiders" because of how they often walk on all fours). After the protagonist Youkou Kakujou finds his older sister turning into one such abomination (and losing both arms and one leg in the process- on his 15th birthday no less) he ends up being saved and summarily recruited by the Jackalopes in their war against the Ame No Tori corporation.

As you can imagine, it's a fairly dark and "edgy" work with a fair amount of gore (while most of it is not too detailed or offensive IMO, the opening scene with the protag's sister turning monstrous is pretty messed up). However, the slick art, stylish characters (if you don't mind that basically everybody gets depicted with a slasher smile half the time) and rather entertainingly morbid sense of humor in parts were enough to draw me in.

If you like steam/biopunk stuff with a horror tint and black comedy, I'd recommend checking this out if you have the time. (Just finished chapter 2 today, BTW)

It's been a while but isn't this the setup of DDD just switching a company with random occurrences?

The setup is kind of similar now that you mention it. Especially the MC's backstory is almost exactly like what happened to Arika in that series (though Youkou was unlucky enough to lose four of his limbs to Arika's one). Still though, the broader setting and themes are distinct enough (Smokin' Parade seems to be trying to tell a classic tale of scientific hubris run amok) that, combined with DDD's own relative obscurity, I would just write it off as a coincidence.

Holy crap, rocket-punching a monster to death while on a freaking wheelchair. I did not expect Youkou to get this badass this quickly.

And so, another arc of Magic Kaito has ended. It's been three years since the last arc and honestly, I'm kinda disappointed after all the waiting.

Hopefully the next arc will be better...only three years until we find out!

Koe no Katachi movie is like ten times harder to watch than it is to read.

    This is praise, right?

It pains me to say so.

Hell, I'm kinda reluctant to watch it because of the physical beating it'll do to me.

I'm very much amazed at how they manged to distill a 60 chapter series into one movie. While it was a little rushed, it was nowhere near a train wreck and still managed to hit a lot of the emotional beats.

And yes, it is praise, although I would still read the manga just because of how deep it goes into the difficulties the characters have.

Shingeki no Bahamut was a good watch, I really enjoyed the interactions between the main characters, it felt unique. Favaro isn't what you usually get for a protagonist, and I liked that. The plot wasn't amazingly unique or anything of course but it was good for what it was, and a workable vessel for a great cast. 8/10 would roll gacha and be very disappointed when I don't get Amira

also Jeanne in the last few episodes :eyes:

Started reading Kakegurui since apparently it's good and the anime is a month away. It's basically No Game No Life: High School Edition, featuring ten times the sociopaths, and starring one of those villains who seems like a nice onee-san but is actually a massive sadist, as the MC.

It is. I thought nobody would ever mention it around here, but I was wrong.

Didn't know it was getting an anime.

Kakegurui and its faces are a thing of beauty. Its one misstep was backing away from yuri secretary getting ntr'd and annihilated but I forgive it for being based despite that.
