Right now, Vento Aureo anime, JoJolion manga, and I finished SBR last week. Don't have time for much more.

I encourage it. Phantom Blood ain't long, neither is Battle Tendency. It's only really around Stardust Crusaders that it gets longer as evidenced by the length of the anime in comparison to PB and BT combined. Even then, JoJo parts are rather quick reads.

Is there any reason to read JoJo?

Legit question, isn't the anime just better in every way, assuming you're willing to give up consistent higher drawing quality for music, color, movement, voice acting and everything else that makes me like JoJo? Specially considering David constantly adds stuff and patches up mistakes to ensure a better experience?

What does Araki's unfiltered JoJo have that is better than adapted JoJo?

    Depends on which Part tbh.

Parts 2 & 3 had perfect adaptations that I wouldn't bother recommending going back to the manga. Part 1 was rushed and skipped a bunch of little scenes that added to things like characterisation but was mostly still intact, I'd only recommend going back to it if it's your favourite Part. Now, Part 4 really got shafted in it's second half - it's longer chapterwise than Stardust Crusaders but got way less episodes so it really got crammed in after Kosaku Kawajiri entered the plot. I'd definitely recommend going back and reading the second half.

Part 5 - well, there's no way they could make that any worse than it already is.

Basically all this. Though, if there's any part that would't require much tune-up design or plot-wise by DP, it'd be SBR. Admittedly, about DiU, I like how they changed the order of the Cinderella mini-arc in relation to the rest of the plot for the anime.

Actually, Part II got rid of one fight against a Nazi spy in Venice that showed Joseph's progress in Hamon, and the Part I anime also omitted how Dio came to learn of Hamon.

reading Route End by Nakagawa Kaiji

it's pretty good, and though it isn't a romance the chemistry between the two leads is believable and adult minded

Reading is faster. Also AFAIK 1 - 6 Jojo is fully colored mangawise and I assume 7 is as well.

SBR is fully colored, yes. Also, SBR's colors are better. Lots of pink, purple, and magenta.

P.S. Reading helps you appreciate DP's changes even more.

If you are pressed for time and must read only one Jojo saga, make it Steel Ball Run.

It brings all the best elements of the franchise to the table while leaving most of the shortcomings behind.

Steel Ball Run is great, but I don't think it's the absolute best. I felt Parts 2,6, and 7 were on the same level for me. All were pretty good, but not my favorite. I will admit the narrative was more concise though.

The art is still awesome. I'm talking about the story/character cliches and the sheer melodrama.

Those were things I didn't notice when I first watched the series >15 years ago. I recently attempted to rewatch it and it was all too much.

In a way, it is me that has changed. And so, for me, it has aged poorly. It shares many of the flaws of, say, Fushigi Yuugi.

However, some other series from the same time period have aged great - Utena is probably the best example.

A little newish, but I just watched Happy Sugar Life.

    That's a fun trainwreck alright.

Kana Hanazawa's performance is the one that makes the show.

The ending is predictable as per anime with an immoral protagonist, unless they go full villain like Death Note, they die but they won is almost guaranteed to be the ending. But that doesn't take away the overall experience.

Also, they basically fucked by elevator puzzle game.

I started reading the Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu manga on a whim expecting it to be just the standard isekai fare, but i’ve really gotten caught up with the relationships between the characters. I like how the fights are really at the backseat while all the character drama are the main drive. Ended up reading all the currently translated parts and really left wanting more.

    Also eris is a cutie.

The word usually means that it either looks bad or has content that feels weird to a modern viewer.
I mean it was always kind of written as a 'chick flick' with all the relationship drama that usually entails. What I find great about that show is that those cliches neither make the story nor the main characters- it's not a soap, it's still a legit fantasy story. The only character that stuck out for me as too much was Dilandau.
