What I mean is that Slutakaze was expressly designed to be popular, but it's wearing off. The others gained their popularity through more honest means. Kaga especially.

^^It's difficult to say. Slutakaze was pushed as the series mascot, given the most exposure and merch, and she's the best Destroyer stats-wise, but she's actually not as popular as would be expected. In the latest popularity poll I saw, she ranked below Akagi, Kongou and Kaga IIRC. I'll actually be glad if she doesn't make it in, since her voice is even more irritating than Goya's or Iku's.
Tenryuu though, I do want to see. Kiso too. Eyepatches are wonderful.

Well, personnaly i like Shimakaze, and i think/hope if they put so much budget into her as a mascot, they'll at least try and possibly succeed in improving her character/giving her memorable moments in the anime to surge her popularity again.

Update yesterday.
Kirishima got her kai2. She is now incredibly tall. Still nowhere near Myouko-class height though.
New ship added: Kagerou-class destroyer Hamakaze. She's described as Shimakaze's friend, probably some of her lines reflect this. her stats are pretty average, but she has decent stock equipment.
Z1 and Z3 get new "Zwei" forms, which are apparently kai2-lite, with minimal art changes.
Resource caps added, causing much asspain to the people who've been doing nothing but stockpiling.
Slight UI fix.
Some new furniture.


Midway event is supposedly coming sometime in April.
Meanwhile I only just realized that Akagi is my only CV. That's probably something I need to fix, pronto.

design-wise, she reminds me of that one girl from Date a Live.

The Spring event has begun. Rather than Midway, its focus is the Battle of Java. It's an event focusing on the new Recon mechanics introduced.
Four new ships introduced, obtainable from event maps. Destroyers Amatsukaze and Tanikaze, Light Cruiser Sakawa, and Repair Ship Akashi, AKA that girl from the item shop. Some LSC-only ships are also obtainable from event maps.
Tone and Chikuma have new Kai Nis, and Bismark a Zwei. New "Construction Plans" are needed to upgrade them. They can be exchanged for 4 medals per plan.
The UI is prettier and (apparently) everything loads faster.
