    Kantai Collection - Kancolle


    Kantai Collection, also known as Kancolle, is an online browser game in which one assumes the role of an admiral, assembles a fleet of ship girls, girls based on World War II era Japanese (and as of a few days ago, also german) ships and submarines, and battles against fleets of alien enemy warships.

    There are four official manga spin-offs (Though the only one people actually care about is the 4-koma), and an anime adaption in the works, as well as mountains of fanworks.

    Kancolle is as addictive as it is not-really-fun-at-all-but-it-has-cute-girls-so-who-cares. I've been playing on-and-off since October, currently trying to craft hachi.

    Anyone else here who plays this?

    Im gonna be honest here, all i really know about KanColle is that Shimakaze is hot.

    Ive never really been much of a fan of browser-games otherwise.

    That and the anime is apparently going to have the plainest girl there be the main character because Japanese consumers of fiction are all hopeless losers who don't like what they can't self-insert into.

    Seems like a nice game. Not my cup of tea but it did spawn a lot of pretty nice fanart as well as random fun stories and such...been enjoying "Shiba Dog Admiral and the Fleet Girls' Everyday Lives".

    Full cosplays with guns, cannons and all was also rather amusing from what I've seen.

    Been a bit of an update on the anime front.

    Three characters are now confirmed to appear; Fubuki, Akagi and Kaga. All three have the same voice actresses as in the game. Fubuki being the main character seems to be confirmed.
    Character designs are a bit "meh" looking. I can't help feel that there's something off about the faces. Maybe it's just me.

    On an unrelated note, Kongou gets to be the third Kancolle nendroid.

    Aaand the tjree i dont really care about. Whelp, given their popularity, Shimakaze and Tenryu are very likely to make it in, so theres that.

    Artstyle reminds me of Strike Witches, which is no surrise since KanColle seems to be heavily innspired by it.

    ^^It's difficult to say. Slutakaze was pushed as the series mascot, given the most exposure and merch, and she's the best Destroyer stats-wise, but she's actually not as popular as would be expected. In the latest popularity poll I saw, she ranked below Akagi, Kongou and Kaga IIRC. I'll actually be glad if she doesn't make it in, since her voice is even more irritating than Goya's or Iku's.
    Tenryuu though, I do want to see. Kiso too. Eyepatches are wonderful.
