Also looking over the second H alt in Fate route in that one line where he gets cut off, there's a commented out note saying "the full sentence is 'you can go back to being Artoria', he doesn't say it but just in case". Thank you Nasu or whoever.
Anyway here's my current attempt at a patch for Fate route (needs patch_english2 and patch_english3 from Jack's patch to work), I didn't look over it much and will probably still edit stuff. Fuck the LE timing. The music ended too early on my first try so I shortened the text, so now the music actually ends exactly when the final text ("our travels continue on") ends, which is still fine but not actually where it's supposed to. well whatever.
Well if it's ending late rather than early, I can slow down the auto read to compensate. My main concern was the auto read being too fast that people wouldn't be able to read it. Also could you PM me the longer versions of the TL so I can look over those too?

There isn't really a longer version, I kind of just went back and reworded things to make them shorter. Slower auto read would probably be good though.
I know, part of me is thinking that maybe I can pick and choose with some of the wording, so I wouldn't mind having both versions to look over (unless you don't have the old version that is, in which case I won't bug you to recreate it because that'd be a pain in the ass).
Side note: I'm going through the comparisons and I noticed that some of the food porn is being trimmed down, I wonder how painful that was for Nasu to do.

Ok so I have to say, looking at some of this censorship, it is CRIMINALLY bad. Koto, Mcjon, why are you both so wanting of a vanilla RN? Ok Koto I get because of the new version of the Shinji Sakura relationship, but seriously, have you guys read this shit? This is literally FSN 4Kids edition.

I know the violent stuff got pretty toned down for ratings purposes but I felt like leaving violence alone while removing sex would be kind of hypocritical so I went along with it. In general CERO (japanese media in general I guess) just doesn't like dismemberment. I started ignoring that kind of thing more when I got to HF cause I realized how awkward "red liquid" sounds when you keep repeating it. I'm going to rewrite some stuff in Fate probably.
Regardless I think the majority of edits are the style/making-shirou-sound-less-like-an-idiot stuff and not censorship.
Incidentally my insistence on a straight patch is not because of shinji or whatever, it's because I just feel like if you're going to translate something you should actually translate what's there instead of pasting another game on top of it. I can release it separately if you're that insulted by it though.

On that note I have no quarrel with you translating, that was your job, so you did what you were supposed to do and I am not upset about that. Since we are putting out a "vanilla" version, I do expect a vanalla TL. I'm more disappointed with Nasu for his really terrible censorship. So to summarize, my issue is with Nasu who wrote it, not you who translated it. It especially annoys me that this is the superior version of the VN with the voices, new effects and whatnot, and it's given such a downgrade like that.
So far I've seen way more censoring and way less making Shirou less like an idiot, granted I am happy for a lot of the Fate/Stay in the Kitchen crap that's been cut out.
I'd also like to point out that FSN and RN are not different enough in my book to be called different games, more like different versions of the same game, comparative to what Lucas does with Star Wars re-releases (inb4 random Han shot first or Darth Vader "no" joke), where they are still considered the same movie even if some stuff's been altered. So I approve of pasting an already existing translation on it, that way we can save a lot of the time we had to take doing it from the ground up. I mean come on, admit it, you must be happy that we did it this way considering it must have saved you lots of time. Didn't MM take at least a year for each route? Yet you managed to do Fate in one grueling day instead of a grueling year since we put the old TL in there for you.
Lastly, and most importantly, I am not THAT insulted by it and I appreciate your work and help. But I want you to understand my attitude a bit: I did some posting of differences on Skype, seeing if I could get a laugh or two, but upon seeing the censorship done, they were being discouraged to check out RN and wanting to stick with the original FSN TL'ed by MM. From a business metahpor, these changes were driving away customers. I had to remind them that my patch wouldn't have this censorship to keep them from backing off, citing how the censorship will only be in this "vanilla" patch.

If it's really such a big deal for people I'll censor out the censorship (??????) since again I started letting more things slide as I went on and should probably revert some of the earlier stuff to keep it consistent with that level (I mean we're not actually subject to a ratings board ourselves). But I still think there are cases where it's good to have a version that doesn't have embarrassing "add back the porn" options (I guess to me that seems more childish than censorship).
