Yeah, I think the lines were commented out for a reason, so there's no real need to add them back.

(I still kinda like the "different wind" line)

Same here, it's the only one I'm tempted to restore, but I'm going to test how this affects the pacing of the auto read first (because it's literally PERFECT as it is right now so I don't want to ruin it).


In any case, on to the next issue. According to you, the TL and the voice work don't match for this line 「けど、よかった。あとは[line3]あんまり、待たせていなかったのならいいんだけど」
so what should I put in place of it?

Since nobody helped me, I had to use my limited knowledge of Japanese to produce what I think it's saying, but I'm probably wrong "That's why, Saber, no, Arturia[line3]" is this missing anything or is it good as it is?

Isn't that the case for most of the commented out lines in the game, though?

Of course, but I'd still like to know what they say in the event that one happens to be something worth restoring. A lot of times, the commented out lines include dialogue from characters and voice work, and that's worth restoring. Things like "So and so spoke in this tone of voice" are needless and can go though.

It seemed unthinkable that I was ever worried about falling asleep with Saber.




Basically most of it is "she looked like such-and-such" in parts which I assume had CGs to show you how she looked anyway.

It's the eternal problem of "lines that cut off at the end are hard to translate into a language where the verb isn't at the end", we don't know what he was going to say after "アルトリアに". I guess it could maybe be something like "you should be Artoria", but your version is fine.

Thanks, I restored most of those. I left out the first one for H-alt 2 because Saber didn't have her hair down yet so it's inconsistent. Sure the CG's give us visuals, but Shirou uses similes and metaphors to describe what he sees and it's a matter of us as the audience reading what Shirou himself thinks of what he sees.

As for that last bit, I'll go with what I already have because I worked it in to the H-version in a unique way (for the sake of incorporating the voice file of that line).


Anyway, thanks, I really appreciate all of your hard work on this. Once I have that UBW scene, I'll release another update with all of these changes, including that Shinji easter egg.

In any case I'm finished with it. I'm going to test it out for any bugs or mistakes and then I'll test out the one line in LE about the wind and then we'll be good to go for the next release.

Ok here's the verdict: restoring that line did disrupt the pacing, but only by a very small amount. So small that I was able to correct it by reducing the time on one of the @wait canskip scripts by half. Actually, looking at it this way, the LE's music is even better synched to the visuals than it was before.

Changes

I'm probably forgetting one or two, but hopefully not:
-restored a few lines into H-alt scenes in Fate
-Fixed a couple of mistakes in the text in Fate (i.e. one line repeated itself).
-new scene in UBW is now in English thanks to Kotonoha
-commented out a line marked for deletion by Waku Waku in the very same date scene
-Hidden button in HF now gives you access to the Shinji Route (well the closest thing there is to one)
-Updated that little addition I made to Sparks Liner High with the normal Saber sprite appearing transparently over the Saber Alter sprite, it looks much better now.
-Streamlined the HF staffroll. To clarify, Type Moon already started doing this with RN. They changed the music to Turning Seasons, added Cherry Blossom petals falling (to match the swords in Fate and UBW's staffrolls), and added and oval picture of Sakura smiling at the end. The idea being that HF True is no longer the final end to FSN, LE is so LE has the final staffroll with ED. What I did was change the background to black (the flower petals are easier to see that way) and I added a slideshow of CG's from HF just like Fate and UBW have for their staffrolls. Keep in mind I only used CG's that were in the original FSN to keep it consistent with the other two
-commented out the "I breathe in deeply" line in LE so I could restore another line without disrupting the pacing.
-Changed the way the final lines in LE ("Even if the author is slienced....") are displayed. They're now displayed as an image poem just like the endings to the three routes. This isn't perfect and needs some improvement

Now then I think we all need to give a big cyber applause to Kotonoha for all of her hard work translating for this release. Thanks, the help is greatly appreciated.


Also one more note, I've noticed I've done some changes to RN, but nobody's complained. In the event some people are disappointed by some changes and just not saying anything, here's what I have planned. When all H-alts are translated and every single line that is different in RN is also translated, then I'll release a version that is just RN in English, with no changes or additions or anything.

I have to say that while I was initially wary of the idea of changing things instead of just straight "RN in English", I think the changes you're doing are actually pretty neat and not just changing things for change's sake (and it's also cool that you're planning to release a straight translation on top of that for people who don't share that view, you're putting a lot of consideration into this).

Well this project never really was just straight RN in English, and on top of that, I only intended my releases to be something to hold people over until Wakiu Waku finished, so I wasn't too concerned with those changes, but when he basically told me to take over, I was like "shit, now that responsibility is on me, these changes are a problem".

I've been thinking, shouldn't this thread be moved over to the "Translation" sub-forum now that is has become a thread about the progress on the RN translation patch? Nothing important of course, but it might be nice to have it in the same place as the Hollow Ataraxia translation thread, imo.

Rather than moving it, why not just make a thread for the project over there? It would definitely make the whole thing more organized.

Well, if you did that, then there is a chance that many people would check this thread instead of the new one for news about the patch, and you'd end up having two separate thread about the topic. That wouldn't exactly make things easier. You could close/remove this thread and then open a new one in the Translation sub-forum I guess, but that wouldn't be a good idea either, since it would be helpful to keep all the old posts from this thread available as well.
