Long term I suppose I would have to introduce some character development to account for the fact that she is a side kick to someone who is gonna get put on a bus.

Alright, how to explain this. Well, to start off, it should be stated that Clearing does not work on hard numbers. Values given are more so to generalize a range or give an approximation. So ranks and values aren't absolute. Rule of shonen and all that. Anyway, moving on.

An important thing to note is that the value (the amount of points) put into any stat at character creation isn't exactly representative of the values in game. To give an example, a 10 point distribution would give you an F rank, 20 would be D, and 40 would be C. However, when translated to an in-universe value, it'd be something like 100, 150, and 300 respectively. Fairly straightforward so far, right? Well, these are just the returns you get from minimal investment at character creation. When you start going up in ranks is where it starts getting a bit silly.

Using the prior example of rank D (at 40 investment) with an in-game return of 300, lets look at some of the higher ranks. With D being considered "peak human", the next rank (C rank) is where you start falling into super-human territory. This would have a much higher in-game return at around 500 or so. Not quite twice as strong as the previous rank, but not far off. But to go even further, rank B would have an even higher return at around 1100~1200 or so. More than double the previous rank. This trend continues with the top ranks with each easily toppling the previous in terms of raw values. This is not only to reward those who invested so much with so little, but also to promote cooperation and mitigate "brute forcing". That being said, that does not mean that someone with C rank can't compete with someone with A or S rank. It just means it'll be a noticeably uphill battle and the head-on approach probably isn't wise.

Now, what does all this mean when it comes to increasing the rank of your stats? Well, put simply it means that it's easy at low ranks, but exceedingly difficult at higher ranks. For example, doubling your power at D rank would comfortably push you into C rank; however, doing the same thing at C rank would not be enough to push you into B rank on its own. That being said, as some of you have already seen, I have allowed skills that are capable of raw rank boosts. That being said, they are specialized abilities that offer little more benefits than a raw increase in rank. Anything else is highly subject to rule of drama.
