Yup Nasu did clarify that Archer killed him once but it could have been shown more clearly as most of the new viewers like my friends were going "why is Illya retreating and taking an interest in Archer??"

Their worth (life) ends when humans can no longer bear that purity.
Even then, you could assume from that scene that he did take one of Berserker's lives.

Ehh.. must have forgot after all these years. I should re-read the VN some day.
Disregard what I said about Archer but the hyping of Saber is still valid and understandable why they did it. Ultimately they have to appeal to the mass viewers and suit the director's vision as it's ufotable production even though Nasu and us might not like it.

It was Takeuchi. No it was Nasu. No it was ufotable. Make up your mind.

All of the above.
That's the correct answer.
burn your dread you coward
Wut, i tot at least that broken explosion took his life somehow even he parried it. Dang being Archer is suffering indeed.
screw that, just make Archer origin route instead. Anime exclusive!
Those people who want bit and pieces of True End can go watch deen instead.
Kentucky Fried Kirei, nah i'm joking. Nothin here
Even ▆▆ end up on that place again
The special hell on hill full of swords ---------------------------------------------------------The hill of bloody battlefield
Yep, an easy way to describe it. However it can also be said attraction were there but not pursued. Also more angst and lamentation?

Nasu propose and submits changes for ufotable as he is the advisor and original writer
Ufo implements but not 100% because of directors vision/difficult to translate script into screenplay+animation
Takeuchi wants to glorify Saber, thus submitting requests as well
Ufo implements and tones it up to make their anime more attractive. Ufo also changes scenes based on their interpretation of Nasu's original FSN and new script change submitted
Final result - Mixture of all of the above which leads to Nasu blog post and fan reaction
So yeah, all of the above.

I was completely fine with that scene. If anything it showed how God Hand could regenerate Berserker's body even after splitting his torso. And Saber already fought Lancer and pushed him into using his Noble Phantasm by then so there's your hype geez.

Spoiler:
I personally think that Nasu's drafts were perfectly suitable for a direct adaptation, he even went as far as to do a complete screenplay and camera work for those scenes. The director's interpretation and his own "artistic touch" was the problem IMO. The very final scene coupled with that needlessly long setting sun eating away at precious runtime that could've been used to better show the intended meaning of it comes to mind immediately.
Also, making it OT again, I thought ufo delayed HF's PV for Machi Asobi. Why is it still not public yet?

Not reallyhe even went as far as to do a complete screenplay and camera work for those scenes
I remember Nasu specifically mentioning in the draft of that scene what should be shown and how exactly should the camera should show it.
Maybe he didn't do the same for every single addition he wrote for ufo, but seeing how that epilogue followed the draft, I'm not sure if that would've mattered.
A rough script/draft of a scene is not a complete screenplay. There's also the problem of Nasu not being an animator or film director, I'm not saying every decision Miura and his colleagues were right, but they probably saw that Nasu's script version animated wouldn't translate well to the TV screen.
