More specific impressions (or impressions I'm willing to devote time to expressing NOT too much further past bedtime) are pending, so sorry, Winter.

Meanwhile, I can definitively say Presage Flower was great... and in fact, I have a feeling I'll love it even more after seeing it again this coming Thursday.

See, having been so used to the "epic" atmosphere of Apocrypha and other similar action anime I've seen lately, I guess I forgot how interpersonal character drama-centric (and 'mundane' via the SOL and school elements) Fate/stay night is, so the prologue (which was full of the mundane) initially had me a bit uneasy, or impatient. I knew how important those earlier scenes were with establishing character and such, naturally, but still, it was quite the contrast with, say, the latest episode Apocrypha. I ended up getting used to it soon enough, though-- enough so that later scenes that involved more of the 'mundane' (like the shed conversation between Shirou and Sakura by the kerosene heater, or Emiya household SOL events) pulled me into the film even more-- so I'm sure the second viewing will only heighten my enjoyment of those earlier scenes.

I don't mind the CG too much- it was well done, art-wise, but the freaking movements were so weird and overdramatised that it felt off.

If I were blind, I wouldn't be able to tell if this track belongs to the SAO movie or KnK. Will the KnK OST remain as her only "Original" ST?

PriPri was Kajiura's best work in a while.

Lancer vs Assassin sure looks weird.

Pretty lucky that Charlotte is the bastion of anime screenings in North Carolina.

    Spoiler:
I wasn't sure at first with beginning with the year before the War but now I can see why it works, setting up how isolated Shirou is and how the addition of Sakura with Taiga's encouragement really made it seem like a family again. The scenes between Shirou and Sakura like the late third tool shed moment do a good job on how close yet how distant they are in trying to understand each other.

I don't really have complaints about action in this film, not even the distinct use of CGI, which I feel ufo has been pretty good at, especially with the magical.

Score, doesn't stand out as much as her most iconic tracks, but I think it's like how Fukusawa did, to complement the film rather than draw attention to itself, I guess. Got really bombastic during the Zouken monologue over the opening montage (which I felt was good to sum up those events without rehashing them).

I remember Trubo's complaint about Saber and Shirou's HF relationship about not showing enough. I think that's mostly true but what's presented honestly seems enough to establish the feel of it in this route.

The denouement on where they ended is something I can't think of anything better, a beaten Shirou trudging back home to Sakura.

Some complaints I have are mostly nitpicks, but I don't think this film does a good job of showing how the Shadow was related to Sakura, but that might be my mistake; i don't remember if the VN had the foreshadowing this early. Didn't Zouken already know about the Shadow so why was he surprised? I would expect people to not get what the fuck is going on with Medusa.

This is a very beautiful looking film, some of the best effects I've seen in animation. I really loved how they decided to do the 'dead rabbit' scene of what you see when touched by the Shadow.

    Now for some informal shitposting

Besides people getting the mapo tofu scene, I'm pretty sure the funniest scene for the audience was Rider getting blown the fuck out by Saber, they could not stop laughing especially with how smug Shinji looks and how he hilariously crumples. It was pretty great and I was pleased how they showed the fight with Berserker, how in this one he is absolutely dominant.

Actually good turnout, which I guess isn't surprising, considering this was the only other showing besides Monday at the same Studio Movie Grill. The employees were definitely bemused, and it seems everyone liked it enough to applaud at the end.

I don't remember the fight scene with Hassan being this long and over the place and different from the VN; IIRC, VN was only at Ryuudou lake, and Cu was unaware of Zabaniya because of Shadow breaking rune barrier and wasn't about to use Gae Bolg. But it was cool looking, Hassan really shone, how he took out Caster and Sojuurou was brutal.

Wasn't there supposed to be some supplementary goodies for this film or was that Japan only? Shame because Koe no Katachi at least had that.

I took brother who hates anime there; certainly didn't change his mind. Mind you, he was half asleep at times, and while a newcomer is going to be out of the loop on some things inevitably, he obviously didn't understand too much. But he liked Saber, so eat your heart out Tobias.

Last thing that personally made me laugh a lot was these two guys behind me going totally hipster about Fate, Tsukihime, namedropping all the terms, characters, complaining about secondaries, and how the audience probably didn't play the VN. Made me think fondly of this place and a little sad that I didn't have friends in RL that like Type Moon as much as I do nor have I hung out with BL members.

I think he was surprised that the Shadow showed up then because he didn't call for it. And yeah, HERKON PAWNCH was a thing of beauty. And you didn't get a poster? I got a little 8" x 11" promo poster at my showing. Finally, go to cons man, go to cons, all the BLs go to cons.

Ah, because it was developing its own will, got it. That punch was brutal as fuck, kind of disappointed though they didn't show their equivalent of that one CG where Saber is leaning on her sword, beat up.

FFFFFFFFFFFFF didn't get a poster, damn you Studio Movie Grill. I probably am gonna start going to cons, there's some in my state I'll start going to. Though the bigger East Coast ones are my best bet to see other BL members.

Did anyone else's theater end up using the Realta Nua poster art in their movie "poster'?

This seems to have been a thing with Marcus Theaters, the chain that owns the Ronnies in St. Louis.

Still find it funny that they didn't use the official movie art. (Doesn't this art include some late-stage spoilers?) Would Arashi know how the Realta Nua art got thrown into the promotional materials?

Mine didn't either, but I'm so jealous of whoever got the Realta Nua ppster. I love that art.
