I doubt they'll be that upset, to be honest. My reaction when I reached that point in the VN was "yeah, that makes sense, he's been the big bad for two routes, they'd want him out of the way early here". The tone of HF is established as "really fucking different and not screwing around with that Fate/UBW shit" way before Gil bites it.
If we weren't getting an UBW anime before this and Fate/Zero was getting followed up with only HF, then yeah there'd be a lot of rage.
This. Fate/Zero's BD price was insane.
