Well that and she was raised pretty well from the start. If you give someone who had a chance to shine brightly decent ground to develop, it's obvious they would succeed. Even the bad fortune of losing her parents and being raised by their betrayer gave her more than she would have gotten otherwise with the medical and martial arts training.
If there is a luck stat for everyone, she is probably just a rank below Taiga.
I mean
tohsaka magical training and magecraft is not actually that special except for it being a good foundation for using the jeweled sword, and that didn’t help generations of mages prior to rin.
rin’s actual training and starting skill set was not bad, but it wasn’t especially noteworthy either.
and she was trained by kotomine who's a spiritual surgery specialist instead of tokiomi would actually be built for conversion

that's not a result of good training
that's just being lucky to be born with enough magical energy that if you keep depositing the excess for a decade you end up with 20 A rank spells.
How she's using the jewels against Herc, "assploading them" is pretty much the bottom of the barrel of jewel magecraft.

"I've shown you before, but this is my Magic Crest.
The technique of conversion is what's been passed down the Tohsaka family. We're good at shifting our powers or someone else's.
Magical energy disappears when we take it out of our body, right?
We cannot create anything special with just magical energy. We execute the equation called magic using the magical energy before it disappears. That's why 'pure magical energy' that's not part of a spell is hard to move around"
She stops there and takes a small rock out of her pocket.
…Is it a jewel?
The transparent polyhedron reminds me of a kaleidoscope.
"As an exception, I can store my magical energy in other objects.
No, not only my magical energy, but I can also store other's magical energy. And although it'll be difficult, I can store things other than magical energy as well."
"And the most compatible storage space is a jewel.
You know that jewels are 'places' that easily store thoughts, a prison that stops flow, right?
Additionally, crystals that have been in the ground for a long time carry strong natural spirits. Such jewels can become a simple 'Magic Crest' when magical energy is poured into them.
Well, since it's a jewel, it'll break once the stored magical energy is released.""Yes. Our specialty is in flow and transfer of power.
For example, Tohsaka magi can transfer their magical energy into jewels without diluting its purity. Using that same technique, they can also transfer someone's consciousness.
If there's an enemy they want to seal, they can nullify him by transferring his consciousness into a jewel or an immobile doll."
"But the success rate of transferring someone's consciousness is so low that even we, the ones specialized in transfer, won't use it as an attack."This would be a more high-tier application of jewels than just "assploading" energy you've saved"Yes. Thanks to that, we were able to find the foundational formula the entire Castle of Separation was built on. Though confirming the contents and building our own answer to it took a considerable amount of time."
"'Build' an answer?"
With a gentle smile, she opened her hand, revealing a single jewel.
"All the rooms, all the hallways...all the Magic Circuits running through the Castle are now buried in this jewel. It took me almost half a day to finish."
My master's eyes went wide at the realization of what that meant.

It would be pretty sad imo if 2004 Rin by her super natural talent + whatever kirei taught her was better than Luvia who is also called a genius but has a proper teacher, proper facilities, and a shitton of money.
Makes you wonder if Zouken actually trained Sakura properly and could it be possible that she would be better at magecraft than Rin come HGW 5? Or would the gap of having to change your element into something you're not that suited for be too large to make up for Rin not having Tokiomi there.

Speaking of Sakura, considering how changing her Element negatively(?) affected her, how exactly could she have been taught in a way to maximize her abilities and potential? I mean would the only way that could happen be being taught by the Edelfelts considering how both they and the Tohsaka share that Conversion trait?

I don't even think the Tohsaka have branch families.
Also wasn't it sort of more convenient for Tokiomi, if mostly because the Matou were literally right next door?
But man yeah it would've been a lot better for Sakura had she been sent to the Edelfelts. It sounds like they could've really helped maximize her potential.
