Now i can really see how a rank down of an NP in exchange for more uses can just break a character. At that point it doesnt even matter if its relatively weaker than her normal version.

Cuz we're just that excited to watch it. Not all of us live in some place that will be airing this.

Yup. Clever way to include more cute, cheerful Sakura in a mostly depressing film, then use it for dramatic effect with the Gil scene. Sudou knows what he's doing and I'm loving it.

I might love this movie more than my favorite episodes of UBW... Time will tell.
I can definitely say this was much better than Presage Flower. I'm seeing myself going back to watch this many more times than that one.

It is also a great way of showing the dissonance in Sakura's mind at this point.

My favorite scene though, is when Shirou almost goes through with killing Sakura, but doesn't. So well done.
The fight scenes are hype, but this actually made me feel something more than when I originally read it.

I wonder if they'll find a way to put the substance of that scene in the third film? The time Shirou and Illya walk back home from Einzbern Forest might be the perfect time for it.

I think what was more dynamic was how they illustrated Imaginary Number Space and regeneration.
Nasu must have been like, "fuck, why didn't I think to do it that way?" The movement and the distorted way it reattached her limbs without just doing it as regular old regen is good.
The best part is that she is still just unconscious acting on instinct.

I can't imagine Nasu wasn't squeeing when they had the private showing. Now if he could you know...have a little epilogue with a bit of a Magic Tourney to show off more Imaginary Numbers stuff I would be more than grateful Nasu. Sudou proved that he would make it nice.
Oddly, and ironically enough, I was reminded of that strange distortions Hollows from Bleach make phasing in and out of areas when they illustrated the Imaginary Numbers space. But holy christ, that's a huge fucking distance Sakura has if I remember the map of Fuyuki and gauged the range.

The action scenes were pretty good (school fight was excellent, alter fight was impressive but I felt it came at the expense of drama) but the lower key Sakura scenes were superb. Illya definitely got the shaft here (though not as badly as I might have expected), but Sakura and a few others

all got tremendous showings. Looking forward to HF3, will probably post more fleshed out thoughts when the bluray comes out or if they miraculously put out a theater showing I can see.

I'm still just gushing over the Saber Alter vs Berserker fight.

One little detail I appreciated was that they seemingly destroyed the storage room Rin was held captive in (in the UBW adaptation) during their fight.


I haven't watched the whole movie, since I can't understand most of what is said, but I did find the scene change from Sakura's happy dreams to her standing in the dark alley to be superbly creepy.

And can we also talk about the symbolism? This is really subtle but evocative stuff. Not like SHAFT, but very, "blink and you'll miss what they did there" type of stuff.

There was some really neat symbolism, especially in the more surreal scenes like the wonderland scene and at the very end.

I went back and rewatched some of Presage Flower with daraku's subs and noticed some neat callbacks, such as the plane and Sakura doing the sheets.

Probably because it wouldn't have fit in with the atmosphere of the fight. She was dead silent the entire time.

Our only hope now to even hear the song will be the final Illya scene.
