No, you're not wrong. Even a touch is dangerous for them. In here they're just kinda bind them, you can see slight incosistency with Lancer too, he was dragged from his feet, not quickly corrupt him, but for Archer it does corrupt him slightly

I thought that was actually a little wonky at times, there’s some pretty questionable direction on that scene when Shirou disarms Shinji. We see Shirou in the air, next cut is a dust explosion and then we see Shirou already standing with the knife in his hand. Kinda lame since Shirou actually grabbing the knife is one of the highlights of the scene to me.

I think it was also depicted in the movie that digesting Gil took an immense amount of energy. That's why afterwards the shadow conducted a massive scale of cannibalism over the whole city

My favorite bit was using Imaginary Number Space as a psuedo shield to shunt them away while the taint ruined his NPs. Who would have though that magecraft that was originally used to store artifacts could be used like that.
