Well i just did double tamamo plus da vinci for most of the chapter so i could put the picnic ce at the back, since all i needed was BHG on da vinci. But i had to switch to sanzang and double merlin for the last battle since the arts team can't take her out fast enough. Though still managed to keep the picnic CE at the back.

Probably because the interlude info page says it's meant to be unlocked when Nezha is at least first ascension and Bond Lv. 3 or above. If I read it right.

Whoever said it makes it slower is completely wrong. However, you're right that saving QP is the main reason to do it. I wrote a blog post about it if you want to reference stuff about it. It's not the only way to do it (you can potentially store 37k or so exp on a stage 1 if you save using duplicates until last to fill up all 20 slots), but you definitely need more FP to do it that way.
Starting XMas 2017 next week is perfect if it will last 2 weeks and gives enough time for 1 week pre new year events
