I'm going by what I've seen from previous events. I farm a quest until all the boxes are filled, then I got a CE drop and suddenly it's listed as a possible drop for that quest.

Even if he does have the potential to drop a CE. I'm not sure how farming him is "faster", it's a lot cheaper yeah but even if you solo it it's only about a 10 turn clear at best. Roma node takes 4.

There's a faster clear, but it's not very elegant.

iirc CEs don't appear on the normal drop table for the info tab. It makes a new box for them there if one drops. So a quest might list only four drops (red gem, proofs, claws and a monument, for example) but then when you get a CE drop it'll be listed there alongside those four.

I am not being very aggressive with the farming. I only cleared my first gold Fou box. I spent half the day reading josei manga instead.

No, CEs are always there with a box of their own. For example, I got a CE from doing silver farm. It was the fodder CE. Guess where it was in the list? Third on the list. The first two are definitely the 5* CEs. I've seen it that way all the time. Always there.
