Off-topic: I'm still wondering why people aren't fully standardizing values. Even timezones like EST/PST/etc. Can't people just use GMT or something already more easily usable.

You'd have places with the sun rising at ~3:00 PM and setting at ~3:00 AM.

That's why GMT is the easiest. +8, -10. It's easier than trying to remember what PST is converted to Malaysian Time (+8 GMT), for example.

I feel saying my timezone is JST won't be much to most of the world and say JST(UTC+9) or just plain UTC+9.
I think the people with DST have it harder, since they'd need to change the UTC+[number] everytime it kicks in.

The event updates usually come at a time when I'm at work, not to mention that I'm never in a hurry about them anyway so timezone nitpickery is irrelevant to me.
