    Bokurano

    I finally got around to reading this manga, and... oh god, wow. A really, really beautiful and depressing story.

    I know this series is probably a bit old, but feel free to discuss?

    I was depressed for weeks after reading the manga ;__;

    The anime has one of the most beautiful, depressing and haunting opening songs ever.

    Anybody have links/copies of the sidestory and epilogue of the manga?

    *^, yeah, the manga was really, really beautiful, and depressing. Haven't seen the anime yet though

    Sadly, I do not have links to those stories.

    I have not seen the anime myself, but the opening song itself is so popular that I ran into it. That's what originally sparked my interest in the series.

    The ending just, I don't know how to put it.

    I found this more depressing than Narutaru, though that one is more fucked up. The whole next to last chapter was particularly strong.
    Also, the anime is not very good compared to the manga.

    Didn't the director of the anime say something like "don't watch the anime if you liked the manga" or something? Didn't watch past episode 1 due to that.

    Regarding differences between the stories in the manga and in the anime, Hiroyuki Morita, who directed the anime, wrote in his blog that he dislikes the original story and has, in some ways, been making changes to the plot for that reason. He also wrote that, at one point early in the development of the show, he asked manga author Mohiro Kitoh if he could find some way to save the main characters — the kids who must pilot Zearth. He wrote that Kitoh responded that his choice was fine as long as the changes did not involve "magical solutions" to the story. Morita closed out the blog entry with the statement "The director of the anime version of Bokurano hates the original work. Viewers should not expect to see any aspects that they liked about the original manga appearing in the anime. So fans of the manga, please stop watching the anime".[1]

    I just found out about it recently.

    I also found out that the translation of the epilogue and side story omake were trolls as well.

    Which is super depressing.

    It really looks like I'll never get to know what happened in the omake, and I really wanted to know too...
