Gonna amend my unofficial +1 to God-Slaying Blade Works to a -1.

It's a damn shame, too. I enjoyed it a lot, up until the whole Aphrodite part.

That and the whole rape plot point's sequence is when it jumped the shark. That already made me uncomfortable, but I carried on.

After that, the quality declined. There were still some good sections every few chapters or so. But given the limitations and BS that the author's used to nerf Shirou (that's what happens when you combine all three routes guys), it's become a grind. The prose has headed into the bad side of FFD, to the point where I have to give GSBW a -1.

Oh, and now Ahriman is possessing Illya.

Well, two weeks and the site hasn't done anything about the stolen fic. Then again, I stumbled against a racist coven of trollfic writers and reported them a while back along with a crapton of proof of abuse, and the site seemed not to care about anti-Semitic comments and islamophobic rantings/threats, so I'm not actually sure the admins actually check the abuse messages. Keeping things civil must not be worth their time. God knows, adding more adds is more important. I'll be honest, this blatant lack of regard for their own supposed site rules kind of pisses me off.

It was about a day later, for clarification. I like imagining the guy as an emaciated dimwit spending all day waiting for that response. Considering I wasn't ranting at him, I can't imagine it was worth it.

I recently caught up on Path of a King towards the end of last month, since I had a random craving for Medea stories (I wonder why). And I just finished the latest chapter today after my internet came back.

Wew lad, I was not expecting that short lemon scene towards the end but I'm pretty happy. It's been a long time (literally) coming.

But I'll admit they aren't the same thing. I mean, I only read TIM's previous work on Fate, but although I don't mind light and absurdistic interpretations of Fate lore, those fanfics just failed to adapt the characters even for that context. When they tried to be serious they became just cringe worthy, and Kireipool was an abomination (TIM just never got either Deadpool or Kirei at all).

Agreed. +1 (or is it -1?) to that.

Reading it, everything felt off. I'm not a Lupin fan so I can't speak for its representation, but the fact was that the fic felt like it existed to wank Lupin. Some parts were enjoyable, but besides the BS power to steal NPs, the characterization of a lot of Fate characters felt off.

The direction the author took with Kirei was interesting, though, I'll have to give credit there. However, what was most infuriating about the fic is how it handled Saber.

Yes, Saber would do a lot of things to chase after the Grail. But to see her characterization reduced to...the hollow shell represented in the fic just pisses me off.

There's interesting points in the fic itself, but as you've stated, there's no respect for the setting. It's less of a crossover and more of an extension of Lupin, in regards to the 4HGW. As a wank fantasy (sorry for the alternate history term), it works. But as a crossover, it just serves as 'yep another obstacle to overcome'.

And that pisses me off.

TIM has always had a hateboner against Saber. This is really no surprise, he's always written her as incompetent and obtuse.

The most egregious example being when Ikari Shinji, on foot, not even riding his gigantic abomination, lasted more than seconds against her.

I wrote it because it was an idea that was beyond ridiculous… if taken seriously. Which made it perfect for a crackfic.

Unfirtunately, it's part of the Grail Works continuum, so all I needed was Kieran's approval, and I got that. The thing is still worth a few yuks. I checked.

If you want an apology for it, I apologize at the end of the fic, so it seems like a waste to repeat myself.
