Like, someone might actually think what one person thinks is a shitpost contributes (albeit very little) to a conversation.

a lot of enforcement comes through reported posts. we dont always decide to act on a report, sometimes we feel like it wasnt actually warranted, but thats still where a lot of our mod duties come from. if someone asks you to take something off thread or says this is not on topic, it might be worth paying attention to.

The shitposting epidemic is a forum culture thing, not something you can solve on the mod level.

It's sort of idiotic. I honestly get the impression, after talking with a bunch of people in private, that not even the shitposters themselves find it fun anymore. At this point it's just kinda pathetic.

Seriously, some of these people complain about forum stagnation when the shitpost'n'mock squad itself has been more of an effective deterrent to joining BL than Mike ever was.
