Mellon has superb taste in musical reactions.
So. Did we ever get a conclusive say on the whole "premade/randomized/both" pairs question?
Is it one or the other, or could both be used? It would make sense to have a mix of premade and randomized pairs, based on the makeup of previous canon wars.
No idea if it would be balanced or not towards the randomized pairs then though.
Let no-one say I do not strive to improve myself.

Can't wait for this.

I want to participate but I don't know which roles are still free, so I'll wait and observe for now.
I'm new at this RP thing but this looked interesting.

It's merit-based. Basically, pick something you like and make a sheet for it, and if it's better than the other guy's, you'll be picked. There are plenty of Master slots to get into, but also more competition. If you go for a specific class of Servant, you'll likely have less competition, but only one sheet will be picked for it.
To be honest, right now I'm leaning more towards "randomized."
Mostly because it'll make the Master/Servant relationships more important/interesting.
"Better" in this case being "more interesting."It's merit-based. Basically, pick something you like and make a sheet for it, and if it's better than the other guy's, you'll be picked.
Just trying to make a powerful Servant won't guarantee a spot. Hell, min-maxing/powergaming is something I frown upon.
Do we post the sheets here or do we send them to Verg?
We are still waiting to see how we should make our sheets.
Updated Rulebook hasn't been completed so I wouldn't start work on one until that's released, but once it's out you send them to Verg so they can stay secret.
Honestly, most of the time, I feel like premade Servant/Master pairs have a more interesting and complex relationship dynamic going on, then randomized pairs. Far too often people just homogenize their characters down so as not to clash with the other member of the pair.
Not to mention you cant really plan for any sort of complex relationship interactions in the case of randomized pairings.
Eh, maybe its just me getting burned a few too many times with this mechanic.
That "homogenized" character won't be getting in the RP, as the search is specifically for interesting characters. If you submit one, you are already setting up for a loss. And unlike pre-determined pairs, randomized pairs are "natural" in their interactions as they cannot expect everything to go smoothly. You're dealing with another being there, and backstabbing or betrayal has a chance of happening unless you find a common ground. RP-ing that Master/Servant relationship becomes an actual point, rather than something you can just plan ahead and present to me with bullet points.
Also, it effectively prevents players from creating "super-combos" where Master's and Servant's abilities mesh just perfectly to create game-breaking effects. I know some of you will try that.
There goes my plan to have my caster have a special noble phantasm that always provides him with both fresh and dried tea leaves and a master whose conceptual item always delivered piping hot clean water for our plan of always having great tasting tea, literally anywhere we went!
Darn it Verg I've tolerated a lot from you but this is just too much, how are we supposed to get our tea now!? Tell me!
