Been watching a few movies here and there. Thrillers, this time around. I really liked Shutter Island.

And getting into the paranormal, Stir of Echoes. About that one,
    Spoiler:
I will have to say that one dude's line about the ghost-girl being a retard isn't... inaccurate. Considering she followed some dude into an abandoned house and that's how she wound up dead in the first place, to using a young kid to try and find her body underneath said house, to, uh, well, moving on to the father who wasn't any better, etc. Then when her body is finally discovered and all's said and done her spirit just walks out the house and disappears. Like... what. At least show your gratitude for being an impatient and annoying presence, sheesh! Also the wife could have made everything so much simpler if she told her husband what that one dude said about the truth behind his 'hallucinations'. I liked the ending where its implied a bunch of other ghosts are trapped in the other houses in the neighborhood as the family drives by them all on their way out of it. A good, decent neighborhood... riiiight.

Holy shit Memories of Murder is amazing, and I don't even like murder mysteries that much
I haven't been so utterly fascinated with movie visuals in a long while

It's great all around but especially the visuals imo. South Korean drama is good

John Wick 2 is another really solid action movie. I'm very hopeful for part 3. Although by that point, if they continue this trend of each movie directly following the last, John will have had the worst ever week by the time the end of the next one rolls around. Wife dies, puppy dies, car stolen, old friends killed by and because of him, car trashed, house blown up, more friends killed, shot, and two cartels worth of mooks killed by him alone.

Has anyone seen Silence? Hasn't had much talk despite Scorsese, or maybe I haven't looked in the right places.

I want to echoes the sentiments here about John Wick 2.

    It's pretty great.

The John Wick Cinematic Universe is a surprisingly engaging one.

The first has a beautiful simplicity to it so i guess some people will dislike when the movie try to broad the plot

Like The Raid and The Raid 2

I really do love The Raid 2, but i understand why people prefer the first over the second.

On the topic of John Wick 2, i must say, Common has a good presence as Wick's rival but unfortunately he doesn't has the physicality to matches Reeves when it came to duking out.

Their shootouts were entertaining, specially their sneaky ones, but their big fights came of as the worse fights of the movie imo.

i actually like both the Raid equally.

i wouldnt mind broadening the plot

but the plot for Wick 2 kinda uh IMO has somewhat dumb plotholes.

i mean i know that its an action movie but lots oh points in Wick 2 is just weird.

    I dunno.

I suspect you're talking about the main bad guy, but i think he is as smart and puppy killer from the first movie.

no, im talking about several convenient stuffs happening

    Spoiler:
like how his target, the D'antonio madam tell all of his guard to leave so Wick can conveniently get inside her chamber unmolested

or how Wick walk as usual instead of being all stealthy like after shooting her dead body which makes him pass by the bald guardian guy and have to tango with all the mooks

or how Morpheus happens to be able to deliver Wick directly to D'antonio curent location smoothly

like maybe all those can sorta make sense but feels like they just handwave it

The first two points i really don't mind.

At the very least it would just change the order of the scenes, and it was mostly done to have some character building with Wick and you know who.

I can't talk about the last point tho. I was at the bathroom and i missed it. I'll have to go watch it again.

God those movies are so good. I think I prefer the second, but both are really good. Each is pretty different from the other though.

It's a real shame these Indonesian guys take so long to get a new movie out.

Headshot starring Iko Uwais is coming out in VOD March 3rd

WAS it a special kind of bad, or was it exactly the same kind of bad as Gods of Egypt, the Clash remake series, and every other bad mythological/historical pastiche action movie?

Special, because even with such a stupid premise I'd hoped for better from Zhang Yimou.
