Yes the second, no the first, in a lot of ways it seems like the Japanese Dunkirk.

(The reason it even crossed my mind was the quote about Democracy and the one about the IJA.)

    It was also extremely Anno.

The hipster theatres here are too lame to show anything cool like Shin Godzilla, I'm out of luck

Shin Godzilla is very specifically a commentary on the butchered domestic response to the Tohoku Earthquake.

That .. sounds more plausible than ahoy facism.

oh hey, it's on sale now.

I liked Spiderman. I guess we finally have three MCU villains that aren't mediocre.

I mean we were beating the JSDF to a lot of rescue operations so it's a fair thing to complain about

Baby Driver was a bloody good film. Glad i saw it in a cinema with a cranking surround sound system, the movie absolutely relies on its use of music and noise.

Stylish as fuck too, the cinematography is tight, the soundtrack is bangin' and its exactly like if you stripped all the nonsense bullshit out of Scott Pilgrim and just injected its musical and visual style into a Fast & Furious movie.

The premise itself is, in a broad sense, very thin, but that's not the point of the movie. This is absolutely one of those films I would describe as an experience as opposed to a story. It certainly keeps Edgar Wright's chain of respectably fun and enjoyable movies going.

So I watched "Lilo & Stitch" earlier since it's one of the very few Disney movies I didn't see while growing up, although I did see a bit of the TV series so I had an idea of what the movie was going to be about.

    Film spoilers
I wouldn't be a true musician if I didn't talk about the soundtrack first. Elvis Presley was my jam growing up and I smiled every time one of his songs came on and I enjoyed the covers of "Burning Love" by Wynonna and "Can't Help Falling In Love" by A*Teens.

The story was a bit unconventional for a Disney film - very sci-fi instead of fantasy, no big overarching villain, no romantic interest for either lead. Nevertheless it all weaved together to make an enjoyable story. I was surprised by how much family death and social services played a part in this movie, quite mature for a Disney film. I really felt for Lilo and Nani every time Stitch screwed something up whether intentionally or by accident. I certainly wouldn't want that terrifying Social Services guy breathing down my neck. But seeing Stitch slowly come to love his 'ohana made it all worth it. <3

The animation was gorgeous, loved the beautiful depiction of Hawai'i. I believe that Lilo & Stitch was one of the last 2D animated Disney films?

TL;DR - It was a great heart-warming movie that I would recommend to just about anyone.
