It was a scheme in the making for some time, and that happening as well affirmed his belief to do so

Movie, short story, take your pick. One of Robbie Williams' finest performances, in my humble opinion.

Just watched a cop movie that appears to have slipped well under the radar called End of Watch. I'm not sure I can do it justice describing it- it's not some masterpiece of cinema, but it feels unquestionably real, "gritty" cop work, from the humdrum to the terrifying. Would definitely recommend.

    - - - Updated - - -

Taglines seem to place quite a bit of emphasis on "From the writer of Training Day" and I have to say that while the influence might be there, End of Watch is very different from both a writing and especially a direction perspective.

Saw Bad Times at the El Royale. It's a really good thriller/noir film. It's like a Tarantino movie that restrained itself, or a Hitchcock movie that went overboard. Full of 70's nostalgia and archtypes, and a surprisingly good preformance from the 50 Shades woman. And Bill Pullman's kid. Actually everyone in the movie did a great job, even the ones only in it for a scene or two.

Spent the afternoon watching "Kingsglaive" the prequel CGI movie to Final Fantasy XV.

My general impression was that it was pretty good and the two hours flew by. The whole CGI faces took a little getting used to but overall it worked with only a few minor characters falling into uncanny valley. There was a couple moments where the special effects got a little hard to follow with so many flashes but thankfully they were very brief. The story was simple but felt like a prelude to a much larger epic - the post credits scene practically screamed "Go play the game!"

    Film Spoilers
Dammit Sean Bean, stop dying in every role you play!

Nyx was a pretty cool character, though I was already spoiled that he doesn't appear in the game itself so the second Luna talked about power being granted "not to those who seek it but those who deserve it" I knew he was going to sacrifice himself to stop the Dark Knight. Still was pretty awesome though.

Regis was an interesting character, torn between protecting his people and protecting the future. Luna was pretty impressive, I had assumed she would just be the damsel in distress but she put her neck on the line several times to help out the other characters.

That climax though, with the statues coming to life to defeat the massive Daemon and Nyx swordfighting the Dark Knight on top of the two behemoths as they did battle was just spectacular.

All in all, a solid movie that gets a solid 7/10. I plan on starting FFXV soon so please no spoilers. ^_^b

Yeah, those were pretty much my feelings, too.
It seems Nyx does show up in the game, but it's barely even a cameo.

Watched Hereditary, a tragedy / horror film. I found it unintentionally hilarious near the end when
    Spoiler:
Peter is walking through his house and finds the burned corpse of his dad and possessed, wall-crawling mother, that the thing that freaks him out the most are the naked cultists just standing there smiling at him at various points.
. That said, it was a good film, and the soundtrack...

    The soundtrack is great.

Hereditary is a comedy, where'd you get horror from?

I've got a lot of mixed feelings but it doesn't look terrible at least.

I actually love how this looks, wow
I would've rather they made an adventure story instead of a detective mystery but at least they got the looks right.

The writing looks fun, but as far as the Pokemon designs go (Pikachu aside, Pikachu looks good) this guy's tumblr post basically sums up my feelings. I just don't think there's a way to make Pokemon look good in live action, so while the trailer got me interested I don't think it should have been a live action movie.

No, it was "boy I wish they hadn't decided to make a movie out of this weird spin-off in the first place and just did an adventure story instead".

I think they good enough, in motion at least (DO NOT pause on Jigglypuff), though there some really weird decisions that remind me of those awful realistic pokemon people on deviantart always make like making Mr. Mime hair be actual skin, covering Jigglypuff in pig hair, giving Charizard that weird lizard texture, etc.

Pokémon shouldn't have entered the live action scene in the first place but it's doing it, so at least the result isn't the worst. Specially the world, I love how the world looks.

I'm interested in this movie and I did not expect it.
