Dunno why. I always felt this song kinda fits Gilgamesh because of it's tone and style. It's not sumerian though.

When there is too much love, too much compassion,
too much understanding, too much kindness, too much thankfulness, too much respect, and too much heart, then it becomes an act of cruel violence.

Cuchulainn gets a stanza in Roisin Dubh: A Rock Legend. Not posting because it's just one stanza but I think it's worth a listen anyway.
O walls, you have held up so much tedious graffiti that I am amazed you have not already collapsed in ruin.
... too bad he doesn't get past the first couple lines, and those are awful repetitive, but there you have it. It's just the original poem, set to music; it doesn't get purer than that.

Quoting from myself elsewhere:
Context: This isn’t the Epic of Gilgamesh as most people think of it. No Humbaba, no Bull of Heaven, no taming of Enkidu, no search for immortality. In fact, the mythical prologue sung here is rather weird: both the big name Gilgamesh stories are titled after the epithet given to Gilgamesh as the (semi-) mortal hero at their beginning. The Standard Babylonian epic is ‘He Who Saw the Deep’; the Old Babylonian epic, 'Surpassing All Kings’.
Instead, this is a tale we find in several tablets from Ur, apparently a favourite of the copy-scribes, which we call 'Gilgamesh and the Underworld’ or 'In those days, those far-off days’. This prologue talks of the early times of Creation: a storm which swirled around the boat of the god Enki; that storm carrying a willow tree down the Euphrates river; the goddess Inanna planting the tree for its timber as it grew.
But when the tree comes ripe, as it were, it has become infested by the 'Snake-that-Knows-no-Charm’, the 'Thunderbird’ and the 'Demon-Maiden’. Inanna’s appeals to her fellow god are no use, so she relies on the mortal Gilgamesh, who cuts down the tree for her and crafts some mortal toys as well as the furniture the goddess wanted.
The women of the city are unhappy with the way he has the men join in his game, and their outcry makes the toys fall down to the Underworld. Enkidu, informed of the dangers, tries to go in his master’s stead to retrieve them, but is monumentally stupid and messes up literally everything he could, everything Gilgamesh warned him about. Gilgamesh petitions the gods to re-unite him with his favourite servant and, as the Sun rises through the Underworld, Enkidu’s shade also rises up. Gilgamesh comes to learn from him about the rewards and the horrors of the afterlife.
