I mean, you need at least basic plan making skills if you're going to be a slumlord.

Outch. This is a disaster for SPD and CDU/CSU

Another grand coalition then
SPD said they want to go into opposition. Which is reasonable considering after the next GroKo they'd land below the AfD
So it's CDU/Greens/FDP or reelection.
And Green/FDP on federal level will be "fun"

17 years ago, hearing all about how jeb was a filthy, election rigging thief
We never could have predicted he'd become the world's most popular political figure
Kurdistan officially going for a referendum. Iraq has issued statement saying "many brave Iraqis shall soon fight for her territorial integrity." While this is, obviously, a completely laughable threat to the Kurds, more worrying is that both Turkey (duh) and Iran have joined in the condemnation and the latter has moved troops to the border (unsure about Turkey).
gdi iran you were supposed to be the good guys in this, destroying the turk is more important

I can see why Tehran would rather continue supporting moves towards unified Shia control of Iraq rather than have to deal with their own Kurds getting ideas whilst an officially independent Erbil and Baghdad scramble for control of the Sunni territory in post-ISIS Mesopotamia, whenever that occurs.

That said I don't quite believe that they're willing to actually invade rather than this being a show of force. Trying to dig out the Kurds, who are both in their home turf (which they will fight to the last body for) and the only ones with their shit together in the region, would be a nightmare.
They literally can not afford to lose their Kurdish territory, it's some of their best agricultural land.

I assume you mean Iran, cause Iraq de facto already did.
Iranian Kurdistan, being actually under a relatively stable government, has been fairly quiet by and large hasn't it? The most I've heard about is some people slipping the border to fight for their siblings. Not that I don't see why it wouldn't worry the regime, but a breakaway IK just doesn't seem credible.
Nor, for that matter, does Iran actually being able to afford the kind of time and money that an invasion of Iraqi Kurdistan would require. They'd be able to do a fuck load of damage, which is more than Baghdad can say, but they're going to have to pack up and leave eventually.
The country is under permanent tension, it just doesn't really get outside much. The establishment of an Iraqi Kurdistan is almost guaranteed to start some major shit, and if through miracles or outside interference an Iranian Kurdistan happens the regime just might actually lose control of the country.
Which is why they will try their best to go for military suppression as long as it's only affecting their border situation and Iraq.

I mean it seems to me if you're a theocratic dictatorship constantly needing to police your own territory, opening up the Erbil Ulcer is not a great strategic move.
