So I am not a legal scholar, but a pretty interesting facet of the story that broke today about trunp’s lawyer getting raided is that in theory by violating potential client attorney privilege any information gained is theoretically inadmissible. So far I have only seen two explanations to account for why it was done anyway. Option one is that as trump and Cohen have both publicly and repeatedly stated trump was not aware of the payment to that porn star, it by definition can’t be covered by attorney client privilege (and a judge would have to agree to issue the warrant)

or two, a judge was pursuaded that there was compelling reason to believe Cohen had himself been part of a conspiracy explicitly with his client, negating any privileged dialogue.

Adultery itself is no longer a crime in most developed countries, though obviously it still has legal consequences for divorce and the like.
