I did it in two words. The process is free markets are magic and will solve all your problems as long as you don't look at them. And if they don't it's your fault for not making them freer.

There was a guy in all my business classes who was super gung ho about the Austrian School and that's the gist of it.

In a truly free market, every business would have to fend for itself, and if they started charging too much money or being generally unpleasant, another business could come in and compete against them.

We're not arguing that it would work in real life though? You know, like communism has yet to bear out. Just that you should compare like to like.

This has been shown to not work due to how humans act.

The real life existence of ideal capitalism is irrelevant. However any theory of ideal capitalism must be logical, not contradict itself, and be possible to bring into existence by means that are available to humanity.

For example, an ideal society where the people are led by the immortal bird of peace that pacifies all wars by flapping its wings is not valid because we have no way of creating such a bird.

    Good. So we agree.

Both ideal communism and ideal capitalism won't work.

Can you prove that ideal communism involves systems that are either impossible to bring about or are self-contradictory?

A market left to its own devices will eventually naturally become an oligopoly though right?

No? This is a particular tendency only in markets with high capital costs and large scaling efficiencies.

That's what the military-industrial Illuminati want you to think.

This line of questioning never produces any fruit. You can always point to any example and say, "THIS wasn't representative of the theory, if they did it in just such another way it would work." There has never been a capitalist society either. Your example that it was tried and shown not to work is wrong. It was never tried completely.

The bird example fits communism perfectly. A theory that's just great if it's meant for people who don't act like people, ie rationally and self-interestedly.

Not necessarily. A lot of the capitalist theory depends on the government enforcing property rights, not becoming corrupt, etc. Oligpolies and monopolies only come around after the government decides to get in bed with different groups. And it usually does because that's how people work. But you could pretty much say the same about communism. "Oh yeah, they'll completely rearrange society and then give up power."

I think I preferred the discussion about our inevitable murder at the hands of a Sunni death army.

Do you think ISIS will break up into factions and carry on the fight over the best theoretical economy once we're all dead?

At the end of the year ISIS will pay zakat on all their loot and go bankrupt.
