It's actually just the worst parts of America and the UK together, in a way, isn't it.
You are correct.
Actually, even though I'm pretty mellow about politics this is one of the things I hate arguing with other Americans about. I really don't want to say "white people" because that's unscientific, but if I had to profile they are most of the time WASP types in my admittedly limited sample experience, not that there's anything wrong with that. please understand this is precision, not P.C.
At least in the USA and other similar OECD countries you're not supposed to be blatantly corrupt and tyrannical. Like, it's not a matter of course and it would be criminal or at the very least humiliating if an official were caught, so you can't publicly act like it. Versus all these other places where you don't need to be a conspiracy theorist to watch your back and what you say, or just worry about someone in power actually threatening your everyday life. At least people here want to think their votes matter and the system helps them. Yet, Americans use hyperbole incredibly irresponsibly when discussing politics. Obviously elsewhere too but I'm informed about this so it bugs me.
To take current events, when police brutality gets reported and blows up in the news in the States, I don't think "well duh," or develop a persecution complex, but rather "this is really sad, of all places it shouldn't be like this here." That's how I feel about the U.S. in general.
But of course, this is not an argument against aspiring to suck less. Just because somewhere is worse doesn't mean you can't be better.
Sorry, ended up ranting.

Our government is a joke in want of a punchline. The federal opposition is led by an invisible man. The Greens - with their years of experience in not getting elected - are the only people who know what the fuck they're doing. Their local candidate in my electorate is actually a friend of our family, but we've been a very safe Liberal seat for a while now and we all know he's never going to win.

Expresses the exceeding size of one's library.
Books are extremely many, loaded on an oxcart the ox will sweat.
At home piled to the ridgepole of the house, from this meaning.
Read out as 「Ushi ni ase shi, munagi ni mitsu.」

And even some countries that aren't real, like Croatia.
Not sure if you got my meaning there. Like, I know power is abused, there's bigotry, etc this is normal. But the dominant thought in my mind is not "see the violence inherent in the system!" or categorically "police hate black people!"
But rather we should know better, same as most of the other OECD societies.
I'm aware to an extent I have an idealized (?) notion of what this country should be, or at least aspirations, next to how I know people actually end up being no matter where they are. But most of the time it works out because of the system, general education level, intangible factors like culture etc. unlike half of the damn planet.
not sure I'm making sense anymore. sleep deprivation, I think this is. Been up 36 hours writing papers. Gotta sleep.
You're a good..thing mewarmo....

While sad that BB King died, I'm glad he had such a long life, all things considered.
