where '32 total cost' comes from, not '32, minus the tax plan plus/minus whatever gain/loss from government in/efficiency'

I was never suggesting the former. Like the NPR link said, it would cost 32, then we deal with it however we may. Exactly like we do with the current system, except the current system has a higher price tag.

Healthcare is always going to be a net loss unto itself no matter what system, barring of course either no coverage or so little coverage it might as well be none of course.

Like, let me grab the report that's primarily cited from the report NPR summarizes, ie, the source of 32.

    https://www.urban.org/sites/default/...-Care-Plan.pdf

    (thru 2026)
    Feds outlay: +32
    Feds tax: +15
    State/local: -4
    Private outlay: -22
    Private tax: -15

Hence, private sector is net +7, feds are net -17, national is net +6 (16.6%).

That's 16.6% growth in spending over the baseline, not as % of GDP. Ironically, since the baseline is 17~% GDP, 16.6% growth works out to just about 20% as well.

at which point, with the generous estimate here being given to the existing system, if the % cost is equal, should not it be conceded that the system that would cover everyone is by default superior?

Naturally, because I believe the estimate given to the Political Revolution to be equally generous, both fiscally and in its odds of becoming law.

I mean at present it has 0% chance of becoming law, given the admin. That's not the argument.

e: medicare for all would hardly be a revolution, additionally, it's literally Reform of an existing program

    A much needed reform.

It's the newspapers that try to make us nervous. Government is just "this is clearly meant to intimidate, but there's no immediate danger".
