Lets pretend that we were always the bad guys even when a lot of colonies were initially very peaceful towards us and coexisted for the most part (though, the Carolinas had violence since its inception). My favorite is when because a Colony was made near an Native American settlement for trade. Said Native American settlement was always in very violent and tense relationship with a different for hundreds of years even before the Urops appeared. And when trade began with the Urops said tribe decided to attack the Colony as well as the tribe village intending to massacre everyone which spiraled into a war between the tribes that hate each other which caused the Colonists to get involved because wtf.
The tribe we helped took the other tribe as slaves who they sold to the British or kept them.
Many Native American tribes spent their time raiding the shit out of us killing traders to steal their stuff, torturing the diplomats sent to negotiate the previous shit to death, and tons of other shit that just doesn't fly.

I was going to say something about the Native Americans but you know what, literally every group in history has done something bad to every other group, that's just how it's always been until we gradually became more civilized.
And even now it still continues in most parts of the world. So saying "X group did bad thing to Y" is the same as saying "X group exists."
