Well, some more notes. The building attacked was 'Studio 1' of maybe two studios. So it's the hard workers in actually making shows that suffered most.
KyoAni have said that this attack has destroyed all materials at the studio. No mention of any backups or indeed copies of any physical originals and archives.
Apparently mad train otaku is still tweeting, so I guess thatsomewhat outlandish story is less likely. Kyoto newspaper reports that the suspect was heard saying they stole his novel.
Given KyoAni's LN department and their mining of LNs for anime, some form of alleged plagiarism, or hell could even just be a similar concept sounds the most realistic motive.

Oh, so it's just this anime. They're not going to stop David Production from airing Jojo or halt any other anime from airing. Just Fire Force because it happened to start airing when the incident happened. I can't imagine how the author feels about this. Or any of the other people involved making the anime. Even after the fire is over, the arsonist is still causing trouble. If anything they should air it as normal, don't let this thing stop them.

Not that it really fucking matters, but I can’t help but wonder what this asshole thought had been plagiarized.
Kyoanis instantly recognizable brand stems from them doing almost everything in-house unlike most studios, even having their own animator school, but in this case the damage was massive since theyre so centralized.
If there were no backups and the archives are gone, it's extremely depressing that we've lost the original masters of works like Haruhi, which proved that LN adaptations could be huge; the Key trilogy, which did the same for VNs; Lucky Star and K-On for more creative adaptations of manga and Free for showing that pretty boy anime need not be niche or schlocky. It's nowhere near as saddening as the tragic loss of life, moreso it's a lot like how I imagine 60s fans of Doctor Who felt when they found out their favorite episodes had been destroyed, but it does hurt nonetheless. Thankfully these works came out during the age of home media, but it's just another layer of this being an awful event from any way it's looked at.
And the works currently in production, theyre probably gonna have to start them from scratch if they stored everything locally. Imagine having to sit down and start drawing what you already drew months ago, only with the office half empty since your pals are gone. Perhaps the people who worked on that cut together with you. That shits gotta be darn tough.
Hell no. It was atrocious. I barely cringed my way through it and that because it was my only source of amusement at the time.
I don't listen to a lot of anime dubbed (none, given a choice), but there's no way that was one of the good ones.

KyoAni apparently have no record of any involvement with the perpetrator. Picture is increasingly like a genuine criminally insane type
