I think Hen_Ichi meant that the guy was 100% delusional.
You can burn down a building with people inside for completely cold-blooded and rational reasons, like collecting insurance money. (Though I suppose the neccesary lack of empathy to do something like that might class someone as a socio/psycopath regardless).
Doing the same because of some perceived threat of plagiarism is a wholly different level of "lacking contact with reality" (which would be what, schizophrenia in medical terms?)

There's been more survivor interviews. The design of the building seems to have played a part in the lethality of this fire (Despite meeting fire code). A few open plan spaces and spiral staircases. The entire building was filled with opaque black smoke within a minute or so with fire close behind. So they had to escape blind.
First floor was staffed by about a dozen or so desk workers.
Second floor was staffed by about 30 designers-artists. Stories of escape by leaping from windows with some being rescued by members of public with ladders and such.
Third floor animators and directors. It was said that the smoke and fire progressed so fast they didn't have time to open up the fire escape to the roof.

I should probably go back and finish GBF vol. 1 at some point. Though I gather the anime went sorta original plot at some point, which depending on how far off-base they went may neccesitate a soft reset in S2 anyway. Or not, it's not like the first arc of the game had much cohesion anyway.
