I woke up to the news of fire, and the pictures didn't look threatening.
And now this. Screw everything, time to loop Linkin Park.

Fire Department: 33 People Confirmed Dead in Kyoto Animation Fire
I've seen people online say there could be some complications with donating money to any campaign right now. And that the best thing to do would be to wait for an official statement.

Spoiler:
Well hey. BL is back.
33 dead, 36 injured, 7 no injuries.
Pretty much half of a studio's staff gone just like that. Fire department reports recovery work is already complete
Some witnesses report the arsonist was raving about plagiarism. He himself is severely injured and in medically induced coma. Some say he was pursued at least for a time by severely injured staff members.
The use of petrol on the first floor, fire exits and on staff are likely the reason for the severity of this, the biggest mass murder in Japan for 20 years.

BEHOLD! THE SIG OF GOLDEN TRUTH! Pillaged from McJon, Tsukikan et al.
Fucked up. Just all kinds of terrible.
On top of being a horrible tragedy in itself, KyoAni might not recover as a studio from this either. 33 dead, when the studio is maybe ~150 employees in total. Some crazy incel obliterated a major chunk of the studio considered a beacon of hope for working conditions within anime industry.
Jesus christ.
That 'only' killed 13 people, though over 6000 injuries. Apparently there was another arson 18 years ago with 44 dead. Perpetrator unknown.

So it seems people are speculating the culprit was a deranged train otaku. Apparently an anonymous train otaku posted recently about his Kyoani hatred because a performance in Euphonium sounded like the theme of a train simulator video game series. Eyewitnesses heard the arsonist raving about plagiarism.
I kept up with the news for a while last night before bed and was appalled to wake up to the death count at 33. I desperately hope that Takemoto made it, but I'm not expecting that to be the case. It's good that Yamada, Tatsuya and Taichi are okay but this is devastating.
Last count I heard was "only" 11, and now I see triple that at least. A black day indeed.
shit BL says
Once and always and nevermore.
Police report on morning Friday. Yasuhiro Takemoto is still missing. Prepare for the worst.
They make anime

The person in question is a director I believe although I don't know much about specific kyoani staff
A prolific director.
That'd be director and animators.
I know I’ve seen Haruhi Suzumiya and A Silent Voice, but I can’t think of anything else of theirs off the bat. What else have they made?
This is horrible. I’m glad they at least have the culprit, but that won’t bring those 33 artists back.
