I don't think developing multiple characters at the same time hurt her development, we just saw other stuff as well.

They just have to make it more subtle and low key in its presentation. Don't have everyone going SHE WAS RAPED BY WORMS, BY THE WAY. Just have her reveal the basement she was in every night with the worms and let the audience draw the implication. That kind of thing.
