Void Kinship (Dragon)
The Void Guardians are an organization founded around Kyrthra, the Void Dragon that came from Beyond. They worship his existence, and in exchange, he blesses them with prosperity and power so they can better serve him in his objectives. The Void Guardians commune with him, sharing their thoughts and touching his soul, and in exchange Kyrhtra lends some of his abilities to his apostles. Tark has partaken in many of these gifts, which allow him to, at will, warp his body to acquire monstrous, draconic characteristics, effectively mutating to fight the enemy, greatly increasing his physical prowess as he does so.
Tark is capable of: mutating his hands into sharp claws, increasing his strength and giving him an extra weapon, capable of growing wings to take flight (although with his size, his flight isn’t very fast nor is he capable of flying higher than a couple of meters), capable of encasing his body in scales that greatly augment his physical defense, breathing fire or void energy through the mouth, and other draconian abilities. He has also further obtained the ability to grow two phantom arms in combat, mirroring Kyrthra’s six limbs, and he is able to blur himself, thus making his silhouette harder to perceive, and making it much easier for him to meld with the shadows.
Void Magician – Adept Level
Those who serve the Void Dragon inherit, through him, the ability to channel otherworldly energies. Void Magic, summarized, consists into wielding pure eldritch energy in various ways to attack the enemy, or crush reality itself to suit the caster’s whims. However, the Magnusson family, Tark included, isn’t very inclined towards this particular art, and thus Tark knows very little about its usage. He is capable of shooting powerful yet slow balls of void energy, or weaker but faster bolts of energy at range, and he has, by necessity, mastered the art to create, if given enough time, a portal that allows him to phase through solid objects by taking a shortcut out the plane and back.
Weapon Mastery – Greatsword
Tark has trained since childhood following what he considers to be the greatest art of the Magnusson, and has by now mastered the art of wielding his family’s symbol, a massive greatsword so heavy that few men can dream of being able to lift, something that resembles a chunk of steel more than anything else. Tark, being a big and incredibly strong man, can not only wield this kind of sword with ease, but he also can do so while wearing armor and a shield, if not more.
Bonuses to physical ability are obtained when fighting with a greatsword, and the general success ratio of attacks and maneuvers executed with it goes up.
Weapon Mastery – Crossbow
The Void Guardians are almost always trained into a main weapon, which they wield in close-quarters combat, and a sidearm, often a ranged weapon, to complement their skills. Tark has eschewed the traditional bow for a less conventional crossbow, and has trained for a long while to increase his aim, and to be able to set an arrow after shooting with great speed. It might not be as wieldy as a bow, but for Tark, who favors sheer strength, it is a very good fit.
Burning Determination
For their lord and object of worship, the Void Guardians would sacrifice everything without a shred of doubt. They’re, in a way, religious fanatics convinced that the cause of the Void Dragon is without a doubt the most sacred and one they would gladly give their lives for. Constant communion with the object of their worship, as well as an entire life dedicated towards him has sharpened their minds and given them an unbreakable will, capable of stopping anything but the strongest mental assaults, capable of pushing away the encroaching madness by prioritizing their lord over anything else, and capable of pushing them beyond their limits. Not only does Tark have increased mental resistance, but he is also able to keep fighting after receiving wounds that would have easily felled a lesser man.
Equipment:
Magnus’ Greatsword
Ultra-greatsword
“An ancient greatsword that has been passed down the Magnusson family since ages ago.
It was wielded by Magnus the Great during the battle of Karn, and it is said that at the most desperate moment of the battle, when defeat was almost assured, he charged against the thick of the enemy forces, providing a vital distraction which allowed the Void Guardians to counter-attack. His broken body was later found surrounded by the corpses of thirty enemies, and his sword was retrieved by his son, one of the few survivors.
This sword, despite its size, has a very refined look, and is a work of high-quality that has survived the test of the times. While these kind of weapons have existed since ancient times, they became popular in Eredia during the final war-torn centuries of the Age of Steel, which each territory producing its own version. They saw their greatest use against the Orcs of the east, and the Turians of the south, during the combats for the Turian Gulch.”
Army Crossbow
“A standard crossbow, of the kind used by the official army of the kingdom of Eredia. Very efficient, made specifically so its bolts could pierce through even the strongest of armors.
Although they are nowhere near as fast to shoot with as a bow, they are much easier to use, and as heavy armor became more popular, so did crossbows.”
Void Guardian Shield
Mid-shield
“A blacksteel shield wielded as a standard by the Void Guardians. It has been enchanted to be lighter than one would expect, and it is very durable and effective, especially against standard physical attacks.
It was forged from the rare blacksteel, whose secrets were only known by Samuel Lorenz, who was lost in the cataclysm that devoured Illion. The Void Guardians, however, discovered his artifacts, and reverse-engineered them, preserving the secrets within their holy mountain.”
Void Guardian Armor
Heavy armor set
“The field agents of the Void Guardians are issued a suit of blacksteel armor that looks as if normal clothes had pieces of heavy armor fused with them. This black suit has been designed to provide the maximum possible defense while reducing the quantity of noise one makes when wearing it. Thus, it is ideal for the Void Guardians, who like to move in secret while still being heavily defended.
Blacksteel is one of the best material to make armors meant to resist physical attacks. However, the material needed to create it is very rare, and it only exists in great quantities in either the Void Mountain, or the forever lost Illion.”
