I'll admit, arguing about the canon of LE puzzles me a little. One could certainly argue about the quality of LE, one can argue it shouldn't have been made canon, but considering nasu has specifically referenced saber going to Avalon at the end of the fate route in other works, I don't really see how it's canon status is in doubt.

It's not strange when the happy ending is massively inferior in quality to the ending we already had, and only exists because of Shitty Waifuism.
I find Fate!Shirou having an access to Avalon, pretty much hard to believe in.

Takeuchi cannot take endings that are bittersweet, I'm sure of that.
Well, we have 8 votes for "it never happened, it's just fan service".
fan service, absolutely, you will see no arguments from rapebird. never happened, no. That doesn't match up with what we know.
Just like some people here say "LE wasn't the real ending," Takeuchi went, "we should write the true ending to Saber's route." Guess who gets to decide whether it's official or not.
And yes it's fan service, they never denied that either. Nasu didn't even want to write it at first.
Just deal with it. It's not like the existence of LE is going to ruin whatever image of Fate route you've already decided to preserve in your minds.

Now onto the topic at hand, just a few things I liked to add regarding whether Shirou reunited with Saber before he became Archer or not...
I'm watching the LE right now and can't help but think there's something not quite right with that answer...
First, it is stated that he never changed his ideals -it's a translation I know but it says "he could not change his way of living" .. and as far as we know this "vanilla" version of Shirou is the one that become Archer...
Second, after the first recollection, there are several scenes, and those correspond to Archer's backstory...
Third, they used Shirou VA.... my theory is no more...
Ohh well, at least I got to enjoy this moment again, I confess re watching this part almost brought me to tears of joy. I'm smiling as I'm writing this, so it was worth it

archer literally treats rin like his daughter, which is bad enough. add to that the far more creepy fact that rin treats archer like a father figure.
I mean it is creepy that he's basically an old man preying on teenagers if you think that he wants to get with her.
