Installing Melty Blood on Windows 7

Like the title says.

I want to play Melty Blood Re-ACT Final Tuned.

As I understand it, that's the final patched version of Re-ACT, which was the expansion for the original MB. So I have to install MB, then Re-ACT, then the final patch.

But I can't get MB to install. The setup.exe on the disc doesn't do anything. I've tried administrator mode, compatibility mode... nothing.
I also tried AppLocale, failed. Then changed my computer's non-unicode language, which also didn't work.

I am not installing using Mirror-Moon's patches because I don't want to play in English.

Well, okay. This is the sequence of things I did that resulted in a successful installation of Melty Blood Re-ACT Final Tuned. I am not sure what fixed what.

1. MB disc in drive

2. Installed MB using mirror-moon's English installer

3. Installed MB Re-ACT normally, from disc

4. Installed FT patch

I read in several places that you have to install MB -> RA -> FT in that specific order. However, the RA I'm playing is Japanese, and does not seem to be dependent on the separate MB install. So I'm not sure I ever needed to bother with vanilla MB in the first place.

You mean you've never gone to tech support problems just to post about bizarre, made-up problems then say you solved it on your own without giving any details?

It's been years, but IIRC Re-Act does pull many data files from the existing MB install.

It's good to know that Japanese ReAct can feed on a Mirror Moon MB though.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that I had to install mine on my old computer with XP. I'll have to try installing it when I can free some space on my HD. (Its not RE-Act but Act Cadenza so I'll find out if that also works. )

yeah I didn't actually test it. To do so I should delete the MB directory and see if ReACT still works.

Hopefully I can find Win 7 drivers for the adapter for my (PS2) Arcade Stick. Though I should probably buy an usb one when I have the money. (Need one that works on my PS3 anyway... )
