Also as far as rules, the DM is the rules!
Definitely. The best system is the one that the DM can run the best imo.
Fair enough. It depends on what you want out of a game. I'm happy with the basics tbh.
Yeah, its a balance between finding what the DM and players like.
It hasn't happened to me yet so I wonder how it feels as a GM when a player's first action is to grapple a boss, basically making them a non-factor in the fight?
...Well, the mooks are kicking our asses so I guess Janx can't be too mad.

O piteous Wanderer.
I always like when players use non-conventional tactics. It gets boring if it's just attack attack attack every turn.
He never sleeps. He never dies.
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
To be fair, Reiu and I got KO'd and then got back up, antithetical to Siriel's great success.
I spent half of that fight at 10 HP doing jack all to the other boss, Christ.
those six enemies lined up nicely in two rows of three like that
and me armed with an AoE breath attack
i couldn't resist
rip
Meanwhile I figured how to make roll20 automatically adjust your map to the grid. It's literally a godsend. No longer will I have to spend 3 hours per map meticulously adjusting it pixel by pixel in Photoshop and then comparing it to how it appears in roll20.

I sent in the murder bot to help, but alas it couldn't roll well.
There was actually a number of last minute additions to that fight like 1-2 hours before it started that even made that fight a threat though.
Well that and the guards heard us so they lumped up instead of us fighting a few seperately.
In other news, shielder FC was good call.

I wish maptool let me adjust the grid dimensions, not just size. A lot o official maps seem to want to use slightly rectangular 'squares'.
I mean missing with only 20% of your attacks isn't bad.

[12:39:47 AM] Siriel: also I think the rope's DC is unbreakable for Meyanda if my background applies.
20+4+4
Unless she has +8 to the roll.
[12:39:57 AM] Janx: lol
[12:40:04 AM] Janx: nat 20 might be arguable
[12:40:07 AM] Janx: but yeah I see
[12:40:08 AM] Siriel: rules say no
[12:40:18 AM | Edited 12:40:30 AM] Siriel: "If the DC to escape from these bindings is higher than 20 + Strength mod + relevant background, the target cannot escape from the bonds, even with a natural 20 on the check."
[12:41:06 AM] Janx: oh
[12:41:07 AM] Janx: LOL
[12:41:09 AM] Janx: how specific
RIP defeated by my own rule (even if I mostly copied grapple from PF).
I must say I'm really glad this group is okay staying up as late as it does. I really enjoyed last session, and it sounds like they did too.
If we stopped at the 'usual time' we'd had ended the session in a broken elevator.
I wonder what time it would be in GMT that you are playing.
