So you DM too? That's cool. Lots of unexpected DMs here. What edition?

Half of my group thinks they're Lelouch, the other half wants to be Deathklok. It always ends up turning into a clusterfuck. loooool
He never sleeps. He never dies.

Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.

3.5, PF, and the Star Wars one that was 3.5-based. Refused to go 4 because if I wanted that kind of gaming I'd play HeroClix with the same group.

My group seems to be half murder hobos, the other more...cunning. It creates an odd mix, and tbh sometimes I have a hard time remembering that yes, the enemies should probably surrender at some point.

They kind of slaughtered a whole bandit camp lately, but I probably should have had them stop after they took down their leader. But it was sort of interesting to see if they could actually do it, and I felt like the bandits figured they had numbers. It's not like the party's all decked out in magic items or something. It sort of annoyed a player or two though.

We're kind of murder hobos in my Sorc's game right now, where we are people from a continent sealed off from the one the campaign is on. In addition to kinda going from place to place causing havoc we also kind of broke into an influential noble's home, stole his stuff, killed all the guards and then left his son in the rubble (who we now joke is gonna come back and Harry Potter the shit out of us alongside a character someone in the game made that he decommissioned himself because it was grossly overpowered (as in, do 35 damage per turn reliably at level 5, 15 or so of which is AoE, while wearing heavy armor) )

The ironic part of being murder hobos is that we were originally a trade expedition so its uh kind of bad for diplomatic purposes but hey nobody knows.

Being a man of his word the DM let me play this insanely broken character. So here I was, a horrendously OP rogue, who was the most powerful DPS character in the party with more HP then our tank.
I've had my share of broken characters due to rolls. But as most of my group had broken characters, our DM responded by just upping the level of the enemies. And then there were the troll dungeons. Though I think our standard was the same as Christemo's; 4d6 minus the lowest.
Going off vague memory, but didn't the books change what dice they recommended, for stat rolls, with editions? I remember some things got wonky like THAC0.

I found a couple of my old sheets. Not my rogue or monk yet... A cleric and a couple sorcerers. Including a half celestial/half elf sorcerer when my group decided to make half-monster characters. Or at least I think that was the one. I think we maybe played those for like one game.

I'm not. They can be rather fun to play.

Well... if you have anyone with high enough charisma, you can probably talk yourself out of any diplomatic issues.

In my current D&D campaign I'm a literal hobo, and a teenager wizard at that.

Also, according to my DM, apparently mundanes can sense when I'm casting a Still, Silent, Eschew Materials spell that is not even targeting them.

So much for the sneaky stuff I was trying to pull off, hahaha

Last session I gave up on casting spells other than Locate Object altogether.

Hell, I considered myself lucky when the (inanimate, mundane) object didn't make its Will save.

...I'm not gonna whine though; this is pretty challenging!

My current character is really gamebreaking.

    Strength: 7
    Dexterity: 7
    Constitution: 14
    intelligence: 9
    Wisdom: 9
    Charisma: 12

(Literally lower stat total than a random NPC.)

My character for that same one-shot game (in which the GM made us all roll 3d6s straight) was, pre-racial stat boost,

    STR 6
    DEX 10
    CON 18
    INT 10
    WIS 12
    CHA 12

Would've been a nice perfect average 10 if weren't for that CON 18 roll.

Meanwhile, for another campaign I kept rolling such low stats (rerolls and all) that the GM took pity on me and boosted them.

My stats were post racial adjustment, incidentally. CON was originally 13 and CHA 11.

reminder mAc that you lose out on +3 to all saves if you dont swap that 16 over to CHA

Im not one for optimization or anything but thats just deliberately skipping out on being useful.

Like, you cant even get spells if you dont have at least 10 CHA

    I'm sorry.

I hate to say this but I almost always had stat.s in the double digits. I would only have a single digit if I rolled bad.
I'm not sure if the rest of my sheets survived the move but I even had some with stat.s in the 20s due to modifiers.

I tend to try and give my players something by telling them to roll 3d6+1d8/discard the lowest, and to allocate all six rolls however they want. Of course, there's always one person that ends up with crap stats anyway.

Ah. Wasn't sure if Reiu had been referring to the same game as Siriel's or someone else's. Ok.
That sounds a little harsh but it depends on the DM's play style.
