He actually went for Medea because he thought she could summon and command the Dragon of Colchis.

And when she couldn't, he dismissed her as useless, even though she quickly proved that with the right resources, she could do just fine without it.

So Atram's issue is not that he's weak, but his head is so far up his own but that any attempt to point this out will send him in a tizzy huh. I laughed a bit at how much offense he took to Svin saying "You're less a magus and more a spellcaster" but I guess anything that implies he's "less" than what he thinks he is makes him like that

I was re-reading this section a few days ago for fanfic purposes and I kept going through this section thinking there was something I was missing so it's good to see someone else translate it and it being what I had in my head.
"In that case, then kill me now." The Princess responded, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mick's eyes went wide, while Rejina just stood silently.

Stroking her temple for few moments, Inorai spoke again.

"...I see. So that's your trump card, is it?"

"Yes. If it's you, you shouldn't have any difficulty killing me at all. But if you do that, the knowledge will spread far and wide. The one who called in Galiasta, the one who took the lives of both the Princesses of Iselma, was none other than Lord Valueleta. Your reputation will be as dust."

So saying, she turned to face a hill a small distance away. Thanks to the Strengthened senses of the magi, they could easily make out the two figures standing there.
Like what leverage does Estella have to make Inorai kill her?
Inorai literally just pointed out there's nothing Estella can do to force her to do anything. The effects will be trivial at best.
That's not a trump card Sanda. Inorai can just be like "I'm just going to go now, bye"

I guess working on the assumption that someone who killed one Princess would probably go after the other as well...?

I was going through that part thinking the same thing lol. I was just reading it like "...or she could not kill you and then get away with the murder facing no consequences?"

It would have almost made sense if she hadn't blown Maio and Islo's cover. Because at that point, if she's willing to kill you and your sister in cold blood here, and ostensibly the maids as well, what makes you think she won't just kill Maio and Islo? She's got the cover with the Galiasta attack and everything. But with just declaring that Maio and Islo are there, I can't even really tell what Estella's goal here is. Does she want Inorai to kill her? Then why reveal that Maio and Islo are watching? Does she want her to...not kill her? Does that accomplish anything?

I imagined she was trying to force Inorai to confess to the crime somehow, but I don't see how what she's doing accomplishes that at all either.

I see the years spent in attaining that beauty didn't help as much in the common sense department.

I thought magi didn't have common sense in general?

They have common sense alright, they just don't see how excercising it might help their situation most of the time.

Is it that hard to conceive that the girls who were praised as the perfect beauties (artificial or not) are expecting people to be charmed by their simple presence? Their compulsion seems strong enough to influence the average magus just fine. Remember how Reines was barely able to even formulate her thoughts properly on her short exchange with gold. If it ranks up as the same kind of influence that Deermud throws around the ladies by simply being in their presence, I can see how gold and silver would (at least) expect only few individuals to have the means to resist them.

They don't seem to have much of a life outside the workshop, so I doubt they test their influence often on people of Inorai's caliber. Maybe silver was hoping the woman who has the best eyes for arts to be bewitched by her beauty.

    Old lady wasn't impressed, however.

But yes, threatening to throw the neutrals (who can't even agree on being an actual group) using these two guys - who have being hanging out too much with democrats - isn't going to faze the head of one of the big factions.

If that's the reason then the narration should have definitely helped express that or at least have Estella shocked the conversation isn't progressing as she thought it should.

Of course. I was kind of hoping that it would be somewhat addressed at some point, but I don't have much hope given the comments and past similar issues in previous cases.

A lot of stuff goes unanswered unfortunately, maybe due to the format.

So what, Silver was hoping that her sheer super beauty would somehow charm Inorai into killing her and then that would somehow ruin her reputation's faction due to that? Did she forget that Inorai is a Lord and that she could probably easily have things swept under the rug because the sysyem is tilted in her favor?

I was under the impression that although she didn't WANT to die, she was willing to trade her life or at least pretend to be willing so as to throw off Inorai, but that also failed. Also, Touko has got SOMETHING to do with this, correct? There's no way she wasn't involved in the murders, especially since her puppet was at the scene of the maid's murder.

Maybe she meant that she'd kill herself and make it look like Inorai did it? Kinda like an advanced "I'm gonna scream rape!" technique.
Not that it sounds particularly plausible, but...it's some kind of plan.

So the dialogue would go something like "In that case, you will kill me now".
