Blackmill are also good in that regard, as are Feint

if you're into something more 'epic', check out Instrumental Core Music - they do orchestral dubstep

Actually, folk-ish stuff would be preferable. Instrumentals are fine too.

Not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but here goes.

Mario M does a lot of instrumental stuff which is all pretty chilled and emotional. "Good Morning" is a good one. Another good instrumental artist along those lines is Tom Day.

Bonus: for those of you who like the sound of rain.

    Memories of a King - a 'Saber Origins' story ( 8/? chapters, discontiuned )
    A Small Warmth - a post UBW-Good oneshot, Saber/Rin
    Devil's Thrill - Narbareck hunts down a DAA Blackmore ( 10/10 chapters, finished )
    Boundary of Loneliness - Ryougi Shiki/Alphard Al-Shua oneshot. Lemon-flavoured

Thanks for all the recommendations, in particular for Opeth. Once upon a time I listened to them a bit, I believe those were Damnation and Deliverance. I liked both but didn't feel much interested in exploring their stuff further.

This one has a lot of memories for me, but it's also a very nice song in and of its own right.

Only stuff that I follow vaguely in that direction are those 2hu doujin music group singers and among them I only really looked around for tracks from one specific singer, 3L.

She has some silly range but she's at her best when she either goes super deep or full power.
[04:55] Lianru: i3uster is actuallly quite cute

My favorite was her cover of Akazukin no Ookami, though that might be because of all the covers of her's I've listened to, it's one of the most distinctive. Unfortunately, I can't really find a link to it.

Though I actually discovered her when she did the Tell Your World collab with Osamuraisan, because I was following him at the time as well.
