This is a time where I really want mats or interlude to explain why Wolfie, one who hates and refuse any food from human after capture answered the Chaldea summoning. Prof. M had a spot to become an ally of Justice after the chapter, and Kung Fu Guy is pretty normal after seperating from doppleganger.

Yan Qing got the short end of the stick since his character was literally mind-raped thanks to the doppleganger urban legend he was fused with. Each time he morphs, he will obtain the skills, memories and emotions of the person, and they all stay. I doubt a Heroic spirit can take in that much.
Besides, it is not lame since the douchey punk who yells ADIOS AMIGOS! and kidnaps people for fun while laughing at how badly they've been rused has nothing to do with the character he is based upon. The sad guy is Lu Junyi who got thrown in the mud.
Oh, his phantom is a doppelganger? I guess that explains the shapeshifting.
That kinda makes sense because he was a bandit who opposed the emperor if i remember right. So I can actually see them get along.

To be fair, Jing Ke wasn't opposing her emperor. The historic Jing Ke was a gentleman of leisure from a state that neighbored Qin, who was sent into the court of the first emperor of Qin as backup to a younger assassin. When the younger assassin chickened out on the mission after seeing the emperor, Jing Ke tried to kill the emperor with a bronze dagger. Unfortunately, the emperor of Qin made it a habit to carry around a ceremonial longsword made of iron, and after a few mishaps, he sliced Jing Ke's leg, and then killed him for his trouble.
Comparatively, Yan Qing was an actual rebel in the Water Magin novel.

Pretty much that, but it is strange that Jing Ke, a supposedly famed fighter loses out to Ying Zheng who doesn't seem to be much of a fighter even if it invloves running around a pillar, the physician throwing his med kit at Jing Ke and the much longer sword Ying Zheng has. Maybe it is different in Nasuverse?

His original master in Water Margin. He adopted young Yan Qing who was a beggar and gave him education and learning martial arts, so he is Yan Qing's benefactor. Too bad he is a nice guy who refuses to heed Yan Qing's often correct advice since he believe that since he is innocent or have not done harm, no one would harm him which landed him into trouble. The last advice Yan Qing gave was to tell Lu to retire since he is in a dangerous position in which he refuses since he claimed he had no thoughts of betraying the emperor, thus the emperor will not harm him. Yan Qing left alone and Lu was eventually posioned with mercury and fell into the lake on his way to claim his officer title.

Now when you say doppelgänger are you referring to a specific one? I'm kind of surprised he can't stand on his own.

When we summon him, it seems he is without his doppelgänger buddy. (And it looks like it is the general legend of the Doppelgänger.)

It's less that he can't stand on his own, and more that Alliance Moriarty thought it would be useful to grant him a disguise ability.
Has his MR dialogue been translated yet?
