Do you remember the scene in Code Geass S2 where Lelouch pretends to betray Kallen when he's about to be captured so that she'd run away and survive rather then dying with him? I imagine it as basically like that.

Tomoe ran into the group, right up to Onda, grabbed and pulled him off, and as she shoved him against the front of the saddle, she twisted his head off and threw it away. She threw off her armor and tearfully bid goodbye, escaping to the eastern regions.
