    Looking at her expression I don't think she's being entirely honest about that, but maybe I'm just seeing things. Even if she is sincere, I don't really think they changed it just to pander to players because if that was the case they would have done the same to Artoria, Nero, Tamamo, etc. It's just the direction they decided to take her character on, her scenes with Amakusa at the end of Apocrypha did have a sense of finality to everything.
