Yeah
Thanks to his ideals Emiya becoming a CG is tantamount to making his existence suffering, and Kiritsugu is always dead inside so who cares.
Okita Alter makes it sounds not too bad if you learn to like your job though, even if the experience is so-so.
Like, really. Emiya describes it like he's trapped in purgatory but all it really is just a shitty job in the end.

Okita Alter got it even worse than him imo, she became a separate existence from Okita only to act once then die. Fucked up.
Sounds alright to me. At least there's a normal Okita on the throne.

Yeah I'm confused about the same thing, maybe something will happen in the epilogue.
just finished chapter 7 and it's surprising CM wasn't lying to us.
What was Hijikata's role then? If the cm was true who did he off?
"Only in my company, will you not be a monster"
anywhere than here
But the way it's described, Emiya's job isn't shitty so much as it's boring as hell. He's a mindless kill bot when he's deployed, and the real him can only sort of "read" about what his kill bot self did.
I once compared it to an eternity of sitting around with nothing to do but read shitty fanfiction of yourself. That's the level of detachment the real EMIYA has from his "assignments".
Considering how Okita was apparently shafted, but isn't interested in possibly screwing up the time line to save herself, it really makes EMIYA look like a whiner by comparison, even if it's not necessarily a fair comparison. It doesn't really sound like the sheer hell EMIYA makes it out to be, but maybe I'm misreading it or lack some sort of context.
It's really different. While it is true Emiya is a whiner, he signed the contract without knowing the details, while Okita was just a child and on the verge of death, so it is either do or die.
EMIYA's main problem wasn't really that CG life was so much worse than what he was used to, but that it was the exact same thing on a larger scale ad infinitum. At least in life he could hope that an opportunity to save everyone could happen, being a CG doesn't even give him that.
One of the Okada Izo line "I am stupid, but I love gambling"

I love Izou. He's like, "What if Shinji was obsessed with being an amazing swordsman instead of a magus, and he actually had the talent for it... but he was still Shinji." I read his lines (such a tsundere edgelord) and was reminded of how Shinji, despite acting like an ass towards Shirou all the time, would still ruin anyone who tried to take advantage of him.
It helps that he's great in gameplay despite being utter garbage in lore. Getting him to NP4 helped soothe the pain of Majin Okita not answering my rolls.
just saying, but he wasnt "utter garbage" in lore
at least in terms of combat ability
tho your point still stands in that Izo's actually really good at swording the way Shinji is said to be really good at social and non magic stuffs
